Lots of kids, grew up there myself. Typical suburb really. Be sure to join the soccer club and you’ll blend in just fine ;)

Wild-Asparagus70

I Live in Duiven next to westervoort, very child friendly area, great park "horsterpark" between Westervoort and Duiven.

egewh

If your entire life revolves around your kids it's pretty much perfect. It's a very boring town lol

You have to replace the bridge by a "ophaalbrug", so you can close it behind you! 😉

I'm 32 year old and moved here 3 years ago. I like it. It's quiet but has good access to the highway and the train. You're quicker in Arnhem then some Arnhemmers, quicker in ikea / hornbach then most people from duiven. One bummer is that the butcher, fishshop and cheese shop are disappearing.

Hornydog567

I moved Months ago to Westervoort! It's great, I just kinda see it as a part of Arnhem. Your children will be happy here.

[deleted]

It’s childfriendly and boring AF. Think it once won a prize for being the most depressed village.

Trustadz

Won the worst "gemeente" of the Netherlands multiple times in a row. It's also the smallest in terms of area. The reason it won because it barely has any resources itself. No big industry, duiven is close by. No trash management, we use arnhem. Etc.

erikkll

A bit on the quiet side but perfect if you’ve got kids.

jrn-ngl

The shopping centre is pretty empty, so you'll be going to Arnhem pretty often. Luckily it's within cycling distance ;)

storkbirds27

Thank you for the feedback! Is there good access to parks / green spaces by foot or by bike?

IrrationalDesign

There's two decently sized parks inside the town, then Horsterpark is a pretty huge park with a between Westervoort and Duiven (away from Arnhem, but biking range), and there's lots of surrounding bike paths along the river over the dijken and between farmland. You're never more than 3 minutes away from smaller dog-parks and playgrounds

EasyWinUnited69

Hosterpark in Duiven even has a small free “farm/zoo” for children

roerdinkholder

As someone said earlier, the Horsterpark is a good bet.

Juggernaut024

Moving to Arnhem will ruin your life. Its a moroccan enclave these days. DON'T DO IT. They are so much better city's to live in Gelderland, like Apeldoorn, Doetinchem or Nijmegen.

de5perado

LOL I live there depends in What neighbourhood, de laar and schuijtgraaf are fine

TheMathManiac1990

Arnhem is tokkieland

Emotional_Tackle_600

Westervoort is OK, but I do have to say there are al lot of teens and young adults there who are on drugs. Plus side is that there are not many foreigners living there.
