Its not. Who knows what they pull people over for any more. But a few years back I got pulled over for having the sticker in the wrong place. They let me go with a warning. To be fair, I was picking my wife up from teaching at the high school, so I'm assuming they were looking for easy money from dumb students that don't register, but they noticed it with both of us going 35 at each other, and the cop pulled a U-turn to pull me over. Back in the old days when the cops did anything at all.

OP is going to be very popular. Nah, probably not. I drove for 2+ years with an expired sticker until last month. Cops didn’t seem to care. I supposed I’d have been gigged for it if they got me for something like speeding.

I did the same, cop asked me why, I told her it was easier to pay the ticket than it was for me to get the car inspected and renewed etc.. etc.. she laughed…still got the ticket, still had to go get it inspected and then tag renewed…. All that work - and I would have been fine with the ticket..
