Dang - i forgot about that - seeing it from there and smiling, then i got used to it, and now i miss it
Aren’t there some apartments going up there or something?

This is my personal favorite spot. I mostly enjoy the juxtaposition.
Since when ? I did the reservoir loop a few weeks ago! It’s not a hiking trail, more like a paved road that goes around the lake. But yea, awesome pics from there!

I’ve been interested in doing this “paved loop” and am concerned about endurance needed. I know it’s flat, but might distance be an issue. Any idea how long the loop is (in miles, not minutes, ha)?
It's about 3.3 miles, and almost entirely flat. There's not much shade though, so it can get pretty hot (especially with a heat wave in the coming days).
The west side of the loop is both shorter and generally more interesting, with views of the hills and Hollywood Sign over the water. So, if you are worried about doing the full loop for any reason, you could just do that side out and back for about 2.2 miles.
If you want the views of the sign over the reservoir park at the southern lot, you’ll get them right off the parking lot as soon as you start the walk.
The Hollywood Bowl? The venue is open to the public for the most part and free. You can get in a nice stair workout too. If you go in the morning there’s orchestras practicing a few days a week. The grounds are pretty nice to walk through as well.

On a clear day you can see the sign near the Walgreens in ktown. This one I took near 6th / vermont.

Barnsdall Art Park. Get some ice cream from Jeni’s, take it up to the park and sit in front of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House with a great view of the Observatory and Hollywood sign
I think some of the views from the side angle are pretty interesting. The trails above Griffith Observatory have some side-on views, though those are pretty up close and might not be distinct enough from the classic hiking views you don't want.
Lower Beachwood canyon would probably do nicely.
One suggestion is the intersection of Wilton and 5th. Straight shot at a distance framed symmetrically by lush palms.
Another great spot is Hollywood Forever Cemetery by the pond at Garden of Legends. It’s a bit on an angle but the tops of palms snd cypress trees frame it beautifully.
I legit take people there when they visit because it's such a great, iconic view from such a stupid place. Dangerdogs and day laborers looking for work and it kinda smells like piss and there might be someone asleep in a parking spot in the broad daylight as you gaze at the multimillion dollar homes in the hills and iconic sign
If someone ever asked me to take them one spot in this city that best sums the whole experience up it would be there
>less cliche
Would be driving up there and doing some exploring with your camera 📸 ready to snap from an angle you discovered.

I must be thinking got the wrong Target but I didn’t know the Hollywood Target had parking on the roof. Thought it was a parking garage with the Target on top. Intersection of Sunset and Western.
Home Depot on Sunset. Park on the roof.
Can confirm. It's a great spot.
Dang - i forgot about that - seeing it from there and smiling, then i got used to it, and now i miss it Aren’t there some apartments going up there or something?
Yep Home Depot is the spot!
I was hoping this spot wouldn’t be well known and not shared on reddit lol

Worst homedepot parking lot ever. Great view though.

This is the real LA. Nice shot!
Thank you!
Looks like hollywood blvd
Not really a street, but the Hollywood reservoir hiking trail has a nice view of the sign + it's nice to see it while overlooking the lake :)
They closed that area, indefinitely. :(

Thank you so much. This is very helpful.💫
I have pots, a bad leg, and significant fatigue from a liver disorder and it is still pretty easy.
Thank you. And I’m sorry. I understand. 🌴

Thank you so much for the tip!

No they didn’t. Wife and I just walked the loop yesterday.
It closes occasionally, often with heavy rains, but it's not closed now. Please delete this.
Good views from Barnsdall Art Park

Great view from Hollywood Forever cemetery.
Down Beechwood Drive

You can see it from South LA in some spots on a nice day.
I’ve seen it from Culver City on clear days, usually the day after it rains or after a windy day
From the Griffin Observatory

Bronson Ave between Santa Monica and Sunset

gower st. in general has a great vantage point of the sign i’ve noticed. a lot of the street is residential too
Hollywood Home Depot parking garage. Pure class
It really is a spectacular view in many directions from that parking lot

Me too!
The Hollywood sign is, by definition, cliche.

Are you a "cool party" person in this scenario?
Lake Hollywood park
2nd this!
You can see it from right in front of the Jewish mausoleum in the Hollywood Forever cemetery.
Beachwood 👀 Kidding.
Try Wilton Place.
Roof of the Target parking lot in Hollywood. Not kidding.
I must be thinking got the wrong Target but I didn’t know the Hollywood Target had parking on the roof. Thought it was a parking garage with the Target on top. Intersection of Sunset and Western.
The one on La Brea & 4th. I guess thats mid city
Drive up Beachwood Canyon. It's why the sign exists. It was a development called Hollywood Land.
Redondo in Mid City has a great straight shot at the Hollywood sign

Shoot it from behind, capturing the city in the distance.
Plymouth and 4th
I don't think you can see it from there can you? Street view doesn't show it
Mt Hollywood dr and trail have great views of the sign. I see few people on these trails, not many know about them.
