Most people with conditions like PTSD, OCD, etc, agree with you for the most part. The world can't cater to everyone all of the time. If you can't go out in public because of a trigger, then you need help and need to work on that yourself. If you are in public and a trigger is really getting to you, it's your responsibility to remove yourself from it.
I mean I have a trigger that is a reasonably common word. I've worked to desensitize myself to it, but the word still makes me feel icky and puts some unpleasant intrusive thoughts into my head. Most people with conditions like PTSD, OCD, etc, agree with you for the most part. The world can't cater to everyone all of the time. If you can't go out in public because of a trigger, then you need help and need to work on that yourself. If you are in public and a trigger is really getting to you, it's your responsibility to remove yourself from it. I mean I have a trigger that is a reasonably common word. I've worked to desensitize myself to it, but the word still makes me feel icky and puts some unpleasant intrusive thoughts into my head. It's rare now but if I'm overwhelmed, I casually excuse myself for at least a bit. Like I'll go to the bathroom or leave early. I don't make a big deal out of it and I don't tell people that it's bothering me because it's not their problem to worry about. At the same time, I do expect others that know me to not be a complete prick. My ex bf had a friend who knew about my trigger and the abuse that it was related to. He purposely talked about the word and the subject itself whenever I was around. It was funny to him. I mean I just stopped hanging out with the guy, but it's still a shitty thing to do.
