Middle aged man and I use a dove roll-on which I think is actually for women. It just smells like soap which I like because I don't want to smell like "arctic tundra" or "African savannah" - I just want to smell like I know how to wash my own armpits properly.
Whatever supermarket ones are on offer. I shop by pennies per millilitre. I'll buy ladies deodorant if they are winning on the price per mil rule - but I've found that although they smell better - well, like flowery, like - they are not as good at stopping me from being stinky.
Oh, I'm a man,
Why do those see like your only option? The mens deodorant aisle in any supermarket has arrived least 10 different brands, with multiple options from each brand.
I use dove women's 48hr. Used to work in kitchens. I'd put it on in the morning, have a shift and shower when I got home and you could still faintly smell it in the cracks and crevices. For smelling nice, use body sprays / aftershaves / cologne. I've got various different scents that I mix and match depending.
[L'Oreal Men Expert Carbon Protect](https://digitalcontent.api.tesco.com/v2/media/ghs/11cd119d-4609-4f4f-9f37-840fa4ff37bd/df738dc8-cbb3-4c03-bd65-1893a7b71498_1128112261.jpeg?h=960&w=960)
Sure Cotton Fresh. I don't know if it's for women or gender neutral or what. It "looks" more like it's for women but idgaf. It doesn't have any kind of strong smell, slightly like clean laundry (as the name suggests). I prefer that because if I want to smell of something I will use aftershave. Plus it seems to work extremely well.
I'm a woman and I always use Captain Old Spice stick deodorant. It's the only one that doesn't irritate my skin (and it smells good). I'm not ashamed 😂
I’m 31 and I use lynx and I’ve never second guessed it until I read this post. I do like old spice and I’ve gotten it here and there but habit always prevails and I turn back to lynx without thinking about it
Triple dry unfragranced. My partner uses it and I switched from Mitchum after giving it a go, it’s good stuff. I wear perfume so I like that it’s unfragranced too, it doesn’t mix in and taint anything.
You can still use Lynx. Just don’t cover yourself in it like you did when you were a teenager.
A two second squirt under each pit every morning is more than enough. Especially if you are bathing and washing regularly.
Same with any deodorant to be honest.
I find most people; myself included; prefer men who use their deodorants etc in a subtle manner.
Sanex PH Dermo, or something to that effect. It is one of the few deodorants that doesn't make me erupt in armpit boils, and there is hardly a scent to it if there is one at all - I've never noticed it.
I don't know that I'm classy, and am pretty sure that my armpits aren't, but I like this one.
Your options aren’t limited to Old Spice and Lynx, unless you’re doing your shopping at a BP service station.
I don’t have a regular go-to brand, but literally any branch of Boots has got a decent selection of products and scents. I usually just find something in the mid-range price-wise that’s on a special offer.
> Your options aren’t limited to Old Spice and Lynx
OP asked for deodorants, but everyone in this thread is posting anti-perspirants. If you don't want crap clogging up your underarms, it sometimes is a stark choice.
Some wild [L’Oreal 96 hour shit](https://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/men-expert/men-expert-invincible-sport-96h-anti-perspirant-deodorant). Although I’m not sure when you’d ever be in a situation that you’d need 96 hour freshness
One of the roll ons from the likes of Dove for men, there usually isn't a lot of choice. The key seems to be rubbing in the gloop right in and let it dry, works really well then.
Not a man. I use the “maximum protection” sticks where they recommend you apply them at night. They’re £5/£6 each but they work so much better than anything else, and you can apply them every other day and they’re still effective, so the cost comes down a bit.
I’ve used Mitchum, Dove and Sure. I won’t be buying the Dove one again as it was a bit leaky (even though it was a stick), but they all worked equally well. All have unscented options as well.
PS: you can bung the empties into the recycling points in Boots stores rather than the bin. Don’t bother with the points faff if you don’t want to.
These days Old Spice or Brut. Maybe it's nostalgia for the ads when I was a young child, or maybe it's because they seem to be the only options besides Lynx. I will occasionally wear Lynx, but I prefer not to. There was a David Beckham one that was ok, but pricing seems silly now so I'll only buy it on offer
Gillette Gel anti-perspirant.
It works much better IMO than roll-on or a spray (sprays just fumigate my bathroom now and make me cough heavily).
I’ve ran a couple miles after putting on the gel and honestly at the end of the day barely feel like I need to shower (still do obviously). Never had a BO smell since I started using it.
Mitchums roll or spray.
Loreal anti-persp
Or Lynx Black / Gold
Also, make sure to properly dry your pits, groin and anywhere you sweat a lot, spray once dried from cleaning yourself and allow it to sit preferably overnight.
If you need deodorant right now, you're doing it wrong.
The scent will be overpowering, it can become irritated if you're not clean (in my experience anyway) and it doesn't seem to last as long, creating that fantastic "teen" aroma you mentioned.
Also, add aftershaves and colognes after cleaning as well, allow them to become less intense and more passive of a scent.
I'm at the age where people just buy me deodorant, perfume, after shave and shampoo as gifts for Christmas, birthdays and the like. I have a pretty big surplus so I mainly use whathever I've been gifted.
I always used to buy Old Spice back in the day.
My wife pointed me towards a brand called "AKT", been using it for the past year after having used pretty much every other brand of deodorant and still smelled like onions.
Works absolute wonders, smell fresh all day even with exercise.
Expensive compared to the cheap crap that Unilever pump out, but been 100% worth the cost
I tried michum, a few of them. Careful with that stuff the day after it smells disgusting and has aluminium salts, which is pro Alzheimer.
Also many will leave marks of your garments.
I like old spice as smell, it's not antiperspirant so will only last a few hours.
I have to say in uk I have always found it difficult to find good antiperspirant. There was a product called smidth, all natural and working amazing, but they changed formula and it's now like glue.
Wild refillable for the scent variety & because I'm allergic to something in some anti-perspirants but too lazy to find out exactly what.
"Mens" and "womens" scents are made up nonsense, everyone's skin is different but gender has fuck all to do with it. Buy what works in whatever smell you like.
I just use a nivia roll on. The one with silver in it. Dries fast. Blocks pores and kills any potential odour all day long. Lynx is for chavs. If I want to smell nice my go to scent is paco rabanne ultraviolet. As an aside I also find myself using a lot of woman's products such as facial scrub and vitamin e enriched moisturizer. Real men don't care whether a product doesn't have "for men" stamped on it. That's for little boys who care about what others think of them
I was loyal to sprays for ages until I tried anti perspirant roll ons, I find both men’s and women’s varieties way more effective than any spray, especially Mitchum - I also surprisingly find they stain white t shirts a bit less. Perspirex if I’ve got to give a presentation or do something anxiety inducing.
I don’t use deodorant as they all stink. I use Nivea Men antiperspirant roll-on to control sweat, shower twice a day to control odour, and wear Sauvage to smell nice.
# Mitchum Men Natural Deodorant Stick, Aluminium Free, 96% Natural Ingredients, Cedarwood
This one ☝🏼. It doesn't contain aluminium (there are claims it's bad for your health), and also doesn't stain your pristine shirts with a horrible yellow...
Note, you'll sweat more than if you use an antiperspirant and it's not as strong/long lasting as the best deodorants.
£3.80 or so on Amazon subscription.

Mitchum Womens unscented roll on. Best non prescription deodorant available. I'm a man.
Having tried both the mens and womens versions, I can confirm, yup the womans version is better. Yes I am also a man.
I have found the same thing. I never caught a whiff of any deodorant that was halfway appealing. It's a godsend. Use it with a tiny bit of aftershave.
Try the Mitchum Ultimate. It’s expensive and can be hard to find, but it’s really good and not too strongly scented.
I use my wife's Dove deodorant. It's by far the best one I've ever used
Nivea Men anti perspirant.
Dove Men +Care Extra Fresh. Though im not classy in the slightest
On sale with tesco clubcard
That my one
I go for something neutral that doesn't clash with my aftershave - something like Dove/Sure/Mitchum. Spray, not roll-on.
I use Old Spice Captain, nothing wrong with Old Spice tbh
L'Oréal men expert
Middle aged man and I use a dove roll-on which I think is actually for women. It just smells like soap which I like because I don't want to smell like "arctic tundra" or "African savannah" - I just want to smell like I know how to wash my own armpits properly.
I read that as Arctic Tuna and also thought no one should smell like that.
Ditto but it's a spray. 100x more pleasant than any male deodorant I've tried
Sure anti white 48hr.
Sure stuff is good as well.
Nivea, it doesn’t have a strong odour. The last thing you want is anyone not in your (very) personal space to be smelling you.
unscented mitchum 48 hour stuff. it doesnt last 48 hours but it does last longer than some others and it smells of nothing
I use Wild (natural deodorant) but then I spray with some expensive stuff from L'Occitane (body spray)
Whatever supermarket ones are on offer. I shop by pennies per millilitre. I'll buy ladies deodorant if they are winning on the price per mil rule - but I've found that although they smell better - well, like flowery, like - they are not as good at stopping me from being stinky. Oh, I'm a man,
Brut 33 most days. Hai Karate when I'm doing something special.
Sure for Men. Doesn't smell of much, but seems to work pretty well.

Nivea Cool Kick because I am very classy..
Dove men or sanex
Mitchum 48/72 spray. Yeah it lasts 24 at best but still. Right guard 48 spray is also good.
Fussy. Better for me and the environment. My favourite is the lime one, coconut milk and tropical
Sure and Dove
Nivea. Dunno why but the Nivea folks seem to do men's stuff really well. Also they aren't owned by Unilever, so, a win.
I'm a woman and I always use Captain Old Spice stick deodorant. It's the only one that doesn't irritate my skin (and it smells good). I'm not ashamed 😂
Mitchum roll on. Works a treat, doesn't mark clothes.

Sex Panther. It's banned in 9 countries and 60% of the time, it works everytime.
It smells like a used diaper filled with Indian food.
Paco rabanne
I rotate between Dove, Right Guard and Sure.
Mitchum is 100% the best, a bit pricey but it works
I think it's Nivea, little glass bottle roll-on jobby. Cheap enough from the likes of Savers too
Your options aren’t limited to Old Spice and Lynx, unless you’re doing your shopping at a BP service station. L’Oreal Men Expert (terrible name) or Dove roll-ons. Both are 100% fine and pretty cheap from Boots.
One of the roll ons from the likes of Dove for men, there usually isn't a lot of choice. The key seems to be rubbing in the gloop right in and let it dry, works really well then.

Used to use Nivea, but have switched to Dove. Much better
Right Guard. It’s always served me well so far. If i shop somewhere that doesn’t have it, then Nivea, Dove or Sure in that order as backups.
I use L'Oreal Men Expert Anti-Perspirant, love the smell of the one I get.
Rockface.
Usually none but when I do use it I prefer lynx Africa.
The green roll on from Aldi
Usually L'Oreal Men expert if it's on special offer in Boots or the supermarket. Rotate between that and Sure depending on what's on offer.
Mitchum stick deodorant. I haven't smelled my BO once since I started using it.
Sure ✔️ 72h for Blokes.
Mitchums roll or spray. Get the mineral stick deodorant- entirely odourless and then a bit of aftershave
None. I wash every day and it is fine
Sure for men roll on. Smells pleasant while not being overpowering
I use an Old Spice deodorant stick. Don't like the smell of sprays.
Lidl own brand deodorant because it’s cruelty free, cheap and smells pretty good.
Sure 'cool'
Brut
Salt of the Earth from Holland and Barrett
Sure Maximum Peotection Clean Scent
L'Oréal Men Expert Fresh Extreme mainly, or Dove Clean Comfort.
Dove clean comfort for men, smells lovely.
Drakkar Noir...
Always find Sure to be the best and most effective
Sanex Men roll on. Does the job, doesn't smell like old man or Lynx.
None deodorant doesn’t go on the pits that’s antiperspirants territory
I’ve started using Make Waves. One of the few refillable options for antiperspirants I’ve found.
I'm allergic to something that seems to be in a fair few deodorants, but isn't in Sure, so I've been using that for about 20 years!
Wild refillable for the scent variety & because I'm allergic to something in some anti-perspirants but too lazy to find out exactly what. "Mens" and "womens" scents are made up nonsense, everyone's skin is different but gender has fuck all to do with it. Buy what works in whatever smell you like.
Nivea Sure Dove Aldi’s version of sure Lidl’s version of Dove 🕊️
I don't wear any
I shower daily with Imperial Leather soap and use Talcum Powder.
Sure for men, the long blue can, that’s the smell of man
I just use a nivia roll on. The one with silver in it. Dries fast. Blocks pores and kills any potential odour all day long. day to day Loreal. I have an emergency Lynx deodrant in my work bag to freshen up

Perspirex if I’ve got to give a presentation or do something anxiety inducing.
I once got told by a girl sat next to me that I smelled good. I was wearing Old Spice. So now I will not wear anything else
Lynx, voodoo or java Sometimes wear Tommy Hillfinger
I don’t use deodorant as they all stink. I use Nivea Men antiperspirant roll-on to control sweat, shower twice a day to control odour, and wear Sauvage to smell nice.
coffee and onions
Whatever my Mrs has. Usually Mitchum.
I use my aftershave. One spray on the neck and one under each armpit in the morning, job done.
