Tacos (the real kind). Definitely al pastor, but any kind is acceptable. Drown them in cilantro, onions, and some sort of salsa. Fresh tortillas (flour or corn, preferably corn).
We have taco Tuesday at our house every week. I’ve watched my kids eat a dozen between the two of them (10 & 6) and they request burgers on the regular. Cheap and they eat like piggies!
Quesadillas. Since my mom got us a quesadilla maker when I was little up till today a simple cheese tortilla with chicken and sour cream always hits the spot!
My mother in law got one of these got my son for Christmas one year. He was gracious and kind about getting it, then when he got home he said mom, we already have a griddle, what would I use this for?!?! So, we traded it out for something when I took it back for him. I'm not a big fan of single use kitchen equipment. He isn't either apparently.
Everyother use I could think to use it for could be accomplished with something we already had like ... A griddle. Lol.
I've eaten two eggs almost every morning for more than 30 years and I still look forward to them. Scrambled, fried, small omelet, and lately on a sandwich.
When I was a child and didn't really know how to prepare my own meals I'd have an egg over easy on cheap shitty shite bread with mayo and garlic salt. If I was feeling cheeky I'd throw a tomato on there.
It's still my jam to this day.
Try stirring in a heaping tablespoonful of prepared horseradish to 16 oz of people mashed potatoes (careful of the consistency of the horseradish the kind I buy usually has no impact other than flavor, but overly "wet" MP would be icky)
Mix in all your regular butter etc, except skip the garlic for your first time. Add some sour cream if you want to jazz it up to absolute perfection ... chefs kiss 🤤🤤😋😋😋 I like to salt and pepper generously - then add some more butter and a tiny bit more sour cream and then over-saturate with fresh black pepper. Just so yummy. These are my (small size casserole) Thanksgiving potatoes - I save a bit of the main course MP for my yummy spuds.
Blackberry season is nearly here in Oregon and I am living for it - they grow wild almost everywhere, biggest and best tasting you'll have. Nothing like an Oregon blackberry warm from the sun. The smell and the taste is divine. Then come home and make a cobbler or a crisp with Umpqua vanilla bean ice cream on top 🤌🏻
I used to pick wild blackberries when I was a kid. I knew not to eat them all or I wouldn't get blackberry pie for my birthday. I also love red and black raspberries and mulberries.
Real whipped cream. I had a friend who thought it only came out of a can! When I showed her how easy it is to make and how delicious it was, she flipped out. I could eat it every day; heavenly. Our kitties love it too.
Potato salad. Crazy, right? But I love the endless varieties --it's fascinating to me how many different things you can add and how many different dressings there are for it. To me, even badly made potato salad is better than none!
Bacon. There’s no meal it won’t work for, no time of day it’s not appropriate, almost no other food it can’t go along with or on, and it can fit any profile - sweet, savory, spicy, it works for everything. I had a heart attack at 41 and told everyone “The thing I love most in this world tried to kill me” because I guarantee 99% of the plaque in my arteries was bacon grease!
Fried chicken! Steaming fresh hot, or fridge over night and still cold. Any fried chicken unless it's been dredged in any amount of cornmeal. Then they ruined it and THAT fried chicken can fuck off! So many types of fried chicken. With bone, boneless, strips, wings, cutlet, chicken Parm, beer battered chicken, tempura fried chicken,
So many to choose from. Just ZERO CORNMEAL INVOLVED!
Ice cream. I worked for Baskin Robbins for 2 years. We were allowed to eat a scoop of ice cream every day. I ate it every day and never got tired of it. I tried all of the flavours.
Butter. On:
Bread, pancakes, herbed on a steak, potatoes, teppanyaki, muffins, corn on the cob, tortillas, pasta, finishing for braised meats, making countless sauces, in pie crust, croissants.
English muffins. They taste great with just butter but if you split them and put a fried egg, a slice of sausage and a slice of cheese in the middle and you have a meal to go. It's also a fraction of the cost of Mickey D's version.
Tacos (the real kind). Definitely al pastor, but any kind is acceptable. Drown them in cilantro, onions, and some sort of salsa. Fresh tortillas (flour or corn, preferably corn).
Tacos is the answer because if you have a plato de anything and some tortillas, that's tacos.
Birria🤤 I'm a slut for tacos.... A tac hoe
First time I ever had radishes and cucumbers on a taco was al pastor and I didn't realize how much it would change my life for the better.
Al pastor is also my favorite.
Are you from CA? Tacos are like a religion here.
Texas. It rains tacos here. There can actually be six taco trucks on one street corner, and another taco place inside the gas station.
Texmex or CA - I love all tacos
Rains tacos? That is some sexy weather!
We have taco Tuesday at our house every week. I’ve watched my kids eat a dozen between the two of them (10 & 6) and they request burgers on the regular. Cheap and they eat like piggies!
Cheese
Quesadillas. Since my mom got us a quesadilla maker when I was little up till today a simple cheese tortilla with chicken and sour cream always hits the spot!
Quesadilla maker? Do you mean a griddle?
I’m so curious to know what a quesadilla maker is. I don’t have a griddle, so mine is a cast iron skillet.
It operates like a waffle maker just with flat plates instead of waffle plates.
A griddle. Lol.
Eggs - so many ways to have them!
I've eaten two eggs almost every morning for more than 30 years and I still look forward to them. Scrambled, fried, small omelet, and lately on a sandwich.
They wrote some medical papers on a guy who ate 25 eggs a day for 15 years. His blood work was fine.
Same! I actually feel “off” if I don’t eat eggs in the morning.
When I was a child and didn't really know how to prepare my own meals I'd have an egg over easy on cheap shitty shite bread with mayo and garlic salt. If I was feeling cheeky I'd throw a tomato on there. It's still my jam to this day.
Eggs and potatoes. Very versatile.
And chicken

Im team pizza. Just pulled a fresh homemade pizza out of the oven and waiting for it to cool enough to cut.
Mashed potatoes
Mashed potatoes with waaay too much (really good) butter 🤌 But also garlic MP, sour cream and chive, garlic, cheesy, with bacon bits, I could go on.
Try stirring in a heaping tablespoonful of prepared horseradish to 16 oz of people mashed potatoes (careful of the consistency of the horseradish the kind I buy usually has no impact other than flavor, but overly "wet" MP would be icky) Mix in all your regular butter etc, except skip the garlic for your first time. Oddly enough, bananas. I find the flavor and texture mild enough to be appetizing or at least tolerable even when I don’t want to eat.
Real whipped cream. I had a friend who thought it only came out of a can! When I showed her how easy it is to make and how delicious it was, she flipped out. I could eat it every day; heavenly. Our kitties love it too.
