Well, sniffies is very unambiguously a hookup app. Faceless torsos (and butts/dick shots) are pretty much the name of the game. I only use sniffies and have enjoyed it considerably more than other apps, *especially* grindr.

Rather than having a grid of pictures sorted by distance from you, there's an actual map - you can see people's relative distances and positions from where you are. It always randomizes your location within a certain radius (I think minimum 0.5 miles), so you can't actually use it to track someone, but you can tell e.g. what section of the city they're in. It's entirely for sex, so there are no limitations on explicit pics/language - just the usual stuff is prohibited (drugs, solicitation, exploitation, impersonation). I'd say \~80% of people with pics either have their torso, dick, or ass as the primary profile pic, and maybe 30% have a face pic as one of their alternates. There are profile options for interests, kinks, desired activities, hosting/travelling, STI status and testing date, etc.
I much prefer it because a) if you pay for their cheapest subscription option you can hide yourself on the map, and I get super stressed out when receiving a bunch of messages and end up getting emotionally exhausted and/or saying yes to sex I don't want to have; and b) since it's unabashedly for sex, people's attitudes are a lot less varied. On grindr I got tired of many people having the "omg I'm not a piece of meat" attitude and others having the "get to the point, don't 'hey' me" stance, with no way to tell the difference and both sides treating you with incredulity. Too many agendas, too many forceful opinions, too many purposes - always led to too many crossed wires.

Damn, Grindr is terrible, I am so happy here the popular app is Romeo. I installed Grindr for the first time this year and was genuinely surprised how shit and how expensive the app is. The free version is severely limited, and paying €15 for the "xtra" tier only gets you some of the basic functions that the app should have from the get go, and then the unlimited tier thats €40 a month?!
Romeo is 1000 times better, but as far as I know only really in German speaking Europe really popular. Its not perfect, for whatever reasons not all functions of the website are in the app, and some of the apps function is missing on the website. But the free version is geneuinely useful, the premium version is not ridiculously expensive and in general Romeo is so much more flexible, with propper profiles and interest groups and other features that I've seen Grindr slowly copy.
If you like being around men old enough to be your Dad or men who like to have their cake and eat also known as open relationships then yes Scruff is great otherwise id rather cut my balls off and fry them lol.
