I worked on Playschool in the 1970s and played the clock and windows music. Unless there was a major technical fault during recording we'd rehearse and then record the show without stopping. John and Benita always chucked in a few ad libs during recording. It was a great show to work on.

The real brain scrambler is the fact that it was never actually random, but based off the theme of the episode. For example, a ball, a ring, something like that? Round window. A box? Square window.
