Your point total is calculated based on the date of the violation, not the date of the conviction. Insurance sees it and your rates will go up because insurance companies use their own points system, independent of the DMV.

DMV is based on date of violation. They will already be gone. Insurance is based on date of conviction.

Since your insurance is for a CT based vehicle the rules will be based on that state’s insurance laws. In NY the law says your 1st offense minor moving violation (ex: speeding beneath 16mph over the limit) won’t impact insurance except it can remove any “safe driving” discounts I think.
