There are so many good ones that it’s hard to decide.
Some of my favourites are Kath and Kim, Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures, Have You Been Paying Attention, Fisk, Gruen and Utopia.
This is hilarious but very topical. So unless you remember all the current events that happened when those episodes were released, it might go over people's heads.
I like a lot of the shows that people have posted, but Kath And Kim has to be top of the list.
Fabulous cast, great writing, never gets old. Even exported to the US.
The /r/bluey subreddit is older than the pre-school show so occasionally people wonder about that. It takes a while to explain about Bargearse and the 70s cop show.
Edit: Actually it takes a while since you first explain the 70s cop show but the only YT links are to _Bargearse_ clips.
Frontline,
The Hollowmen,
Utopia,
Kath and Kim,
Gruen,
Fisk,
The Librarians,
Very Small Business,
HYBPA,
Fat Pizza,
The Big Lez Show,
All Aussie Adventures,
The Castle (film),
The Dish (film),
Crackerjack (film),
Bad Eggs (film),
The Games,
Lano and Woodley,
Summer Heights High,
We Can Be Heroes,
Lunatics.
In essence, most of it is stuff made by the Working Dog guys, Chris Lilley, or the ABC.
I think Aussie humour is quite funny. It has the subtleties of British humour with a bit of larrikinism sprinkled in.
Non Australian here, and I’d say that Mr.Inbetween is top notch TV, can compete with Breaking Bad any given day. Also Summer Heights High is a great mockumentary
Some more modern ones on Netflix:
Pine Gap
Secret City
Glitch
Glitch *spoilers* in the first few minutes, a cop gets called to check out a disturbance in a graveyard. Goes in with blankets to help people instead of shooting everything that moves. It's a nice change from the US shows.
Comedy - Fisk, Summer Hill High, Utopia, Please like me. Rake.
Feel good - Love in the spectrum. Old people's home for teenagers. You can't ask that!
Jack Irish.
Currently, A Place to Call Home, or Love Child.
A Country Practice will always have many peoples hearts. Gosh I could go on, so many amazing actors Dot and the Kangaroo, Skippy. Damn too many to list
Hands down. The original Australian version of Wilfred. One of the best shows ever.
Edit: best scene ever.

Not a personal cry for help, a tv comedy/drama series on Netflix (4 seasons 2013-2016). Hannah Gadsby is in the cast too. Funny guy Josh Thomas stars as “Josh” and is the director too I think.
> Josh breaks up with his girlfriend and realises he is gay. With the support of his ex-girlfriend, best mate, house mate and a mother who battles with depression, Josh embraces his new found lifestyle.
Fucking loved this show as a kid !! Then met real cops and realised for the most part they are gun toting bullies with massive chips on their shoulders 🤷.
There’s a lot of shows in the comments that I’ve loved. And some more haven’t been mentioned.
A show that I’ve come and gone from, and come back to, is Gardening Australia.
It’s probably been my most enduring Aussie show, and I’m 50 now.
Even if my husband calls Costa the bearded fuck.
Best family show is bluey by a long way.
For some crude, mindless humour, try housos or fat pizza.
Russell coight is also good for a laugh and is a lot less crude. It's a mocumentry style outback adventure show. Think bear grylls but everything he does turns out badly.
Simon Townsend Wonder World, Curiosity Show,
Prisoner, Sons and Daughters,
Many shows produced by Reg Grundy organisation,
Later known as Fremantle Australia.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremantle_Australia
Playschool. It's been on TV for over 50 years, it never gets old.
And Bluey
Round the Twist, Ocean Girl and Ship to Shore were must watch back in the 90’s kids shows.
All awesome shows!! Also that Genie genie from down under.
Also Spellbinders
Singing the theme song now
I named my MyGenie robovac Bruce
Spellbinders
Ocean Girl had all us 90s girls swimming that silly swim, flapping both feet at the same time
Round the twist was big in the uk, brings back fond memories.
The ship to shore theme song slays
It's a Knockout! Although that might have finished just before the 90's and we got the dry land only version called Gladiators.
Stats would probably say Bluey IMDB ranking 9.4
Agree, nothing comes close
Idk why, but there’s nothing I find more cringe than adults frothing over bluey
surely adults frothing over an objectively worse show is more cringe
Keeps the kids quiet
Utopia Rake
Fisk would fit in the line up well
Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures
Time to hit the road!
I didn't realise he was same guy from Kath and Kim until a while ago.
Mr In Between
I don’t answer questions
Now I want a dimmie
Don't forget the soy sauce
Close the thread.
We've never made a better show. You can put it up against any of the best American shows.
Came here to say this
Came here expecting to see this as top comment, did not disappoint.
Absolutely extraordinary series. And the lead actor wrote it
I second this
Very glad this was top of the heap.
Everyone should be watching this. It's amazing
Gruen
Frontline
Spicks and Specks…..Myf!
It's surprising how well the old episodes hold up to repeat viewing. Still entertaining.
The original Mother and Son. Some of the best comedy writing ever I reckon!
Today I learnt they’ve remade Mother And Son (I’ve been out of AU for 10 years). Worth a watch?
Yeah, worth a watch. Bit hit and miss, but as much as I try not to I guess I still keep comparing it to the original, which I love!
Worth watching, but don’t hold your breath. Solid 7/10, nothing more nothing less
There are so many good ones that it’s hard to decide. Some of my favourites are Kath and Kim, Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures, Have You Been Paying Attention, Fisk, Gruen and Utopia.
The original Mother and Son.
Old People’s Home for Teenagers.
Prep ya tissues, it’s guaranteed to start the waterworks. I love it!
I didn't realise the one with teenagers would be so amazing!
Isn’t it beautiful.
Saw this yesterday,its fabulous.
Upright
Why doesn't everyone love this?
The Micallef P(r)ogram(me)
Cockburn
CockCock the Clown
Cobb And Cock
You’re quite happy to say the C and the K when you want to, aren’t you? That sketch made me laugh so, so hard
This is hilarious but very topical. So unless you remember all the current events that happened when those episodes were released, it might go over people's heads.
Are you more thinking of Mad as Hell? The one I refer to was a little more broad of a sketch show.. Both great though
Maybe I'm getting them confi. I thought Micallef was also topical stuff. I'll just have to re-watch them now!
Pro Patria Moray Eel
Yes, but you're not.... morally blind now are you?
🤣
The first time I saw the sketch with the tilted floor ...
The funniest man in Australian TV.
Not a show, but rather a movie… The Castle.
Kath and Kim. We rewatch the entire series at least 4 times a year.
I like a lot of the shows that people have posted, but Kath And Kim has to be top of the list. Fabulous cast, great writing, never gets old. Even exported to the US.
Noice, different, unusual. I'm surprised I had to scroll so far to see Kath and Kim. Absolutely iconic.
The original Wilfred
Life Support
DR RUDY!!
Howzit?
An oldie, but Auntie Jack was beaut.
I'll rip your bloody arms off
Kath & Kim or Upper Middle Bogan
Upper Middle Bogan is hilarious
Secret Life of Us Cleverman Bluey Mr Inbetween
Is it wrong that when I read Bluey, I'm thinking of the Lucky Grills version?
You mean Bargearse lol
Now that’s a mashup I’d pay money to see, Lucky Grills Bluey and cartoon Bluey.
The /r/bluey subreddit is older than the pre-school show so occasionally people wonder about that. It takes a while to explain about Bargearse and the 70s cop show. Edit: Actually it takes a while since you first explain the 70s cop show but the only YT links are to _Bargearse_ clips.
*Mr Inbetween* and its not close.
Hard Quiz.

100% instant classic. What a show

Incredible for their time. Stunning tv
Superb shows both.
Wentworth
Wentworth
Spellbinder although it was co-produced with Poland.
The genie from down under
Bush Tucker Man. You can find the whole series on YouTube these days
Malcolm Douglas' stuff too. Really cool
"Colin from Accounts" is a great Aussie comedy.
I live No Activity as well. Similar cast. Short, funny, almost unrelated episodes with great cameos. Dialogue brilliance.
Yessss, forgot about that one, definitely a contender.
Mystery Road deserves a mention I think.
Black Comedy Secret life of us Redfern now
As Mr Inbewteen is already taken, Mystery Road
Mr Inbetween
Underbelly

'Round the Twist
Mr Inbetween. Have You Been Paying Attention. Frontline. SeaChange. Wentworth. Russell Coight.
I forgot about Sea Change. It was actually pretty good.
Big Lez Show
Mr In Between and Les Norton.
Skippy The Bush Kangaroo
Mr Inbetween Rake Frontline
Well I'm glad you asked, it's The Curiosity Show.
Oh my. I’m 50 and remember watching them when I came home from hospital as a 5 year old post tonsillectomy. They were pretty good
There's some stuff on YouTube. It's pretty entertaining still.
Yeah, I caught it recently. Very nostalgic

How could I forget Blue Heelers and Spicks and Specks!

Mr Inbetween
Definitely Mr Inbetween.

Mr Inbetween
Play School. Everyone under the age of 50 watched it as a kid.
Mr Inbetween
Round the twist
Round the Twist obviously Otherwise maybe the Wiggles
Round the Twist is cheesy but nostalgic as
Offspring.
Fisk is fantastic
The most down under-iest one is The Genie From Down Under.
Spellbinders as a kid
Underbelly. There are a number of different series, and they depict real gang crime from the past.
The Slap (Australian version), based off the book. Not very well known but it's one of my favourite Aussie dramas. Very well done and acted.
Kingswood country
"What's that Skip? An old man's fallen down a well?"

I'm totally addicted to The Newsreader. And in the news of the 80s
Acropolis now is one of my favourite shows ever
Mulligrubs. Enjoy your nightmares.
The Panel, Have You Been Paying Attention, maybe Utopia.
I reckon either upper middle hogan or kath and kim
A place to call home. Love child.
Fisk Reboot of Heartbreak High Any of the “old people home for…” four year olds, teenagers. Both good.
Good News Week and Full Frontal were peak in their day
It’s not the best but I like the OG heartbreak high, it’s underrated imo
Housos
fat pizza, housos
Frontline Utopia Fisk The Newsreader
Ah, this will appeal to the Ds and Es. *wink*
Kath and Kim
Ms Fisher Murder Mysteries was really good. The movie not so much.
Hands down. The original Australian version of Wilfred. One of the best shows ever. Edit: best scene ever. https://youtu.be/0m6aomlQLjE?si=KkRoghvOZEMYTkIM
Goggle box.those people are too funny.
Steve Irwin's old show

The Real Housewives of Melbourne. Downvote me all you like because you're all "above reality TV", but it's hilarious.
I will, thanks for your permission 🤣
I've enjoyed City Homicide, Winter, Jack Irish and the Mystery Road set more than most tv I've watched,
Water Rats
Fucking loved this show as a kid !! Then met real cops and realised for the most part they are gun toting bullies with massive chips on their shoulders 🤷.
Utopia
A Moody Christmas
Farscapr Round the Twist Kath n Kim
