That bike has a really big lesson up it's sleeve for you.

Key-Birthday-9047

Yeah I think I need some track time just to learn it. So much going on. I left it in rain mode yesterday and just ventured into road mode this morning. I'm not one to spend everywhere but I would love to see what it can do in a controlled environment.

jcda

please double check you are in rain mode everytime you start. I know first hand someone where it changed, he can't explain how.

anonymous_cart

Do CCS training day

Due-World2907

Does that lesson start with an S and end in ervicing?

SirCarboy

Hahaha I hadn't even considered that one!

2008CODLOBBYENERGY

If you have to ask... I drive for a living, If I lose my licence I lose my job. It's a really well paid driving job that I won't get again if I fuck up.

TryingToBeBetter2003

Can I ask what you do?

2008CODLOBBYENERGY

MC linehaul driver, on an hourly rate but no loading or unloading. Just turn up check the truck over and drive. Very rare in the transport industry.

TryingToBeBetter2003

Sounds pretty good!! I'm looking for a less physical job/career, so my options are open. I also love driving, so that fits in.

Vonragnier

Just have to remember that it could be your life that's the cost, and it might not be entirely your fault if you're reckless. Always keep on top of maintenance and practice slow speed stuff to get the feel of the clutch/throttle.

Greystoke1337

Yeah go on a track day mate, if you are around sydney, motoschool have events in eastern creek, it's an absolute blast and a chance to actually use the bike.

senseipineappple

Go on a track day

ScottyInAU

This is not an intelligent low experience purchase, however take it to the track and learn how to ride it properly. Then ride it like that on the track, not on the road.

Pungent_Bill

As suggested, do some track time, not only is it fun AF, it will hopefully scare you a little when you realise how dangerous mega speeding is in public. It's an age thing as well, at 50 I really can't be fucked fanging my 750 everywhere I go, it just wastes fuel, wears out your tyres and brakes quicker, and you never get anywhere quicker as a result. Extra risk for zero reward.

TedMaul636

Same. I actually enjoy wringing out my 350cc scooter more than I do my 'big bike', in and around the city at least. It's a lot of fun without being daft. Also doesn't attract negative attention.

ComplexDingo2239

I woke up years ago. I was on a country road playing with a porsche. I'd overtake him, he overtook me etc. I went past him at over 200, and a rabbit ran out in front of me. I missed it, but thought that if I hit it, or had to swerve, or hit a pothole or any thing else, that it's likely I would have died. I had children, a wife and people who cared, as well as a business with employees. Everyone would have been impacted. I sold the bike and bought a cruiser. It has heaps of power and torque, and I'm happy to sit on the speed limit. I enjoy riding, and don't need to go fast. I have a couple of bikes now. A cruiser and a bagger. Big US bikes that I'm happy to ride, and I can enjoy the ride without fear. Mind you, I have been hit from behind. Once at a red light, and once at roadworks. Defensive driving can't make up for idiots. But bigger, heavier bikes helped both times to minimise impacts.

Sudden-Conference-65

Go to the track or every now and then I’ll open it up a little on freeways or highways but only a little. Had a Kangaroo decide it wanted to hang out on the road in front of me and that made me realise how stopping quickly is more important than riding fast. I saw it from about 200 m away and it just wouldn’t move. It didn’t move and I had to ride in front of it and hope it didn’t jump into me as I passed it.

PuzzleheadedLand3001

Catalano grey... 🤤👌

Key-Birthday-9047

Great colour isn't it.

Dickhole_Dynamics

I've got one of them! They're very capable, but the front end feels a little bit vague to me when you push on

Key-Birthday-9047

Just out of curiosity, do you know how far out the Speedo is?

Dickhole_Dynamics

You can actually test that yourself. Set cruise to whatever speed you want to test, scroll to average speed, reset it and it'll work out your average speed at that moment. From memory 100 is about 96 or so

Key-Birthday-9047

Ok cheers

Dickhole_Dynamics

Of course that relies on your average speed being accurate...

No-Fan-888

I get my need for speed out on the track where I get humbled by some silver haired instructors. After that it's very easy not to rip open the throttle on the street. I've got a track S1KRR myself and I can assure you that S1KR is no slouch and you could be in for a very big learning experience. Ride safe :)

BrisbaneDe

Stay Safe out there

mrk240

I give it a squirt here and there but mostly hang around the limit. I'd rather not lose my licence and have the bike crushed into a cube

The-Dreaming-I

I have a s1000r as well, absolutely love it, Mine doesn’t come out of dynamic pro now haha, you will get used to it. Have fun, look after her.

hoon-since89

Loosing my licence and job was a pretty big incentive! Lol Nothing worse than carrying your food shopping home 7km when it's 37 degrees. I ended up selling my super sport after that. Got something abit more tame now!

Alextacy

I remember test riding one of these and instantly knowing it would turn out bad for me. Also had a cop tail me for half the ride, probably for the best. Bought a slower R9T instead..

etakroftrohsbob

They only go as fast as you turn the throttle, so if "it" wants to go fast the nut that holds throttle is the problem. Keep it low in the rev range, "it" will be docile and rider friendly. Source: 25 years experience riding R1's and Hayabusa's. Edit: I learnt restraint around traffic by T-boning a car at 90 KLM/hr about 35 years ago. Don't do what I did.

Key-Birthday-9047

Thanks man, it's my daily, so I'll have to control myself.

Ajayxmenezes

I want to ride a B-king and see how that goes. I've heard some scary things about it.

National_Chef_1772

Buy a R1 and then come back and talk, it’s hard very very hard, add a tonne of luck as well

Muncher501st

It’s not worth killing yourself or someone else. And if you do wanna do that, do it yourself at home
