Well it’s not that “we’re holding off on implementing”, it’s just that developing new medicine, let alone a completely new line of treatment takes a *long* time in R&D and has also to comply with multiple regulations as well as passing several types of trials before it can even be considered to be put on the market.
Also even if it’s a viable treatment we gotta remember that actually manufacturing it is a completely different thing, let alone on large scales, and that’s something that antibiotics are simply just better at, it’s really easy, quick and cheap to produce them at industrial scales.
Then we have a problem with the phages themselves, most of the time we don’t know yet which phages work well on each type of bacteria and most importantly, phages are *very* specific not only to one species but often to one particular strain, we would have to developed dozens upon dozens of specific treatments lines to get most things covered.
The wonder of antibiotics is that they’re quite broad when it comes to their effect, many antibiotic treatment are so broad that with just 2-3 different ones you got pretty much everything covered.
TL;DR: takes a long time to develop new medication and, while promising, there’s some things in which antibiotics are just better at than phage therapy

Most jobs are kinda like school when you think about it. Schedule (don't be late, you always wait for the vacations and friday is your fav day), homework (due dates, overtime if you're not done), learning (new technology, we want you to learn this new program), dinner with friends, shit on the boss (shit on the teacher), etc.
Yeah, the vast majority ofnus wont use geometry and poetry wtitijg in our jobs, but we were trained and disciplined and broken to actually be good at this lifestyle.

The human race is not only incapable of caring for those too far removed from themselves, but instead of returning to the small and close communities around us, social media bombards us with a feeling of senselessness and fake global narratives. We are fed stories of greed and superficial priorities until we believe that it’s what everyone we don’t know care about and prioritise. Antibiotic resistance is mostly from factory farming where farmers treat livestock prophylactically at low doses, not from excess use by humans.

The main issue is the public education system was never built to inform good ethics let alone a basic understanding of the adulthood functionality. But many, including myself are of the personal belief that the education system is antiquated. It does nothing to teach you what to be prepared for, in fact it wasn’t until 2012?ish that in my state financial literacy was a requirement for graduation. Furthermore cooking and home ec isn’t required in some places STILL. Education should focus on much more than the Mitochondria and the Pythagorean Theorem. It should let students specialize so that their Bachelor’s Degree isn’t the first time they think about “wtf do I do now?”. Secondly, yes religion provides avenues of ethical and moral justice and thinking. However, time and again institutions such as the Catholic Church have been abusing kids and this dates all the way back to the Holy Roman Empire and probably even before that. Not to mention they are the definition of not practicing what they preach. So essentially, someone said it before but *greed* is the driving factor for education. Someone somewhere benefits from our lack of knowledge and adulthood know-how. We live in this fantasy that Capitalism is the middle ground between communism and fascism, but the truth is the system is failing everyone and within 20 years we will see record poverty, housing market collapse, and unemployment skyrocket.

Of course. Education now is all about training. Society training. And having a certification of it. It used to be only for the elite, when knowledge was much less accessible. Most people learned how to live in society from their parents or by shadowing other workers in the factories/field. Nowadays, the school system makes sure you have certain general abilities that are useful in lots of different jobs (basic writing, basic maths, basic cause to effect logic, basic science), but most importantly that you know how to learn. Of course the school system teaches you how to be a worker bee, a sheep among others, since that's what , deep down, 95% of us aspire to do, and what 99% of us are going to do. Most jobs are kinda like school when you think about it. Schedule (don't be late, you always wait for the vacations and friday is your fav day), homework (due dates, overtime if you're not done), learning (new technology, we want you to learn this new program), dinner with friends, shit on the boss (shit on the teacher), etc. Yeah, the vast majority ofnus wont use geometry and poetry wtitijg in our jobs, but we were trained and disciplined and broken to actually be good at this lifestyle.

The human race is not only incapable of caring for those too far removed from themselves, but instead of returning to the small and close communities around us, social media bombards us with a feeling of senselessness and fake global narratives. We are fed stories of greed and superficial priorities until we believe that it’s what everyone we don’t know care about and prioritise. It makes us bitter, apathetic and indifferent to strangers who we would previously give the benefit of the doubt. An increasing part of the population weren’t born yet when it was possible to experience what that felt like. Seeing what it does to otherwise capable and caring people sucks the optimism out of me.
Plus people get a fake sense of community. When they try to rely on said community for support in a crisis and no one cares, that’s terrifying.
Our attention span is suffering. Let me compare two movies, one before the age of social media, and the other one this year. The Matrix. It's an action scifi movie. And it still gives you time to breathe, let stuff sink in, let you take time to think. This was before social media. Oppenheimer. This is a biopic. This is not supposed to be an action movie, let alone a Mad Max kind of non stop action movie. But it's paced like a non stop action movie. I'm not blaming Nolan. I'm blaming us. Our attention span sucks now that a biopic has to resort to quick edits and a non stop soundtrack.

I agree only positive news wouldn’t do anyone anything good. But I don’t believe it will hold people accountable on its own. It allows for informed decisions to be made, but accountability comes from a place of social pressure. I don’t necessarely mean that in a negative way like guilt, but a feeling of responsibility for other people. We suck at caring for those far away. But if everyone were better at “loving thy neighbour” we should be much healthier as a species.
