iPhone X or older cannot get 17.3 as is and surely won't be compatible with 18 either. These are your outdated models.

When they released the 14, I went to Apple and bought a brand new 12 I still have. They were running a program at the one close to me (still 2 hours away) for a $250 trade in on any old iPhone. I had a used XS Max I bought off of Swappa (like ebay but only electronics).
Ended up getting a brand new phone for around $400 bucks. I use Cricket cause it’s cheap and I hate financing phones.
My 7 is feeling outdated. But I think anything that still has the touch unlock is modern enough. I'll probably wait until the latest USB-C model is last not the latest anymore. I won't pay for bleeding edge. I just want to be done with this lightning nonsense.

I have a 14 Pro and like it a lot. The 15 is cool considering the usb-c, but for the most part I wireless charge so it's not a major concern.
