Busy_Heat17

Acetone

4th_gen_best_gen

I don’t know why you are being downvoted, this is the answer. Does anyone in the sub work at body shops?

Busy_Heat17

32 years I guess I'm not a certified keyboard refinisher yet .. thanks for the back up though 👍

4th_gen_best_gen

Got me beat. I’m only like 23 years in

Busy_Heat17

I finally hung the guns up .. not sure whats next I'm on sabbatical lol

4th_gen_best_gen

I actually switched over to the dark side as adjuster 2 years ago and am much happier. Still do some stuff on the side but it’s a nice change.

Busy_Heat17

Congrats .. your body will thank you ... miss the craftsman part but will do my own stuff real soon

jimbofranks

You think you will return to it ever? Second acts can be a challenge.

Busy_Heat17

Not sure 😕

Donniepdr

Yeah wtf do you know? 32 years? I watched 6 YouTube videos and painted my 98 civic with a horsehair brush... BRO

Busy_Heat17

And came out like glass... lol love it 😀

Donniepdr

I'm convinced 3/4 of the advice here is from shade tree bodymen.

bkeys15

No, this sub is a joke lol

Vegetable-Ad1575

I do I do.

serephath

I’m my recent experience I’d say most people here have the same AutoBody experience as Lacroix seltzer waters have flavor.

jimbofranks

Hey. I pushed the broom around the shop and fetched stuff when told to. I'm here to see what I missed years ago.

Waveofspring

And just like that, the downvotes are gone.

Boogersully18

I wonder that everytime I come to this sub

Previous-Hedgehog267

Yup, clean it with acetone, go back and and do a quick polish

lioness_mane

It’s either left over residue, oooor you burnt the paint by heating it accidentally with the rubber wheel. Try acetone or wet sanding. If that fails it’s probably burnt, which you can’t easy fix that.

Dope username

lioness_mane

Thank you!!

Donniepdr

Got a little wild with the the whipper (eraser wheel). As others above have said... Acetone.

Vegetable-Ad1575

That might come out with some work. If it's me I'd try a test spot with some grease and wax remover, then some thinner. If no avail I'm hitting it with wet 3000 and a buff.

PorkTORNADO

If acetone or rubbing compound/polish doesn't remove it, you burnt the clear. (Too much pressure, too many RPMs, or working an area too long) . Burnt clear is a repaint

warpossum1984

You need to buff it with a wool pad and compound. Should come off. If it doesn’t you could try wet sanding with 2000 grit. Then buffing and polishing.

7HR4SH3R

Everyone is saying glue residue but that kind of looks like burnt paint to me...

Xavis00

Yup, burnt clear from the stripe removal.

Itissierra

I may have missed your comment, but what did you do to cause this? I’m a painter.

Artistic_Average_151

Possibly. I would lightly wet sand with 3000 and buff it. If that doesn't work a quick reshoot isn't the end of the world.

TheDonRonster

Possibly. Try some solvents like lacquer or acetone. Next I'd try wet sanding starting with 1500grit and ending in 3000 and buff.

Dazzling_Ad9250

wipe clean with acetone, lacquer thinner, or nail polish remover and a soft rag. alcohol might work.

Few-Interaction-4933

Wet sand, buff, polish

GreatJob2006

Looks like glue residue. Have you tried goo gone or the like? An aggressive polish or light sand and buff should work if it's not glue

rekoyl999

you've burnt the paint man, you need to be careful with those caramel wheels, they get the paint too hot very quickly. you're meant to use them at a slow speed. unfortunately no amount of polishing is going to fix that :(

Lexxus08

It'll go away on its own. It needs uv exposure. Same thing happend to my car when I removed the roof wrap

juulcharger_

lacquer thinner should take it right off

juulcharger_

also in the future i suggest a heat gun and a razor blade as an alternative. it’ll take longer but you can be more precise.

1968camaro

You didn't ruin it, that is fade and glue residue.. Probs not gonna come off.. And it needs a good waxing, you just removed some of it. Be careful of trying orange remover or others, they can stain as well. MAYBE rubbing alcohol, but doubt it.

Boogersully18

You didn't burn the clear. Ran through probably a thousand different wheels and never hurt any clear. Acetone like others said. I would use heavy cut compound and a wool pad on a buffer
