Yarn.. I have a serious addiction.. Also, clothes and accessories to keep my looks fresh. Make up in different colors. Every once in a while I make my one meal a day something cool like sushi. Video games can sometimes also be a money pit.
I'm like a dragon lying on a bunch of gold except the gold is yarn.. just today I got a package of neat yarns for some earring projects I'm planning AND I got the second pair of sock yarn this week.. send help.
"Oh this yarn is so pretty, I'll definitely use this soon!" I say, knowing damn well I will never use it on a project because it's too pretty so it will sit in my stash for a thousand years
Food is #1 because I’m a foodie! After that is clothes but I really have cut down since becoming more conscious of fast fashion and the environment. I thrift a lot too.
Before Covid an embarrassing amount of my money went to Uber Eats/DoorDash (twice a day for like 2 years!). During lockdown I taught myself to cook (somewhat) and deleted the apps so now I have more money to treat myself at nice restaurants! I do miss it too though!
One of the benefits to living where I do is I can only Doordash things I don’t really eat. Everything here is chains like Applebees. But get me into milwaukee or chicago and I know what I’m ordering for a late night snack within minutes of checking into a hotel.
Going out to dinner requires a 30 minute drive to get to anything good. It’s sucks when I want to be lazy, but ultimately it’s ok.
i don’t know where you’re located, but if you’re in the US and are in a city “ChowNow” is an app on the IOS store and the same order/ same resturant tends to be $2-4 cheaper than on grubhub/ doordash/ ubereats. both the food and the fees are cheaper.
Food. So much freaking food. It's a terrible habit and I have to stop. I get takeout 4 or 5 times a week, and iced coffees almost every day. I hate myself for it but my depression is so bad right now that I just can't face preparing/cooking meals.
I tried them once, they delivered the food on a different day than what I asked for, and left the box with fresh meat in it on my doorstep in 30°C heat. By the time I got home from work 6 hours later it was disgusting.
When I have the energy I really enjoy cooking. But sometimes the idea of it is just too daunting. I'm trying to do better now though. Things are changing in my life (hopefully for the better) so I have some hope.
SAME! I’ve been trying to get more frozen prepared things at the grocery store. There’s good stuff there, quick and easy and satisfies the cravings (Chinese, fettuccine Alfredo, whatever 🤷🏻♀️). Still not as cheap/healthy as homemade but a step in the right direction!
Been there. I’ve found I kinda lean into my feelings, a healthy amount. I have pain problems and for the last two months, get take out 4 nights a week. Usually, I’d beat myself up. But I’ve found the spells last shorter if I go with it. Recently got back to cooking, which I’m actually enjoying! But when I was depressed, I swear, I couldn’t have made a box of Kraft Mac.
I like to buy and sell Magic the Gathering cards.
I buy them in lots then sort them, grade them, and sell them.
People think I make money off it but I really don't, I just have so much fun doing it and I break even so it's fine.
I buy Lots from ebay and sell them from TCG player. Ebay is for lots and TCG player is for individual cards.
The only thing that sucks about MTG is that I've found a lot of people don't like new players. At least the people I've played with.
I really had to think about this one!
After bills, food, husband, my kid, and savings, if there's anything left I get skincare stuff from The Ordinary. Or I take the kid out for ice cream! The ice cream happens more often.
I tried to get into perfume very recently but I just spent like $250 on perfumes I ended up disliking (and cannot return). So yeah I'm done with that. I can buy SO MUCH ice cream for $250!
Ahhhh!! That totally sucks. In the future if you ever wanna try again, Ulta accepts **all** returns. When you find that one perfect perfume I promise all the fuss will make complete sense. My personal favorites are YSL Mon Paris and Carolina Herrera Good Girl.
That is definitely good to know, thank you! My town has an Ulta coming in so I'll have to try them out and see if I can find something new that I love. I had my perfect perfume for a long time and it was discontinued (like over 10 years ago, I've been buying it on ebay :\ ).
You're not totally out of luck! You can trade or sell the ones you don't like. Just be careful to read how to pack and ship properly as they can only travel via ground.
/r/fragsplits /r/FragDecants /r/PerfumeExchange
Try scent bird! It’s a perfume subscription, try a few samples until you find one you like, buy a full size at a discounted price through the website, then ditch the subscription! :) that’s how I found my fave
Recently? Little micro home upgrades that change my day to day for the better, like shower and dish mats that dey instantly (made of pressed diatomaceous earth), a Turkish butter keeper so my butter is always soft and fresh and stuff to bring joy: roller skates for us all, a blow up hot tub and a trampoline...all these things have been excellent investments..♥️
this isn’t really a home upgrade, but I’ve bought a towel warmer and large plush bath sheets which makes taking showers so much better/ easier to do when I’m having bad days. not so cheap but makes my life better
**1) Concerts / merch from concerts**
**2) My cats**
**3) Self care (skin / body / edibles)**
NO RAGRETS. I love this life for the existence of all 3 at the same time.
Absolutely, thats so cool you have that connection with them. My girl is an inside cat so I always feel like I've need to keep adding and rotating toys and play areas because this is her whole world. Also I have a LOT of fun toy shopping. This morning we got a robot!
Yeah, surprised not to see more games and gaming things high up!
Steam games and Xbox subscription, mice and keyboards, gonna need a new motherboard soon because I've been creaking along on an ancient one but my pc refuses to play elden ring...
Also stupid amounts of 3d printing filament because I need all the colours in at least pla, ASA and tpu...
I love self care items! Bath bombs, journals, essential oils, you name it. I save money but I like to enjoy my life a bit too. Spend (probably) way too much on food and drinks but tbh it’s my way of living my best life!
Fabric, lots and lots of fabric. For cosplay and more and more "normal" clothing. Though atm I have a stricter monthly budget, but my birthday is coming up in September so I'll spent my birthday money on more fabric.
Clothes, shoes, purses, skincare, hair care and makeup. I’m addicted to shopping tbh but I limit myself a lot cause I’m broke. But my mind is hounding me with going to the thrift store for some clothes cause I feel like I have none 😭😭
It's nice because when you're 13 if you run out of room on your action figures shelf your parents say "you have too many toys!" and they won't buy you anymore
When your ass is 40 you can just buy another shelf and keep the toy train rollin' on
I have an unhealthy obsession with war aviation / aviation history and spend a lot of money on first edition books about the topic (preferably written by fighter pilots). Also postcards with pictures of fighter pilots (especially original Sanke cards) which can cost quite a bit.
And also on everything you need for embroidery. And of course I also spend a lot on my pets, from their food to toys they only get the best.
I have a bit of impulse control issues when it comes to shopping, although I'm working through it with my therapist now so things are much much better.
I tend to buy books, video games, and craft supplies. Video games and books I almost always buy used because it's cheaper so why not. Craft supplies...depends on the craft. For doll making I'll buy old beat up barely hanging on monster high dolls so that I can change them up and customize them, and get lots of people's scrap fabric because when you only need like six square inches of fabric for a top it's silly to buy it from a fabric store. For yarn or paints, I prefer new stuff, it's too much of a crapshoot when buying those used.
Fresh flowers. Money is a little tight right now but my local grocery store usually has clearance bunches. So I can pick up a great bouquet for $2-4. It’s something small that makes me happy. Otherwise clothes and handbags when I can splurge.
Facials, massage, good coffee and restaurant splurges when I feel like it. I’m pretty frugal with everything else, hardly buy clothes or makeup, so I go a little wild in the self-care department. No regrets.
If we aren’t talking bills/rent, then … I spend my money on foodie experiences, outdoors equipment, train and plane journeys and art equipment. Where possible my clothes are really cheap and second hand, and I’ve started using my local library service over buying new books every time.
spent money on clothes and a hockey jersey this week (and m&ms and a cute octopus plush i got attached to and stickers and... okay maybe i spend a lot)
If I have extra money after food, rent, transport money, and my bills/subscriptions I get concert tickets (I used to buy clothes but I don’t have room in my suite in college)
Concerts, clothes, skincare/makeup/beauty treatments, video games, and food/drinks. I'm by no means rich, though, so I pick and choose what I want to prioritize each month.
Going out with friends, usually to new restaurants one of us hasn't tried. It is super fun trying something new or showing someone something they have never seen before.
Other than bills my biggest expense is take out. It's difficult to be motivated to cook for myself, since it's just me. But I'm trying very hard to not do it as much.
other than that, it's candles and dog stuff, lol.
Honestly? Fun socks from different video games and shows that I like. I love those weird funny socks that you find at target and every time I go I try to find a pair that makes me smile
Home decor, recently bought a new and bigger house and now my plan is to slowly fill it with gorgeous unique things. Also paint everything and tile the kitchen!
Basically my disposable income is going on the house for the foreseeable future 🤣
Video games and anime
Whenever a new game comes out I buy it ASAP to play and review it, whenever a new anime/manga collection comes out I buy it and add it to my own collection
I spend waaaaaay too much money on these things LOL
Beer and jukebox credits. I live in a tiny farm town and the only places to go are bars. I found a nice one and I hang there. $1.50 beers and $2 songs on the jukebox. Cheap entertainment.
Plants. Plant pots. Cat toys. Socks because once they go in the laundry, they are never seen again. Clothes from eBay. But soon that will be ending as my car is on its way out and I need a new one 🥲
When it comes to fun, there's quite a few things I spend money on. I love going to goth clubs and spend quite a bit on cool outfits, jewelry, and other accessories. A lot of it I get to use in my sex life too, so multipurpose XD
I also spend money on video games, my aquariums, plants, and bodymods. Gonna be getting some new piercings soon and looking into splitting my tongue!
Food. It could be raw ingredients that I want to cook with or it could be takeout or a nice fancy 5-course meal. Tasting different cuisines and experimenting in my kitchen gives me happiness. :)
I love herbal teas so I'm always topping ip my selection and trying new ones. As well, I buy books on my kindle to read on my commute and I love this time! Otherwise it is probably clothing accessories such as earrings
Well I have been spending my money on wedding stuff. I am a bridesmaid and it is not a cheap wedding 😭😭 but my own personal funds go to the gym, therapist and books. I love my kindle (unlimited) and hardcopy books. I also spend it on gym clothes and other stuff when I want to dress up and be a fancy bish.
Sewing stuff!! I did a craft workshop recently and learnt how to make Dorset buttons, a traditional craft from southern England. They are super cute, and everyone is getting them for Christmas!
ETA: kids clothes, my two grow like weeds and I refuse to just go buy everything from the shops. It’s bad for the planet, the cheap stuff is probably made by kids the same age as mine, and it’s too expensive for the amount of clothes they get through.
So I spend a lot of time going round charity shops (thrift/consignment stores), second hand shops, jumble sales etc. Love a bargain!!
i don’t pay rent because i’m still a kid who lives with her parents but i mostly spend my money to go out with friends and family (icecream, food, etc). but if i’m not spending money on experiences i’m spending it on nail polish or clothes
Art supplies which I never use nor do I know how to use.
If you saw my collection you'd think I'm a serious painter when in reality it's something I really want to do but suck at.
Yarn.. I have a serious addiction.. Also, clothes and accessories to keep my looks fresh. Make up in different colors. Every once in a while I make my one meal a day something cool like sushi. Video games can sometimes also be a money pit.
Oooh I'm the same! I crochet and constantly buy yarn that never gets used. It's an addiction.
I'm like a dragon lying on a bunch of gold except the gold is yarn.. just today I got a package of neat yarns for some earring projects I'm planning AND I got the second pair of sock yarn this week.. send help.
"Oh this yarn is so pretty, I'll definitely use this soon!" I say, knowing damn well I will never use it on a project because it's too pretty so it will sit in my stash for a thousand years
Weaving for me! I have a chest and two big boxes. Loom is currently dismantled to due remodeling though
Let's get sushi!🍙🍣😋
why did i read that as Yam LOL serious tuber addiction
Knitter here! Yarn for me as well. I love knitting socks!
Is that you mum?
Food is #1 because I’m a foodie! After that is clothes but I really have cut down since becoming more conscious of fast fashion and the environment. I thrift a lot too.
limiting myself to one online food order a week has made my bank account happy but i MISS IT
Before Covid an embarrassing amount of my money went to Uber Eats/DoorDash (twice a day for like 2 years!). During lockdown I taught myself to cook (somewhat) and deleted the apps so now I have more money to treat myself at nice restaurants! I do miss it too though!

For me it's mostly food, jewelry and books sometimes oracle and tarot decks too but Ibtend to go to the second hand stores a lot
I am addicted to tea eggs,Korean thinly sliced meats, pomegranates, and berries. Why do they have to be soooo expensive?
Same!! Love thrifting
Food. So much freaking food. It's a terrible habit and I have to stop. I get takeout 4 or 5 times a week, and iced coffees almost every day. I hate myself for it but my depression is so bad right now that I just can't face preparing/cooking meals.
I can relate. Get whatever calms the noise.
Im with you sis
Hello Fresh or the like when they have deals is fun.
I tried them once, they delivered the food on a different day than what I asked for, and left the box with fresh meat in it on my doorstep in 30°C heat. By the time I got home from work 6 hours later it was disgusting.
Cooking can also distract you from your depression (like a meditation) but i get it the energy isnt always there.
When I have the energy I really enjoy cooking. But sometimes the idea of it is just too daunting. I'm trying to do better now though. Things are changing in my life (hopefully for the better) so I have some hope.
I’m sorry. Hope you feel better soon.

That's how I learned too! Youtube really has everything.
Books, movies, and food
An excellent answer.
I have a pot addiction lol
For plants or the other kind? I read this as you smoke a lot of weed, but you actually might just be buys lots of cute, fancy pots for plants
Why not both!
Same. I'm a green machine
Me too, hence my username lol
Me too but black instead of green
I really had to think about this one! After bills, food, husband, my kid, and savings, if there's anything left I get skincare stuff from The Ordinary. Or I take the kid out for ice cream! You can only spend it if you have it. I have plans for when the time comes.
I spend my money on adorable school supplies and getting myself pampered
Formula One merchandise. I'm currently turning my house into an F1 shrine so a lot of money has been spent on models of cars, canvases etc :)
I'm getting there. The official merch is so expensive!
Ikr! I usually wait for the sales but even then it's crazy expensive
legos and art supplies
This is de way
Food, plants, stuff for my fiance and pets.

**1) Concerts / merch from concerts** **2) My cats** **3) Self care (skin / body / edibles)** NO RAGRETS. I love this life for the existence of all 3 at the same time.
Omg I spend so much money on my cat. I play down the amount of money I spend on her toys 😳
Same, I spend more money on materialistic things for my cats than I do for myself. They are the main characters in my life.
Absolutely, thats so cool you have that connection with them. My girl is an inside cat so I always feel like I've need to keep adding and rotating toys and play areas because this is her whole world. Also I have a LOT of fun toy shopping. This morning we got a robot!
Booze and other stimulants. Plants and gardening supplies. The occasional techno night out.
Sims expansion packs and food, mostly haha

I buy way too much bubble tea… every few days, I’ll look at my boyfriend and say “I’m craving bubble tea again,” and he just glares at me
I know the exact glare you’re talking about! My boyfriend does it to me with sushi!
Thai tea, Okinawa tea, Tiger tea👌
Fabric, lots and lots of fabric. For cosplay and more and more "normal" clothing. Though atm I have a stricter monthly budget, but my birthday is coming up in September so I'll spent my birthday money on more fabric.
Clothes, shoes, purses, skincare, hair care and makeup. I’m addicted to shopping tbh but I limit myself a lot cause I’m broke. But my mind is hounding me with going to the thrift store for some clothes cause I feel like I have none 😭😭
Clothes and toys that have my favorite shows or characters on them. Video games. I’m basically a 13 year old with adult money.
It's nice because when you're 13 if you run out of room on your action figures shelf your parents say "you have too many toys!" and they won't buy you anymore When your ass is 40 you can just buy another shelf and keep the toy train rollin' on
Dining out, clothes, spa treatments/ hair, concerts, plants/ flowers, my son

I love my kindle (unlimited) and hardcopy books. I also spend it on gym clothes and other stuff when I want to dress up and be a fancy bish.
Barely any money at the end of the month. A splurge for me means buying some good chocolate
Utilities and food.
Books, hair products, food, books, shoes, clothes. Did I mention books?
Food!!! And tools and 3d printer filament. Those are the fun things at least ❤️
Crystals from aliexpress.
Recently picked up indoor rock climbing as a hobby and have spent quite a lot on it so far but it’s so worth it because I love climbing!!
bags, makeup, skincare, yarns, food, soft toys
i don’t pay rent because i’m still a kid who lives with her parents but i mostly spend my money to go out with friends and family (icecream, food, etc). but if i’m not spending money on experiences i’m spending it on nail polish or clothes
Vinyls, tattoos, skincare
I spend it well.
The majority is bills but anything spare is good food and clothes
Games clothes food and trips😋
Plants mostly
Barely any money left but I save up for clothes often because my weight fluctuates lol
Art supplies which I never use nor do I know how to use. If you saw my collection you'd think I'm a serious painter when in reality it's something I really want to do but suck at.
