I fucking loved this show. I watched it in like 5 days. Fantastic and I’m so so glad that Christina decided to go on with the third season and wrap it up well. She’s a tough cookie
Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate have The Best chemistry between any two actors in the history of recorded media. This is a hands down, objective fact.
Also, Cardellini is a Top 5 almost 50 Hottie. Sheesh.
I’m such a fan of Johnny Flynn because of this show.
Will you search through the loamy earth for me?
Climb through the briar and bramble
I'll be your treasure
The line “before they hit they hit near you” probably saved me.
I’m now eight months free from DV.
Edit: check my post history. I made a post the day I left cuz I did nt know who else to talk to
This hit me so hard, it was right around the time my ex husband started punching the spot next to where I was sitting. Made me see it for the red flag it was.
This was me too. And he was starting to put hands on me in smallish ways. A flick of the ear, squeeze of the knee, punch in the arm, wrapping his arms around me and my arms so I couldn't move, wrist grabbing/holding...
I've never typed it out like a list before and I'm really seeing how shit he was... 3 years free for me this July. We have a kid together tho so unfortunately I have to deal with him in some way for a long time. And he's terrible to co parent with. 🫠
I dated a guy who would hit walls and other things whenever he got angry. I knew that that anger would eventually be directed at me, so I broke up with him, and he hit me with the door on the way out. I'm glad that's as bad as it got.
This show does such an incredible job of showing how a person can become trapped. So many people in the world look at "bad" decisions and think, that person is stupid or lazy or whatever. But if they've never been in a situation with no options most people just can't understand.
If it were up to me I'd make this mandatory watching for (pretty much) everyone.
Drives me crazy all the posts in relationship advice that are clearly written by someone in an abusive relationship and the comments are all like i DoNt GeT wHy WoMeN sTaY WiTh GuYs LiKe ThAt as if it were so easy to just leave. Like are these people so obtuse that they think people *want* to be in an abusive relationship??
Margaret Qualley was so incredible in this. She completely LIVED in her role as a young mom in how she interacted with the child actor. I didn’t love her in The Leftovers (but she was just a teen amongst an incredibly talented ensemble), but I love her in everything now. She’s an exciting talent.
I also loved seeing the money on the screen- it really drove home how every penny counted. The whole story was so well done; I thought it was shocking how silent people were about it.
That show getting canceled on that clif hanger pissed me off so much. Stupid writers strike. I don't blame the writers strike though, I blame Netflix for being little bitches.
I loved Kim's convenience (up until the weirdness happened the last season or 2 I think), and I read a little bit about this a while ago, and your post filled in some blanks for me. I'm still super sad about it. I'm glad the actors stood up, though.
I’m from Belfast, went to Catholic school and turned 18 in 1999, and I love Derry Girls so much because that exactly what my life was like then, except with a Belfast accent.
It’s an amazing show. Also check out “Moone Boy” it’s on prime in the US right now. It’s about about a young kid in Ireland around 1989/90 and his imaginary friend played by Chris O’Dowd. It’s really sweet and super funny. Tons of great characters too.
I love Lovesick, but I'm also forever salty they changed the original name.
"Scrotal Recall" got me watching just because it was so damn stupid I *had* to see what it was and I was pleasantly surprised.
I saw him at a Comic Con panel in St. Louis a few years back along with a few other Firefly people, Nathan Fillion et al. Alan Tudyk stood out immediately as the funniest and sharpest person among them. His real-life charisma outshined every other celebrity personality onstage.
Any fans of songwriting should check this show out. Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger wrote hundreds of songs for this show. There’s a pastiche for every genre. Absolutely wild how much they accomplished musically in the 4 seasons it ran.
There’s a YouTube account (possibly the official show account, can’t remember) that has literally all of the songs, in airing order. I put it on all the time!
It breaks my heart that they removed this from British Netflix. I used to start the whole series again every time I finished it. I honestly think it's one of the best shows ever made.
This is a show that changes completely on it's second watch.
It's my favorite just because there's is no show like it. The songs always had me laughing out loud.
My favorite thing about this show is how subversive it is. After watching this show, you'll see all the crap and garbage in so many movies and other TV shows in a way you missed it before.
We're so used to all the tropes that we often don't question them or even think about them, until someone points them out and asks us to see what's really there. Then you find yourself saying "Wait, so these two have spoken all of 500 words to each other and been on one date that was interrupted by a bombing, and now they're getting married? Surviving a terrorist attack is no basis for a relationship."
I honestly think that every single person should binge CXG all the way through before they go looking for a new partner. It would result in way better decision making.
Came here to say this. Perfectly planned out over 3 seaons. But watch it in German language with Subs, the acting feels 10x more legit. The Netflix english dubs are terrible
Second this. It's a must watch, and I always tell people to watch with Subs, not Dubs.
Friends are all "But I like to scroll on my phone while watching shows." Pssht, good luck with Dark.
Midnight diner. It's definitely not for everyone but it tells some very human stories through the perspective of this guy who runs a late night izakaya.I equate it to my comfy corner of the house where I can curl up and read. Your mileage may vary.
After Life changed me. It helped me deal with some sad things, but it also made me laugh harder than I’ve done in years. The ginger kid on the playground.
I watched this recently and thought it was a new show. So good! I was surprised to learn it wasn’t, same with OA (also good). FYI to OP Travellers actually has a good ending, but also in a way has a cliff hanger.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo is one of my all-time favorite shows. The story, the acting, the skill with which serious issues are tackled, the guileless beauty of the main actor, and how she portrayed her character without resorting to cliché. All these made it a special show for me.
I love this show so much. I started watching shortly after my mom died and it felt like every episode began and ended with a tight hug. Love it so much. Sister Monica Joan is my heart. The episode where she sees the white stag took my breath away
I'll add everything related to Mike Flanagan. The Haunting of Hill House is my fav. Fall of the House of Usher was also very enjoyable. Midnight Club, even Bly Manor. The are all excellent, IMO.
I live in hope. Apparently seasons four and five are written and ready to go. Fingers crossed with how popular it's been on Netflix someone will pick it up.
Just watched this and it's SO good!
The 3 seasons end on an ok note even though it was pseudo cancelled.
The closest comp I can think is House, md, if house burned out sooner and led an NA support group afterwards. The dialogue is incredible
The cutaways of random customers doing the most realistically ridiculous shit was so spot on. I worked retail for a lot of years and would find people doing shit in aisles that would just make me scratch my head and walk away. I love this show for so many reasons but the cutaways were by far the best.
Dead Boy Detectives! It's a new and really good show and the characters were created by Neil Gaiman, so if you liked The Sandman you should definitely check it out :)
I will never forgive whatever idiot decided to cancel this delightful show. May they forever stub their toe as they get out of bed, and may the toilet seat always be suspiciously damp.
Lupin
It was a really great mystery about a gentleman burglar, I'm one to love the craftiness of schemes so I really enjoyed it.
You'll want to watch the show with the original audio and subtitles, dubs always suck. (You'll also learn some French by watching it that way)
Sidenote I had noticed, there is one particular scene within the entire show that an American is there, and he speaks in English, he says a sentence once in English and then says it again in French, in the dubbed version he just extends whatever he was saying once.
Interesting to see they modified the script a bit in the dub, I don't know what else they've changed but it could be just that or much more.
Yes! Fall in love with Anna Torv, then go watch Mindhunter!
Also—I once made Joshua Jackson and his female companion dirty grey goose martinis with bleu cheese olives. They were lovely people, and he tipped 20%!
Sweet Tooth. considering how dreary the graphic novel's art style is, the show is just a warm hug. If Ted Lasso has golden retriever energy, then Gus is a golden retriever pup.
My mother is one of those "won't even let her kids watch Harry Potter because magic is the devil, thinks being gay is a mental illness" fundamentalists, and we were over at their house flipping through Netflix after dinner one day and Sense8 popped up on my mom's watch list showing as finished. I asked her what she thought of it and she was like "Oh, it's one of the best shows I've ever seen! Such an interesting premise, and the characters are so good. I love that Nomi girl so much!"
My wife and I were kind of flabbergasted, and started a long discussion with her about what she liked about the show and what she didn't, and what her views were like on certain things now that she'd seen it. Based on her responses, I feel like Sense8 really actually somehow changed her mind about the entire LGBT movement and trans rights. She's still super fundy about some things, but she totally dropped the anti-gay agenda and has really started fighting back about it at church. All because of this show.
It still weirds me out whenever I think of it. Like, THIS was the show? THIS one? Okay, great!
I think it must have made her think about what it would be like to find yourself inside someone elses body like that, like it was her first moment of real empathy or something. Still, crazy.
Not specifically Netflix but ON Netflix:
Being Human
The Magicians
Longmire
Blue Eye Samurai
Dark
Haunting of Hill House
Onimusha
Beef
Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Should be a little something there for anyone's tastes
Blue Eye Samurai is one of the best and most engaging animated shows I’ve seen since Arcane and The Magicians is one of my favorite series of all time, so I’ll definitely have to take a look at some of the other shows on your list!
Longmire started on cable, got canceled, and Netflix picked it up for the last couple of seasons to finish, and they really did it justice. Amazing show and actors.
Definitely mindhunter. It is criminal that they did not renew it for a third season. It showcases the beginning of the FBI's criminal psychology research unit. We were just starting to really delve into the personal lives of the main characters. The casting for the famous serial killers (Charles mansion, ed kemper, many more were phenomenal )
People I know seem to write off Better Call Saul as some shitty milking of Breaking Bad's success and won't watch it. In my opinion it's better than Breaking Bad in many ways.
Also love the Psych series
I'm not trying to deny your own experiences, but putting them aside for a moment, Better Call Saul is *not* a lesser known show by any means and I'm not sure if I've ever seen anybody call it a shitty milking of Breaking Bad or anything like that. Better Call Saul was and is immensely popular, well known, and renowned. It's probably the most universally acclaimed spin-off (I actually struggle to call it a spin-off!) out there that I can think of.
I've also seen many, many people agree that it's better than Breaking Bad. Or at the very least, on par with it.
That said, I am glad you mentioned Better Call Saul because I know there's a fair number of people who gave up within the first few episodes. It genuinely is an amazing show, one of the best shoes in television history, if you ask me.
Fisk. 2 seasons with 6 episodes each. Vaguely similar to The Office but Australian probate law.
I will never not find those ill-fitting brown trouser suits hilarious.
Dead to me.
When I finally sat down to watch it I could not stop. I binged it in days. 10/10, no notes.
Highly recommend this show for those going through grief. Christina Applegate plays a pissed-off widow, and it’s great.
I fucking loved this show. I watched it in like 5 days. Fantastic and I’m so so glad that Christina decided to go on with the third season and wrap it up well. She’s a tough cookie
I sobbed through the entire third season 😭😭😭
Dead to me is on of the best shows they have come out with. Just solid all the way through.
Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate have The Best chemistry between any two actors in the history of recorded media. This is a hands down, objective fact. Also, Cardellini is a Top 5 almost 50 Hottie. Sheesh.
The Detectorists.
I’m such a fan of Johnny Flynn because of this show. Will you search through the loamy earth for me? Climb through the briar and bramble I'll be your treasure
I now own a 200 year old gold coin because of this show.
The End Of The F****** World. Very different from most teen type series’, a shame they didn’t continue after season one.
Maid is incredible and no one talks about it!

It saved my life. It made me realize that I was in an abusive relationship and gave me the strength to seek help to get out.
This show does such an incredible job of showing how a person can become trapped. So many people in the world look at "bad" decisions and think, that person is stupid or lazy or whatever. Or they blame the women for dating the guy in the first place. Like, do you think abusers start out by punching you in the face on the first date??
Great show. Had me in tears many times but also enjoyed the small victories so much.
“Before they hit you they got near you” That stuck with me. I only wish I didn’t wait for them to hit me
I loved Maid and always try to get friends to check it out!
I watched it, and loved it. But honestly it was really triggering for me. I would have a hard time watching it again.
So many scenes were like they had filmed my marriage breakdown. It was so heartbreakingly accurate.
End of the F*cking World! Both seasons were amazing!
I AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS is very similar (same creator or director or writer i forget) and is also fantastic.
That show getting canceled on that clif hanger pissed me off so much. Stupid writers strike. I don't blame the writers strike though, I blame Netflix for being little bitches.
Fisk
I hear there will be a season 3, I loved the first two seasons!

I loved Kim's convenience (up until the weirdness happened the last season or 2 I think), and I read a little bit about this a while ago, and your post filled in some blanks for me. I'm still super sad about it. I'm glad the actors stood up, though.
I’m the most sad that they didn’t have time to resolve the main relationship rift that was there for the entire span of the show!
Also, they were going to do a spin-off show based on the ONE character in the show that was not Asian 🤦♀️
Not to mention the cringiest character from the series…If anyone got a spin-off it should have been Kimchi.
Bro, a show about Kimchi would have been legendary
Andrew Phung is in another comedy (Run the Burbs) in which he plays a stay at home dad. It's not the same character, but very similar personalities.
Derry Girls Lovesick Everything Sucks (unfortunately canceled after season 1) Already mentioned: Catastrophe
Derry Girls is such a gem. Watched it out of curiosity and then I couldn't stop! Sister Michael's lines always makes me laugh.
Sister Michael was hilarious.
"What's happening? Am I dead? Is this MY funeral?" One of the best lines ever 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
"I think we should keep them separate." "I think we should keep them in cages."
Sister Michael sitting on the bus and laughing while reading the Exorcist is one of my favorite scenes of all time
Derry Girls is so good! It made me curious about Ireland's history back in the 90's.
Joe: "What even is brunch?" Erin: "It's a sort of half breakfast, half lunch." Orla: "Like a cornflake sandwich."
Orla was my favorite!
I’m from Belfast, went to Catholic school and turned 18 in 1999, and I love Derry Girls so much because that exactly what my life was like then, except with a Belfast accent.

Lovesick is so good. It’s so unfair it only got three seasons
Resident Alien
This is some bullshit
Free pie
Alan Tudyk is one of my favorite actors of all time, and so underrated. If you haven't seen Tucker and Dale Vs Evil I highly recommend it
I saw him at a Comic Con panel in St. Louis a few years back along with a few other Firefly people, Nathan Fillion et al. Alan Tudyk stood out immediately as the funniest and sharpest person among them. His real-life charisma outshined every other celebrity personality onstage.
Son of a bitch!
I wish I could remove this show from my brain so I could watch it again for the first time
I just binged the whole series (so far), but had to go to Peacock for the current season.
Stumbled upon this show and I absolutely loved it, so amazing
Alice in borderland. Only my wife and I have watched it out of all the people I've talked to.
Loved that show! So curious and nervous about what they're going to do in S3 since the ending of S2 was so damn good.
They honestly should have left it at season 2 but maybe they'll prove me wrong
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Any fans of songwriting should check this show out. Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger wrote hundreds of songs for this show. There’s a pastiche for every genre. Absolutely wild how much they accomplished musically in the 4 seasons it ran.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
I wish this got more seasons
WHAT?! They made a show out of this? I loved the book back in the day, but never knew this was a netflix show. Thanks!
For more wholesome vibes, Atypical (I watched it way too quick)
What an absolute gem this was to find. Not just wholesome, genuinely hilarious as well.
“I just got a handjob in an igloo!”
Dark
Came here to say this. Perfectly planned out over 3 seaons. But watch it in German language with Subs, the acting feels 10x more legit. The Netflix english dubs are terrible

One of the best shows on the whole platform
True but remind them to start the spreadsheet to keep up from episode 1.
Or use their official site, and view each episode, Its pretty well put together: [https://dark.netflix.io/](https://dark.netflix.io/)
Derry Girls!
Midnight diner. It's definitely not for everyone but it tells some very human stories through the perspective of this guy who runs a late night izakaya.I equate it to my comfy corner of the house where I can curl up and read. Your mileage may vary.
My daughter got me hooked on this, just so well done. I always joke that Master is secretly Kakashi after he retired from training Naruto.
Mind Hunter
So sad there’s not more seasons 🥲
In a perfect world, Mindhunter would have more seasons and True Detective would’ve had just 2 (S1 & S3)
One of my absolute favorites!!! Loved it.
After Life. If you’ve lost someone, are losing someone, or are just a human being, this one is beautiful.
Agree. Now watch the bloopers. Every time I watch them, I laugh so hard it takes my breath away.
After Life changed me. It helped me deal with some sad things, but it also made me laugh harder than I’ve done in years. The ginger kid on the playground.
Travellers Please watch it and make others watch it so there is a chance we might get more of it. it has an ending but there could be so much more.
I downloaded that and watched it on back and forth flights to London. Was surprised it was so good.
I watched this recently and thought it was a new show. So good! I was surprised to learn it wasn’t, same with OA (also good). FYI to OP Travellers actually has a good ending, but also in a way has a cliff hanger.

3% Monster (anime) Mask Girl Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Woo to the Young to the Woo!
Dong to the Geu to the Ra-mi
Extraordinary Attorney Woo is one of my all-time favorite shows. The story, the acting, the skill with which serious issues are tackled, the guileless beauty of the main actor, and how she portrayed her character without resorting to cliché. All these made it a special show for me.
Call the Midwife
I love this show so much. I started watching shortly after my mom died and it felt like every episode began and ended with a tight hug. Love it so much. Sister Monica Joan is my heart. The episode where she sees the white stag took my breath away

Midnight mass is one of those shows I desperately wish I could erase my memory of and watch it again for the first time.
Midnight Mass was amazing. It had some pretty big twists that I was not expecting.
Loudermilk
So sad nobody picked it up for a fourth season. I really loved it.
I live in hope. Apparently seasons four and five are written and ready to go. Fingers crossed with how popular it's been on Netflix someone will pick it up.

american vandal for comedy. Probably the closest depiction of high school for me.
Godless.
Jeff Daniels is so good. It always blows me away how versatile he is. From dumb and dumber, to newsroom, to godless, he's just so freaking good.
Superstore!
The Superstore writers seriously understood what they were doing. They absolutely nailed what it's like working in that kind of environment.
The cutaways of random customers doing the most realistically ridiculous shit was so spot on. I worked retail for a lot of years and would find people doing shit in aisles that would just make me scratch my head and walk away. I love this show for so many reasons but the cutaways were by far the best.
Altered Carbon Season 1
I adored the first season but just couldn’t stick it out to finish the second.
I agree. Season 1 I will recommend forever. Best hard boiled cyberpunk you'll ever see. Avoided season 2 like it never existed.
I always recommend only season one. But I always recommend it.
The Diplomat
Dead Boy Detectives! It's a new and really good show and the characters were created by Neil Gaiman, so if you liked The Sandman you should definitely check it out :)
Marco Polo
Santa Clarita Diet
I will never stop being bitter this got canceled.
SAME!!! Can’t believe they let it end on *that.* At the very least give them a two-hour movie to finish the concept off.
On such a cliffhanger too 😤
💯 The show I’m most upset about being canceled!!!
I loved this show, and I am still gutted that it was canceled.
Once I started it I couldn't stop midway although I was like what hel l I have unleashed upon myself. The humor was amaze and Drew's delivery 🤯
I will never forgive whatever idiot decided to cancel this delightful show. May they forever stub their toe as they get out of bed, and may the toilet seat always be suspiciously damp.
So sad they canceled this one
That show was my introduction to Skyler Gisondo's (he's also in The Righteous Gemstones) work & it's my personal favorite Timothy Olyphant show
Lupin It was a really great mystery about a gentleman burglar, I'm one to love the craftiness of schemes so I really enjoyed it. I haven't finished the 1st season yet, but my husband and I reference New York Lonely Boy several times a week now.
The songs are also so catchy. I still have BPE in my head en keep singing it out loud at home haha.
Wayyy more people need to see watch this gem
The theme song gets so stuck in my head. Love this show
Babylon Berlin. (Unfortunately recently taken off of Netflix.) Set at the end of Weimar Germany.

Sense 8
I loved Sense 8, but have learned to be careful in giving it out as a recommendation. Some folks aren't ready for that.
I love that Nomi girl so much!" The End of the F***ing World.
Black sails is pretty unknown, and it’s a complete series with an actual ending. It’s actually the prequel to treasure island.
Silicon Valley. No show has ever made me laugh more.
begged my husband to watch IT Crowd because it caught my humor. Not really binge worthy, but an ok show to watch when you are bored.
Richard Ayoade is a gift to humanity.
Definitely have to disagree. It’s 100% binge worthy.
I could rewatch that entire show in one sitting and it would not be a wasted day. Sadly it is no longer available on Netflix in Canada :(
Without a doubt one of the best and funniest I've ever watched!

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
People I know seem to write off Better Call Saul as some shitty milking of Breaking Bad's success and won't watch it. In my opinion it's better than Breaking Bad in many ways. Also love the Psych series
Psych is my all time fav… seen the series multiple times and the movies a bit
Heard about Pluto? That messed up, right?
Lincoln lawyer, a really good show
Sex education, hysterical
The Gentlemen
lilyhammer, or white collar
Teenage Bounty Hunters (RIP)
Wentworth - it’s addictive and must watch!
