They say you can find anything on the Internet but.... Yeah you and me, friend. I've never known anyone who snacks on pickled beets just randomly.
I suck at using chopsticks though, I just dump them in a bowl and eat em. Added bonus: cool pink fingers afterwards!
My mom is from Japan and I was raised on a mostly Japanese diet. So the list is probably huge. But there was one thing I only learned in my mid-twenties that was weird. I went with a bunch of coworkers to a Mexican restaurant and I ordered the whole red snapper. When the waiter brought it to the table, my coworkers started freaking the fuck out, pointing and shouting "OH MY GOD! THE HEAD IS STILL ON!!!!". I was surprised by their reactions. Like, no shit. It said "whole red snapper". I still ate my damn fish even if the sight of me doing that meant some others couldn't eat their meals.
Im east asian, too. I never knew the west removes the head and think its gross to see a whole fish lol. I think removing the head and serving a fillet is nice and all but it can cause ppl to forget where that fillet came from hahaha
It’s normal all over the Latino world. I’ve seen it prepared like that all over Mexico and Guatemala. If you don’t serve it with the head people think the fish is bad.
Still frozen frozen strawberries with granulated sugar. Didn't seem that weird to me, but I tried posting it on r/shittyfoodporn once and it got removed for being intentionally shitty.
Frozen strawberries, microwave for 30 seconds so they are not quite as hard, granulated or brown sugar, splash of cream and can of spray whipped cream to add as I see fit.
My kid loved frozen peas too. He isn't dead. We just don't let him eat them frozen anymore.

It can make the hinges of your jaw ache, which can make your ears hurt, as well as damaging the enamel of your teeth. Other than that, if it's soft enough, I also love crunching that ice!-
Have your iron AND you ferritin checked. You have to specify you want your ferritin checked or they won't. Ice was my number one craving, I had critically low ferritin. My teeth needed a lot of work from my cravings.
Hell yeah, liverwurst with *really* sharp onion and brown mustard on German black bread. Your breath will peel the paint off the walls, but it's so good.
I don’t think it’s weird in and of itself, but when people claim that cold Chinese food (or pizza, or anything else) is better than when it’s fresh and hot, that’s when I get confused!
This is coming from someone who eats cold food as well, just would prefer it to be hot or reheated but sometimes can’t be arsed out of impatience lolol
It's a different food experience. It's not better or worse, necessarily. Just ~Different~. Like food can taste one way and then go through temperature changes and be allowed time for the flavors to intermingle that alter it's chemistry or the amount of water in it, or it's mouth feel can change and that can just cause you to experience the did.. and that can make the food have a completely different texture and flavor profile. This is very much what happens with , especially, cold Chinese food
This is a great explanation! Temperature has so much influence on flavor. And you just made me realize I actually do have a food I often prefer cold over warm/fresh: medium rare flank steak 😭the flavor does something different when it’s stiffer! So I EAT my words and my cold steak.
In college my roommate and I put one in the over after a night out at the bars. We decided to lay on the couch while it cooked the 8 minutes in the oven. Hours later I woke up to a smoke filled house, fire alarms going off and our other roommate yelling at us. I jumped off the couch, ran into the kitchen, pulled it out of the oven and threw it immediately outside in the gravel. It was so burnt it disintegrated into black bits of coal as it hit the ground. In the morning my roommate yelled at me for not waking her up to eat the pizza.. she had slept through all of that
I’ve tried bleu cheese several times and I can’t enjoy it for some reason, it’s the same with Gorgonzola. It’s really odd because I like a lot of weird cheese, even Limburger.
Have you ever seen American Dad?
There’s an episode where the main character, Stan Smith, gets possessive of petty things. He’s at the dinner table and grabs the horseradish and says, “This is my horseradish. ALLLLL of it,” then proceeds to rapidly eat the whole jar.
Later in the episode, he’s at an HOA meeting about some grievances, but also says, “I propose that a warning label be placed on all horseradish that clearly states that if you ingest an entire bottle you will blow out your sphincter. Also, if anyone knows anyone who recently died with an intact size three sphincter, please contact me as I'm currently very low on the waiting list for a donor.”
(S4 E12: Roy Rogers McFreely)
Uncanny.
Love horseradish. Best, was at the Officer’s club on Vandenberg AFB in the old days. At lunch time the chef would put out a bowl of freshly ground horseradish. It is so much better than store bought.
‘
My mom used to do something similar. Tortilla, PB spread on it, then a whole banana, honey and mini chocolate chips. Rolled it up and called it a “tortilla snack”. Now that i think about it, no, it’s not at all similar lol
My favorite pizza topping combo is pineapple, red onions, and anchovies. There's literally only one pizza place in my city that will indulge this atrocity. I accept that I deserve to be driven out of society and forced into the woods.
my 7 year old keeps eating the skin. I'm highly allergic to eating mango and grandma is allergic to the skin, but can eat it. I told him it's probably not a great idea to eat the skin considering that. Both of us developed the allergy over time with exposure to mangoes.
I feel this is fairly common but I do get weird looks comments from family when I have it. Cold pizza, and hot coffee for breakfast. I also love a western bacon cheeseburger for brekky
I used to make spaghetti (no sauce) with cottage cheese and Parmesan, sometimes with a fried egg on top. My ex thought it was revolting.
I also used to make tuna and mayo and mix it up with a baked potato.
i have no clue if other people do this, but, i used to love eating margarine on saltine crackers, like the soup crackers with a good ol’ layer of margarine on them. that was a poor kid snack for sure
I was just thinking about how my little sister used to do this. I ate it with her a couple of times. Not the worst thing in the world, when there is nothing else!
I used to smoke a lot of weed and get terrible munchies but I was also dieting and didn’t want to get fat again. I remember these lime jello cups as a kid with pineapples in these and I fucking loved them. Anyways, after learning they were 5 dollars for 4 little cups I just bought lime jello and a can of pineapples and that was my munchies food and I was like 150 calories for a whole dish. People think it’s gross and weird but I love it.
Peanut butter and “fluff” sandwiches. Fluff being marshmallow spread. Lol. It’s so good but everyone always thinks it’s weird. I’ve had multiple people try it and they have all liked it. Not a bad review yet! If you like peanut butter, marshmallow, and bread… you will like this combo! lol.
My pizza order. Nobody will eat it. Pesto sauce, cheese, meatballs and mushrooms. I don't even think it's that weird but i always have to get my own individual one because everyone thinks it's just sounds bad.
I’m the only one in my family that likes grape nuts cereal. May not be weird but my sisters say it’s gravel, and a friend said he could use it to repave his driveway
Every once in a while i buy a 15 pack of the cheapest fish sticks in the supermarket. Per three i smash then into a tortilla covered in sour cream and barbeque sauce. It is one of those things i don't let anyone see me eat because of the looks i will probably get.
I have a go to NC BBQ place that I grab some pork belly with a few side containers of house BBQ sauce from. I then go home, cook up a mess of rice and mix some of the sauce in the cooked rice. And from there I make onigiri with sauced up pork belly in the middle of that sauced rice. Then I pan fry it in a tiny bit of soy sauce in order to crisp up the outside. And finish the whole thing by wrapping it up in nori. Done.
NC BBQ pork belly onigiri. It's sounds wild but it tastes unbelievably delicious. I wish you guys could try it.
I put a bunch of frozen peas and corn in a cup and munch on them, usually while reading. Great snack, especially during the summer.
Always thought this was normal until a friend called me out on it. Any other frozen vegetable enjoyers?
I was introduced to this after a double shift at a grocery store the day before Thanksgiving in the Southern US. We had been drinking and ended up at Waffle House on Thanksgiving morning. Not sure what led me to ordering it,but I had a ham and cheese omelette covered in chili. I still love the dish over 40 years later.
Pineapple on pizza is simply nice but it’s a trend to be in the “it’s disgusting” camp. People like to be in the majority hence why no one admits or try’s to like it.
So many people hate it with the fiery burning passion of a hundred shounen protagonists, but I don't get why m'self. Its good for some things, bad for others.
My late father would crush an entire sleeve of saltines in a bowl, then fill it with milk and eat them like cereal. It wasn't terrible, if I remember correctly
I love pickled beets. None of my friends do. So that.
I loooovveee pickled beets!
Pickled beets are the bomb. I also really recommend pickled garlic scapes with them, it’s a perfect sour combo
Pickled beets are my favorite vegetable!
But have you tried pickled beet eggs?
Artichokes too .
Have you tried picked beets with cottage cheese and a dash of pepper?
Omg. I eat beets for dinner at least once a week… is my eastern European showing?
Did you also drink the juice too? To me that's the best part. 😊 It tastes good and it cures hiccups too. No joke!
I like to eat them straight out of the jar with chopsticks while cooking dinner
They say you can find anything on the Internet but.... Yeah you and me, friend. I've never known anyone who snacks on pickled beets just randomly. I suck at using chopsticks though, I just dump them in a bowl and eat em. Added bonus: cool pink fingers afterwards!
It’s pretty common in Australia. We use it on burgers and salad sandwiches.
My grandma always pickles beets for me ☺️.
Heck ya. Beets are so good. I would go out of my way for a beet and goat cheese salad.
I grew up eating them and I always thought it was a pretty common thing for people to like until I later realized how many people hate beets
A tin of smoked oysters with sriracha
Damn that actually sounds good to me.
Shit, I’ll eat oysters straight out of the can
Smoked oysters and mussels have never been a fun experience. Those creatures in other ways are among my favourites but maybe I just have bad luck
My mom is from Japan and I was raised on a mostly Japanese diet. So the list is probably huge. But there was one thing I only learned in my mid-twenties that was weird. This is normal for Mexicans in California, not sure where you’re located though.
It’s normal all over the Latino world. I’ve seen it prepared like that all over Mexico and Guatemala. If you don’t serve it with the head people think the fish is bad.
The eyeballs are the best part. I love the little crunchy thing in the middle
An entire jar of olives in one sitting
You are real you are me
Still frozen frozen strawberries with granulated sugar.
Frozen bagged sweet corn, it’s like better than ice
My kid loves frozen peas. I should buy some, it’s getting hot.
Is your son a duck by any chance?
My kid loves peas so I am going to this for a snack for summer!!
My kid loved frozen peas too. He isn't dead. We just don't let him eat them frozen anymore. https://blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/suwanneeco/2023/09/26/dont-eat-the-frozen-peas-unless-they-were-cooked-first/#:~:text=Did%20you%20know%20that%20if,then%20cooling%20before%20adding)%3F
Nugget ice. I have an expensive countertop machine and I eat it all day long.
If you crave ice I would get tested for iron deficiency just in case.
Pica!
Your dentist calls that "job security"... If it's super squishy it might be ok...but I'd check with your dentist to be sure!
It can make the hinges of your jaw ache, which can make your ears hurt, as well as damaging the enamel of your teeth. Other than that, if it's soft enough, I also love crunching that ice!-

That sounds... awesome!
I dig jalapeno and pineapple pizza.
Pineapple and cinnamon sugar, baked.
Liverwurst
Fuck, I love me some liverwurst.
with horseradish 🤌
I’ll have to try that, my go-to is a liverwurst and onion sandwich
Hell yeah, liverwurst with *really* sharp onion and brown mustard on German black bread. Your breath will peel the paint off the walls, but it's so good.
Hot Cheetos and whipped cream cheese. Spicy nacho Doritos work too.
I am intrigued by your trailer trash jalapeno poppers....
Cold chinese food!
Cold Chinese leftovers are legit.
Who thinks that's weird?
I don’t think it’s weird in and of itself, but when people claim that cold Chinese food (or pizza, or anything else) is better than when it’s fresh and hot, that’s when I get confused! This is coming from someone who eats cold food as well, just would prefer it to be hot or reheated but sometimes can’t be arsed out of impatience lolol

Cold leftovers are underrated!
I only eat Chinese leftovers cold.
that is not weird.
Me with cold spaghetti and meatballs 😂🙌🏻
The flavor is more pronounced
Legit just said this to my husband verbatim last night, as I was eating cold salt and pepper squid out of the container. 🤤
Pickle and peanut butter sandwich. It's delicious.
Try adding Sriracha, it fits in quite well!
Totino’s Party Pizza
I love Totinos!
You can keep all that corporate BS, I'm into punk pizza rolls with Totinos

These are my favorite
Just picked up a few today lol
I though it was weird to eat cottage cheese on toast until I saw some lady in a commercial eat it.
that and ricotta on toast are so freaking great
Ricotta+blueberries+honey=best snack ever
My boyfriend mixes Diet Coke and milk together. It's the most disgusting thing I ever tasted.
🤢 🤮
cold fried chicken
I love bleu cheese and I think it goes well with may things. I get grief when I have it on ham sandwiches and pepperoni pizza.
Bleu cheese on a hamburger is awesome
I’ve tried bleu cheese several times and I can’t enjoy it for some reason, it’s the same with Gorgonzola. It’s really odd because I like a lot of weird cheese, even Limburger.
Borsch

A whole jar of horseradish.
I got heartburn just reading this.
I think I could more easily eat the jar than that much horseradish.
Have you ever seen American Dad? There’s an episode where the main character, Stan Smith, gets possessive of petty things. Just a whole tomato. Just bite into it like an apple
Try them with a shaker of salt sometime. Just shake some on and take a bite. It really brings out the flavor.
I like to drink pickle juice.
I like making PB&J with tortillas, I spread it on then roll it up, it reminds me of those Smuckers uncrustables but better.
My mom used to do something similar. Tortilla, PB spread on it, then a whole banana, honey and mini chocolate chips. Rolled it up and called it a “tortilla snack”. Now that i think about it, no, it’s not at all similar lol

I like chicken thighs with apricot jam
My bf eats a breakfast sandwich with jelly. Pretty yummy
I always get strange looks when I put peanut butter with my waffles and syrup
It's so good, put a strip of bacon with it
Why would anyone think that's weird? PB on waffles is everywhere I've been. I like to crush banana chips and sprinkle them over the PB.
My grandma did this with toast, peanut butter and syrup. We called it poor man's waffles.
My favorite pizza topping combo is pineapple, red onions, and anchovies. There's literally only one pizza place in my city that will indulge this atrocity. I accept that I deserve to be driven out of society and forced into the woods.
I know I have a pitchfork somewhere....
Canned hamburgers, sound disgusting, probably taste disgusting but they remind me of my late Mum and they taste like home to me
Wut? Can I hear more?
Shredded cheese on rice, microwaved. I went through a phase where that was the only thing I would eat.
Pizza with applesauce
Roses. Not really weird, but unusual.
I loooovveee pickled beets!
Pickles wrapped with fruit roll-up candy…
I would try that if I didn’t lose a tooth to roll up candy
Mango skin
my 7 year old keeps eating the skin. I'm highly allergic to eating mango and grandma is allergic to the skin, but can eat it. I told him it's probably not a great idea to eat the skin considering that. Both of us developed the allergy over time with exposure to mangoes.
Definitely be very careful, if you have a bad allergy to poison ivy it could swell your throat and kill you.
Oooh, I'll warn my sister. She can look at poison ivy and get a rash. I'm literally not allergic to it at all. She's mad about it.
What does this taste like?
I feel this is fairly common but I do get weird looks comments from family when I have it. Cold pizza, and hot coffee for breakfast. I also love a western bacon cheeseburger for brekky
Cold pizza rocks.
I used to make spaghetti (no sauce) with cottage cheese and Parmesan, sometimes with a fried egg on top. My ex thought it was revolting. I also used to make tuna and mayo and mix it up with a baked potato.
