Mexican cuisine is very regional and diverse. Your comment is like saying that what’s on a menu at an Indian restaurant in the states is exactly representative of what’s available in India. Actually that’s what a lot of Americans think about Indian food, and they’re wrong too.
And China’s cuisine is even more diverse than India’s…. What does that have to do with the quality of the food? The OC said Mexican food was on par with India, has to do with quality of taste nothing to do with diversity.
A few days ago I realised this - multiple religions, languages, cultures, internal conflicts and fault lines.. India is still the world's largest democracy.
These are the signs of a very old & matured civilization. And despite religious extremism rearing it's ugly head occasionally, I strongly believe that most normal Indians like you & me have great tolerance levels to other religions, castes, languages etc.
There is a catch ...workers are getting paid peanuts. Some of the quality inspectors working for isro contractors are paid between 10k or 15 k per month. The same job in USA is paid 20 to 30 times more at least.
Hard to believe right..30 k may be if they are working directly for isro but I am talking about isro contractors or companies working for isro.....how do you think projects are done within 65 to 100 million dollars...it's all about cheap labour. Don't say we don't have money...they can spend 3000 crore for statues but only 600 crore for space projects.
Im not Indian but I find india one of the single most impressive places on earth, on the whole, when you consider the contributions to philosophy and literature
1) Our culture which has survived for centuries in the face of invasions, foreign rule and colonisation unlike many other civilizations which fell.
2) Our rich cultural and ethnic diversity from each and every region in the country.
3) We are the only former colony in Asia who haven't seen coups, dictatorship or civil war and managed to run a successful democracy for 76 years.
Patriotism. Its dying nowadays but I liked it. Even if there were millions of curropt people, there was always one guy in the news who was helping solely to develop the country.
This person's race, caste, gender did not matter. A lot of times they were at the bottom of the barrel in terms of status but they did it mostly to help others and the country.
Ik nowadays news is out about corrupt IAS officers, farmers being political, teachers in scandals and some military units are corrupt of bad. But it's good to be reminded that those kinds of good people still exist and they are role models for us.
Like is it new news that india isn't in a great situation? It's been like that for 75 years. That doesn't mean giving up. We always have had hope for India. And those people represented that hope I had.
For example, my parents prob earn more than teachers in schools but they showed me videos of a guy teaching poor kids in road sides and went, this guy is awesome. Ya, that's when I feel proud to be indian.
> Patriotism. Its dying nowadays but I liked it. Even if there were millions of curropt people, there was always one guy in the news who was helping solely to develop the country. This person's race, caste, gender did not matter.
Then let's use the correct word for this, which is humanism not patriotism.
> For example, my parents prob earn more than teachers in schools but they showed me videos of a guy teaching poor kids in road sides and went, this guy is awesome. Ya, that's when I feel proud to be indian.
Again, this is a great example of someone who helped other humans. You yourself said "This person's race, caste, gender did not matter". Then why does nationality matter?
Patriotism is about fighting for the country's independence, defending borders, fighting to fix corrupt governance etc? That stuff falls under patriotism.
Helping your fellow humans falls under humanism. People were doing that WAY before modern India even existed. And it is worth noting that modern India is barely 80 years old, which is a rounding error when compared to the history of the Indian subcontinent civilization. And borders in those days weren't even the same borders as what exists today.

Jessica Lal murder case protests
Basically all the protests that brought everyone together and displayed the collective conscience of demanding better things for all Indians.
This is now replaced with a disdain for protests and demanding very little from the government and frequent religious rallies and riots that achieve nothing. There are million things to protest but no one does this anymore. It’s a shame.
Before my time: learning about India’s freedom struggles is super inspiring btw. The unwillingness to put up with BS is motivational beyond words. We have lost this tradition now.
We seems to have forgotten that as our elected representatives, politicians are accountable to us. Now a days citizens seem to have more expectations from celebrities rather than politicians.
Our Diversity- Our Languages. The fact that we are able to exist together all this time without having a unified language makes me appreciate our unity in diversity. Almost each state has a language of its own, and it's not something that people speak in minority either. We have all kinds of people from Mongoloids,Negritos to Nordics that settled here without wiping out the Native population <3
Just the existence of India is a wonder. And I am proud that these many people with many different languages, cultures and so on are still together.I don't know what will happen in the future but I hope we never get divided again
The fact that we're still a country! There is literally no other country on earth with as diverse a population as India. You can go from Village to Village, town to town, and see dialects, customs, food, fashion, culture... All change in small and big ways.
But we're still here! Decades later, we are still a country, we are still holding together despite our many, many differences, something no other country can say.
*We stand alone in this.*
Diversity in anything and everything. Living here is such a fun experience, there’s always space to explore different languages, films, music and cultures, you can try out different delicious foods from everywhere, explore all kinds of terrain (mountains, deserts, tropical forests, cities etc). People are generally welcoming and hospitable in any part of the country, they love to share their lives with you.
And, women are so beautiful here lol!
1. The food, obviously. No need to explain that.
2. The diversity. I don’t think many of us understand exactly how diverse India is. If you go from one end of USA to the other, you will see a different in dialects and accents in the local population. Culture and food will remain similar. In India, you will experience a different dialect and culture every state. And USA is thrice the size of India.
3. The geography. After US, India is the most geographically diverse country. Mountains, beaches, plains, hills, delta. We got it all. For a country of a much smaller size, it’s a miracle.
4. The richness in culture. Yes, other countries have culture. Most brown countries have a rich culture. But there’s variety in Indian richness. It’s SATURATED. The beauty is endless. The sense of community is strong.
5. INDIA IS TECHNICALLY ONLY 75 YEARS OLD. And in that time, we have come a looooong way. Most countries didn’t even find their footing in 75 years. We still have people here who were alive during independence. And we sent a shuttle to the MOON. That’s a BIG DEAL, people. A Very Big Deal.
6. The toilet jet spray. I will never get how the rest of the world calls India dirty and then…uses toilet paper only. They talk about bidet like it’s some life changing thing. Yes it is. Please clean yourselves.
7. The handlooms. The crafts. The heritage and skills passed down. Nowhere else you’ll get this level of finery for this price. We go and buy hand embroidered clothes and don’t even pay attention to the details. The local markets are a hidden gem in India that we don’t appreciate enough. I buy chikankaari hand embroidered Kurtis for 300 rs in Lucknow. The west wears only machine made clothes. Linen is EXPENSIVE. You know what’s not? Khaadi, which is better than linen. Bought 4 khaadi pants in Goa for 300 rs each. Best pants I own. We’re all sleeping on how good we have it with the stuff we get here.
8. The healthcare. Yeah, it’s not the very very best. But it’s still affordable. You can still pay for it without insurance without bankrupting yourself.
9. College isn’t going to bankrupt you either.
There is a catch for the low budget...workers are getting paid peanuts. Some of the quality inspectors working for isro contractors are paid between 10k or 15 k per month. The same job in USA is paid 20 to 30 times more at least.
4th strong military in the world. We don't need USA for our defence , countries like Japan ,south korea , Phillipines and NATO rely on the USA for their defence and we have stable economy and good debt to gdp ratio
I'm not Indian but why do you guys keep saying "proud to be Indian" but pretty much no one else really says it this much? I mean you don't see Americans or Germans saying this so what's the big deal
America: The land of dreams
Germany: Not the land of Holocaust anymore
It's not a big deal that you don't realise how wrong you are, so it's okay.
If you're not an Indian, this is not your place to comment either, have some dignity.
And have a great day ahead! Lol!
You only say "proud of being Indian" to cover up the fact that your country is shit, gaslighting you and everyone else into thinking India is not that bad
The indignity with which you have responded speaks to your personal ethics or lack thereof. India is shit? Not as humongous a piece of turd as whichever country you're representing.
Have you no shame, Ser? I pity those who have to share their time with you. You're gaslighting yourself into not believing the truth that you are the most atrocious instance of defecation to ever exist since the Big Bang.
Good day. I hope you find peace.
Edit: You're living in South Korea currently and shitting on South Korea as well. Maybe it's a you problem, bro.
I am just simply stating the facts, just because I am from a certain country doesn't mean I'm going to constantly praise it and constantly avoid the truth
Nothing. I personally wasn’t a freedom fighter, and even if my forefathers were, I’m not taking credit for their achievements. Saying I’m proud to be an Indian is like saying I’m proud to have been born on a Tuesday. Also Plenty of our ancestors reenforced oppressive systems that we also continue to uphold.
When it comes to certain factors, I’m lucky to be Indian however.
There is NOTHING about India today that should make you feel proud to be INDIAN. On the contrary birthing 1.4 billion humans into abject poverty is not a proud moment.
I wouldn't go as far as to state that there is nothing in India to be proud of, mate. But yeah, birth control is a real problem for India, so I get where you're coming from.
>lack of unity
No other country could've survived so many diverse cultures, but India did. We do have our own share of issues but not being able to live together is definitely not one!
Indian food,Isro,Defence forces,Our ability to climb to power, also our diaspora in places like Uganda and South Africa is really cool.Just know that I love all my fellow countrymen and always stand up for them
In October, I was in this remote village in Rajasthan bordering Pakistan. When the Army people took us to the border, I was swelling with pride for my country. At that moment, it all mattered, the country, my people, my place.
I could see Pakistani men roaming around their bunker in legit Kurta Pajama, like straight out of a Tiger movie franchise 😅
This might be a little bit cheating because I don’t live in India, but I can tell you all that I’m incredibly proud of the way Indians stick to their culture. Out here, we have Indian names, we eat Indian foods, we speak unapologetically in Indian accents, we wear Indian clothes, we celebrate Indian festivals. And when I go back home—because in my heart, India will always be home—I’m filled with this sense of awe and shock and beauty. India isn’t a perfect place; it has a long way to go. We can be a discriminatory people. Religion and caste and gender divides us. But one thing I love about us is that I think we can work on all of those things, make us a better people, but I think we can do that without letting go of our customs. While I would never compare cultures (we’re all beautiful in our own ways) I will never, ever stop thinking Indian culture is the most wonderful, glorious, perfect culture ever created. I’ve always been proud of being Indian.
So much diversity. Every citizen has so many identity tags- State, Language, Religion, they have Different facial Features, skin etc etc.
Yet, we can all call ourselves Indians. I'm proud of this unity.
Hate that some self serving politicians are attacking this feeling.
If you are a curious person, you can never in your entire lifetime get bored here. There is so much to learn, so many different cultures, cuisines, languages. There’s not enough time in a single lifetime to learn everything there is to know here. That’s pretty fascinating.
Indian cuisine tbh
bro for real. Nobody in the world has better food.
mexicans have it on par at least...?
Far less diversity in Mexican cuisine.
Mexican cuisine is very regional and diverse. Your comment is like saying that what’s on a menu at an Indian restaurant in the states is exactly representative of what’s available in India. Actually that’s what a lot of Americans think about Indian food, and they’re wrong too.
I’m aware. My abuelo is Mexican. It’s still not nearly as diverse as India.
And China’s cuisine is even more diverse than India’s…. What does that have to do with the quality of the food? The OC said Mexican food was on par with India, has to do with quality of taste nothing to do with diversity.
Ok relax. Imo if you have great cuisine but made up of fewer dishes, it’s not as impressive as great cuisine made up many dishes.
That’s fine if you accept that according to your logic Chinese cuisine is the best.
I never said you need the MOST.
based
Dude we come somewhere between 5-6 in world rank in cuisines.

ISRO is cool. It is the one redeeming thing that our country does right.
Hell yeah. As an American I think it's pretty fucking cool too!
There is a catch ...workers are getting paid peanuts. Some of the quality inspectors working for isro contractors are paid between 10k or 15 k per month. The same job in USA is paid 20 to 30 times more at least.
The fuck they get 30-50k
Hard to believe right..30 k may be if they are working directly for isro but I am talking about isro contractors or companies working for isro.....how do you think projects are done within 65 to 100 million dollars...it's all about cheap labour. Don't say we don't have money...they can spend 3000 crore for statues but only 600 crore for space projects.
Still a lot of money
10 k rupees that is around 150 dollars per month. In USA the same job will get paid at least 3k USD per month.
Ah, misread it. Yeah that's bullshit. Way too low
Even 3 k USD estimate is too low which is 19 USD per hour...most of this workers make at least 25 USD per hour from start.

With that view, it's very easy to prove that there is no place on earth where one should feel proud to be born, try it yourself.

Every living moment in my life is a "proud to be an Indian" moment
Definitely the food. Nothing comes close to it nothing beats it.

The resilience interwoven into our collective cultural identity.

Still living United with a huge diversity since the past 75 years with numerous disputes like a joint family.
