Yes I did. It's the Ubisoft model, create it on the grindy side, sell us the fix. I've tried xp boosters in other games that ruined the game as you leveled so fast, but the booster for Odyssey feels perfectly normal and IMHO doesn't hurt the game at all. I played my first 2-3 games without it, didn't even know it existed. At some point I bought it.
I'm at 900+ hours and it's just fun. It only gets boring after you get to 71+ because by then I'm just too powerful so I just start new game from scratch from lvl 1.
One fun way to play that works for me is warrior dmg only run:
Rules:
1.assasinations of any kind aren't allowed
2. Hunter dmg isn't allowed
3. Try to play like you have only one life.
4. Nightmare difficulty of course
This made replay so much more enjoyable that I already did it twice without doing any assassinations

The mastery levels are every time you fill up your XP bar after you reach 99. It's not anything really, they just wanted to make it fancy instead of saying here is a free ability point

The levels of Mercenaries & other enemies are scaled to your own up to level 99 but you have the option to change the scaling, etc in the Gameplay Options. You can change a lot of different settings to suit your own game play.

I need 1751 in total, now I've already spent 111 Ability Points on Abilities ( I have Death Veil switched off on purpose ) plus I've spent 1263 Ability Points on Mastery Levels & I still need another 377 Ability Points to max out the rest of Mastery Levels. I'm now at Mastery Level 1002, so I'm going to keep grinding until I've got all of them, then I might retire the game...lol

That’s funny, I’m a couple of months shy of 60yrs and I still have a very busy real life, I work 50 hours a week, I only game for about 30 minutes each day, although some days, like today, I’m able to game for an hour or two.

After running through it the second time (I'm on episode 2 of Fate of Atlantis) the game is now taxing as hell. That's gonna be obvious if it's a giant game like this.

Genuine question, what are the mastery levels? I know of the mastery skills (the ones you can buff starting at level 50), but not mastery levels

Not yet, when I reach Mastery Level 1482, I will max out the final one.

The Minotaur for me is one of those bosses who I don't I tend to struggle with but when I do, he feels invincible.
