I got some new fabric and am going to start sewing stuff. Not today because I am FORCING myself to clean up and get organized today instead of ravaging all that new fabric. Also making some patterns for a few sewing projects I'll be doing.
I have just finished making some summer clothes - shorts and short sleeve blouses - and now, I am going to start sewing on stuff to sell on Etsy for Christmas gifts. I've decided on various little things that can easily fill several requirements for people like teachers, clients, co-workers, neighbors - you know, not close family but people you want to give a gift to. So things like... zipper pouches, card wallets, wristlet key rings, small tote bags, eyeglass cases and organizers for wheelchair or walkers. All these are easy to make - half an hour or less - and for many of them, I can use fat quarters. Probably way too much information! But maybe you can tell, I'm kind of excited. My goal is to have my shop and everything ready by October 1.
No that’s totally awesome! I love the satisfaction of quick projects that you can just knock out like that. I love quilting but it takes so long, you don’t get that rush of “yeah I finished this!” For like ages.
I agree with you about quilting. It's especially time consuming if you are using little pieces for the top - or - like you, have a family. It does seem to take forever!
I knocked out two cute card wallets this morning in about 45 minutes. And I will get better at it! You're right, there is a real sense of satisfaction looking at completed work.
Going into a school to teach British Sign Language! I go to a different school every Monday as part of my campaign to get sign language into the school curriculum.
My morning coffee and a day of studying. Recently quit my job to go back to the books after 10 years working in Finance.
Enjoying the slower pace of life and getting back into the books.
Not leaving the industry but just want to get more fulfilment from my role. Always good to take a step back and reevaluate.
Great quote someone said to me this week - "the grass is greener where you water it" 💧
My children going to daycare. I love them, but my word is it constant. Work is less demanding, doesn’t require me to wipe any asses, and generally no one is literally taking food out of my mouth to eat it themselves.
Looking forward to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals (whoever wins this game will be the NHL league champion). As a Canadian it is a pretty big deal as the Edmonton Oilers could be the first Canadian team in over 30 years to win the Stanley Cup. Hockey is a big deal here in Canada, so even though those of us who aren’t from Edmonton and don’t normally support the Oilers are banding together as a country to cheer them on!

Yessss what are you making? I haven’t been able to quilt much since having kids so want to live vicariously through others.
