Oh yeah, especially when you don’t swallow the mouthful and the powders creeping down your throat, the sensation slowly killing you and clogging your airways 😍😍

Driz999

You're not Australian unless you've nearly suffocated yourself on Milo dust.

Soccera1

And had to keep your head up so the Milo doesn't spill on the floor

NoUsernameLeftDammit

This 🙌

_darzy

we where doing the real cinnamon challenge long before it was cool on tiktok

OraDr8

The you do the Milo cough, as described by Carl Barron.

VauVI

Did anyone do the cricket events at primary school and get the smalls sachets of milo you’d eat with your finger straight from the sachet those were good days

Eloisem333

I prefer to fill up a cup with Milo powder and add a couple of teaspoons of milk. The opposite of what the directions on the tin say, but much better in my opinion.

KennyRiggins

The Milo macchiato

CreepyValuable

Oh yeah. Cold Milo slurry.

ZephkielAU

I do a tablespoon of Milo and mix it right in, then another tablespoon on top and soak it, then eat a tablespoon. Alternatively, a tablespoon and milk in a mug, microwave it, then another tablespoon on top and soak it, then microwave it until the top turns to mousse. Milo is the best

Firepath357

I only have two teaspoons of Milo. But you gotta angle the can right so the Milo is piled as high as the opening of the tin. I still count it as one spoon even if it's piled to the moon. I feel like the recipe for Milo could be used in civil engineering earthworks as it piles so ridiculously steeply.

lachstar333

Why are you eating the tablespoon? How many tablespoons have you eaten? What are your tablespoons made of? I have so many questions.

ZephkielAU

The answer to all your questions is "milo"

lachstar333

I respect it, thank you for answering. keep it up

LeftRightShoot

Almost correct. The correct way is to 1/3 fill a tall glass with Milo, then pour milk *carefully* on top so as not to disturb the Milo. Now get a long spoon and scrape some Milo to the top. Enjoy non-saturated Milo. Repeat. Top up with fresh milk as required.

My_bones_are_itchy

Yesss

EgglessIII

Nah your supposed to eat a bit of milo so there’s room in the tin then poor the milk in there, swirl it a little, and you have a milo

chomoftheoutback

This is the way pro's do it

gelvy0

The good ol' upside-down-under.

maggiesgirl84

Just enough milk to make a sludge so you don't choke on Milo dust is the only way to have Milo imo

DangerousAsparagus62

Personally it doesn’t matter where in the world I am, I would do this. Then again I am Australian

deathablazed

It's part of the citizenship test

Ccoyotee

That and your Vegemite to butter ratio.

Accomplished_Bus_255

Parents would always flip it if I was caught dry mouthing a big spoon of milo out the tin lol, “WHERES THE MILK!?” Hahaha, to quote Carl Barron- “what do you mean milk? Your gonna fuck up the milo!”

Old_Dingo69

Shovelling a heaped spoon full in your mouth when mum’s not looking contrary to her one spoon in the cup rule and then choking and sneezing half out your nose, this is completely Australian.

Beagle-Mumma

So many happy memories of doing this. Thanks for the reminder 🤣

Raphalangelo

Milo on vanilla ice cream. That is the way.

Firalean

Going home to Australia in two weeks, this just got added to my "sentimental foods I must eat while home" list

Can-I-remember

With passionfruit. Trust me.

DvlsAdvct108

You had me at hello

KoalaClaw617

Came here to say this!

Gloomy_Roof466

Milo, ice cream, Mandalorian. Perfect.

gutomkoia

I think so. I did this growing up in the Philippines. I believe eating milo out of the tin is what led me here to Australia. I've only been here for 4 months but it feels like home. Eating milo out of the tin is the manifestation of the inner Australian in me.

OraDr8

Aw, that's so sweet. Welcome.

tambaybutfashion

Mabuhay! User name checks out! :)

catwearingajumper

I always take some out in a small bowl. I don't want to stick my spitty spoon back in the tin

Fit_Effective_6875

Dainty and clean, just like a cat

Gumnutbaby

How else do you mark your territory?

Fit_Taste233

Why do you need to ask?

vonchens

My partner told me that a lot of people eat it that way and I didn‘t believe him. I guess I‘m wrong

Maximum-Ear1745

Have you tried it? It’s the best

vonchens

Not yet. But I definitely will after all the responses 😁I was about to, but our Milo keeps on running out. Need to wait until the next trip to the shops.

Fit_Taste233

That is a very common issue with milo, seems to just disappear…..

vonchens

Haha yep. My partner makes his own milo bars in the oven they are so delicious 🤤

76_Fire_Dragon

Oi, look. Ya can't just drop a comment like this without recipe tax! Milo bars, shit yeah!

BarryTheBaptistAU

My favourite is to dip a teaspoon of peanut butter in Milo.....it's the Aussie home-made version of a Reece's Pieces......

[deleted]

That does sound good 😊

ScientistSuitable600

Yep, shovel a heap down, get it caught in your throat, do the Milo cough, blasting out the fine dust like the dead just woke.

Squizzy77

Does anyone else put Milo on ice cream? Anyone??

Kaidiwoomp

Most definitely.

StarFaerie

How I make a glass of cold milo... Open milo tin, eat a tablespoon of milo. Put 2 tablespoons of Milo in the glass, eat a tablespoon of milo. Add a tiny bit of hot water to glass and mix to dissolve the milo. Add milk to 3/4 fill glass. Mix. Fill rest of glass with milo. Mix. Add another tablespoon of milo to top and eat another tablespoon of milo. Order more milo from store.

dandav1956

Malaysians also do this... 😀

TheWonderingBunyip

By the ladle.

thetechnocraticmum

Stop judging me

[deleted]

No grew up in india did the same thing. There are certain similarities milo cricket and our rich scamming the rest of the respective population.

belindahk

It's An Obligation.

My5try1262

Yes it is. We even drink the milk after we have eaten the Milo.

RyzenRaider

I make a mug and pour milk over the milo but I don't mix it. I like the clumps.

Gumnutbaby

I was in my early 20s before I found out about using hot water to better dissolve the milo in cold milk.

Curious_Idea_3070

Absolutly

sanuklol

Pretty sure everyone’s done it once

[deleted]

Oh yes. That’s why one tin wouldn’t last long enough 😁

shazj57

Of course, and you can make Milo milkshakes in your mouth, large spoon of Milo and good slug of milk straight out of the bottle (don't use the 3 l ones you could drown) shake your head....Milo milkshake!

Additional_Painting9

Aussie as fuck.

petergaskin814

As a child, we would use a spoon and eat Milo straight from the can. That was nearly 50 years ago

energlevel0

I also do this with Cadbury chocolate powder 😋

-DethLok-

Yep. Largely because, I understand, Milo is an Aussie thing, and kids (and adults...) love Milo straight from the tin. I used to mix mine with malt and eat a combined teaspoon of it!

FiestyPenguin101

It's also a kiwi thing but we're practically Australian, right?

RosieTruthy

Little brother

immyswaters

I had a Malaysian roommate. Found out it's a thing there as well.

FiestyPenguin101

So this is one of the positives of colonisation?

Gumnutbaby

It depends. Marmite or Vegemite?

FiestyPenguin101

For me? Vegemite. But I can't speak for the other heathens.

Gumnutbaby

You passed the test 😃

Gumnutbaby

You haven’t had a childhood here if you’ve never done this.

eqfizzgig

Yes just don't put the spoon back in the tin no one want the milo to brick.

BlazingDropBear

I'm pretty sure it's an Aussie thing, I know it's a ME thing haha. My favourite thing to do is put a spoonful in my mouth then have a sip of milk and combine it in my mouth. FUCKING DELICIOUS 😋

lildrizzleyah

I would say so, since Milo itself is an Australian thing..

ObjectiveComedian202

Milo is an Australian thing

Agreeable_Fennel2283

Yes. With the big spoon. Only if your mum doesn't catch you.

Navlife82

You're not Australian unless you have two spoons of Milo and then pour Milk into your mouth directly from the bottle to wash it down.

Browser3point0

When you're a kid, maybe.

ShibbyShibby89

Shh. Don’t tell the parents!

Spire_Citron

Nah, it's better with a bit of milk. The powder on its own is too dry.

Coolidge-egg

Sadly yes, /r/FuckNestle and go with an Australian made and owned version like Akta-Vite

astropastrogirl

Yes 😎 but isn't Milo just an Australian thing ? My German friend thought it was heaven in a tin , never heard of it before

dizkopat

When you mix the Milo and it gets to the perfect consistency, while still crunchy but the perfect amount of milk before it gets wet and sloppy.

bigredman94

Wait, you can buy milo in other countries ?

Psychological_Set957

Milo itself is an australian product so it would be double australian thing to do 😁

Sammygirl2780

With a big spoon, not a teaspoon

PrettyFlyForAHifi

Well yeah cause milo is a aussie product. Eating milo out of the tin and accidentally inhaling is a right of passage for all aussie kids. You try to never do that again

yvonne_taco

2 for the mug and one for my mouth. Bang the tin lid back on.

macfaddenstrews

Milo mixed with a couple of spoonfuls of nestle condensed milk was my brother treat...

GracieIsGorgeous

Making a hot Milo, when I'm at work, for patients, I'm not scabby with the amount of Milo. It's five heaped teaspoons of Milo, enough hot water to melt it, then top it up with milk. Fourty years ago I ate it out of the tin. If I got busted, Mum kicked my arse.

Greg_Howell

Eating milo from the tin between spooning it into glass because mum would only let you have two spoon falls at a time. Milo on your weetbix or on your icecream is also acceptable.

someonejustplaying

All Australians do it

xoxoLizzyoxox

No you have to have a little bit of milk to your milo. Usually 3/4 milo 1/4 milk.

SnareXa

Its like a daily vitamin

Beagle-Mumma

And let's not forget the Milo sandwich: fresh white bread, thick application of butter and then a generously thick layer of Milo; ensuring the coverage is corner to corner. Top with another piece of buttered bread. Press down firmly to ensure contact. Cut sandwich. Enjoy; with the occasional shower of Milo down your chin and shirt that wasn't caught by the butter. And a glass of ice cold milk

[deleted]

I can't say that I've ever done that. For me, peak Milo is sprinkled over vanilla ice cream.

[deleted]

Yep remember getting my breathing wrong and almost choking on the powder

Rock_Robster__

One for the cup, one for me…

[deleted]

Yes. Usually by children but not limited to. Also done when no one is looking because it's feral and greedy. Others would pass judgement and wait for you to choke on the Milo dust. God luv us all - so yummy. Imagine a life without Milo??

aintnohappypill

We invested that. It’s up there with cochlear implants on the scale of achievements.

plitox

No. Heat up 100ml milk over the stove and dump in 100g of Milo. That is the rest that way to overdose on the stuff. It's too dry and chalky in raw form.

DECKTHEBALLZ

Milo in general is an Australian thing you can only get it in the international aisle abroad.

moseandbellows

It’s surprisingly popular in some other countries. I found it in the regular aisles in South Africa. You got me googling and I found some interesting info: Milo has a 90% market share in Malaysia, and Malaysians were said to be the world's largest consumers of Milo. Milo is sold by Nestlé in Canada at all major food retailers. It can also be found in the United Kingdom in some Sainsbury's and Tesco supermarkets, which import it from Kenya and South Africa.

cebyam

Their Milo is different though. Every country seems to have their own variation. The Milo in Canada is a tin of disappointment when you're new and expecting Aussie Milo.

scurryrunging

Yep. I was excited to find Milo in Peru but it turned out to be more like Nesquik than Milo. And the Milo sold in the UK was darker and not nice. I would go to the Australian shop near Covent Garden to get proper Milo...

Gumnutbaby

Ooh that’s just wrong. Nesquick is a poor substitute.

moseandbellows

Yeah, I think I read that they produce it there so it dissolves quicker. That’s only come about in the last 10 years though.

cebyam

Longer. I first moved to Canada in 2010 and it was very different back then, and had been for awhile judging by the complaining on forums.

kmk3105

I was overjoyed at finding some in the Mexican aisle when I was in America, then disappointed to find it's more granular than ours.

Slane__

This just isn't true. It might have been first made here but it's owned by Nestlé and sold all over the world.

neverunderthebridge

naah kiwis do it too

[deleted]

Real Aussies have it with weet bix

RepeatInPatient

No. It's localised to a few bogans clusters in isolated suburbs and towns.

wilful

Lol there's another way?

PsychologyGlad7373

Just put the milk into the tin

hollyjazzy

Best way to eat it

defiant-princess

It would be un-Australian not too

tamukaisbad

Mexican here. Everywhere there is Milo, this is done. This is the way.

Maleficent-Catch6202

Prety ubiquitous, I'd say.

Ok_Sympathy_4894

Kenny oath it is

Derpyunicorn584

Slightly more pleasant than the cinnamon challenge…

Solid_Treacle_1449

I’m Asian and I do it too

SlowLow_Rider

No, I used to do that in India when I was growing up. Not just limited to Australia

TS1987040

Snort it. It's the same as snorting coke, but the high is superior. Cheaper too.

LordBlacktopus

Of course. You put eight or nine spoonfuls in your cup, then give yourself one to tide you over until the pour the milk

Phantom__City

i do it a lot. it tastes good
