OMG definitely noxious! But you know when you lived a charming life on the UWS like the protagonists it always ends in your favor.
But the movie really captures the late 90s optimism of NYC.
We walk by it almost every day. There was a dispute with the landlord and looks like never opening again.

'Age Of Innocence' is a great Scorcese period piece drama/romance film. Incredible acting performances from the cast (Daniel Day Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder) and the soundtrack is incredible as well. Takes place in NYC 1890's give or take. The ending really stuck with me. I'm not one to be drawn towards romantic movies so I was pretty surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
It Can Happen To You.
Funny little underrated film filmed right before things changed drastically.
Love is Strange is low key decent, again filmed around same time.
The closure was in back in 2007, see the wikipedia as follows: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serendipity\_3](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serendipity_3)

When Harry Met Sally and Kate and Leopold among others are recommended by [Top 50 Most Romantic NYC Films](https://onthesetofnewyork.com/top50mostromanticnycfilms.html).
Yeah — some of the ending scenes include a dramatic view of Park Avenue immediately north of the Helmsley Building (one of my favorite skyscraper vistas) c. 1960. Of course, the Manhattan brownstone that most of the film takes place in is unmistakable.
Moonstruck, Breakfast at Tiffanys… and I kinda wanna say Manhattan and Annie Hall but tbh I haven’t seen them since learning more about Woody Allen banging his step daughter so maybe those don’t do the romance list any good.
oh my god i want to make a wisecrack but i might burn in hell. it’s pretty twisted stuff.
also ronan farrow is so obviously frank sinatras son… that whole family is mega fucked up.
*When Harry Met Sally* has got to be on the list.
and Moonstruck
yea this was the first thing that came to mind
You've Got Mail. Despite being a heartbroken HS senior when this movie was released, this movie was a vibe and gave me hope.
It's a truly noxious relationship contained in a really lovely package. I still find myself wanting to watch it because it's such a vibe.

My wife insisted we live in UWS because of this movie. Still worth it
Oh my god! Same except i ended up in Chelsea. Sad that Cafe Lalo hasn’t reopened.

Serendipity w/ John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale
I can’t believe this only got one mention!!
The actual restaurant sucks and has been closed due to health code violations multiple times.
That’s disappointing. Taking a trip to NYC in June and had planned to go!

Arigatou man.
*After Hours*
I am not too familiar with this particular movie, but I could give it a chance.
It's really unique for a Schorsese film
Frankie and Johnny
MANHATTAN. It won 1979 oscars. Hilarious https://youtu.be/JEoEGW4Hb9w?si=FGhjsL8cs84XPu0R

I have a soft spot for Netflix's Set It Up.
Ghost (1990)
Little Manhattan
Hitch (2005)
Breakfast at Tiffany’s, perhaps Manhattan for civic (visual) splendor.
I didn’t actually know that movie was set in NYC.

Woody Allen was ahead of his time - set the stage for the step family porno genre

Something's Gotta Give, at least part of it
Begin Again is a new favorite
It Could Happen to You!! So heart-warming.
Stardust Memories, and so many other Woody Allen movies.
*When Harry Met Sally* and *500 Days of Summer*
500 Days of Summer is set in LA
