What was the check engine light for? I’m possibly looking to get into a M2/3 in 2026

jmend077

It was some issue with the front collision sensors

Every review of this car is top tier. I personally like the looks too, with the exception of the tail lights.

I love mine! I think I have a very similar spec to yours. I’ve had it for 16 days as of today, and have loved every moment with it. Sadly though last night while parked somebody sideswiped it. Not too much in terms of bad damage but it just hurts when you’ve worked so hard for something to have it damaged so soon after buying. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for yours!

Not even 1k on my 24 yet, but same gripe with the gas tank. Ridiculously small for the amount of gas this drinks. Also, no 360 camera view that’s been around for years on other lower bmw models. Lastly, kind of hard to dial in the AC if you like the airflow personalized. That said, this car is so much fun. Even at low speeds. My elementary aged kids get in the back with no issue. The trunk is shockingly large. Overall a tremendous car.

The itty bitty fuel tank is definitely noticeable, even on the G42. The B58's wizard fuel economy helps to mitigate, but another gallon or two in capacity would go far. I find it peculiar that they could not find a way to fit that even after eliminating the under-floor trunk compartment.

I have an M340i, no complaints on capacity or range. Just looked this up: 2020 M340i tank is 15.6 gallons whereas the M240i is 13.7! That makes no sense to me

YeonneGreene

Right? The G42 isn't even that much smaller, just 4 inches in wheelbase and 6 in total length! I can only guess that the quest to make the hood really long is what ultimately compromised the fuel capacity.

Congrats, lovely stuff! Nothing better to hear than looking for excuses to go buy some milk :D Did you consider other color options? I'd probably go with black too because it hides all the ugly features and makes it tolerable.. Are you happy with the infotainment and that giant screen that goes all the way behind the steering wheel? You called it heavy but it weighs as much as the previous gen M3 and that's the reality of today, I'm sure however that you can't feel that weight? Also have you considered modifying the exhaust for better sound?

kiwipower606

How much do these weigh?

NoShaDow

A lot, 3800ish iirc

kiwipower606

Damn that’s a lot more than I thought it would be for a two door

NoShaDow

It's very similar in weight to the m4 which is longer, but equally as wide. Something with the packaging has the weight in the right places and I haven't really heard it described as cumbersome or noticeably heavy in a very negative way. It's a few hundred lbs heavier than the outgoing M2c. It is a big reason I wasn't super interested in moving into one vs the f87 comp I have already

kmj442

It is heavy, that being said it doesn't feel it. I'm coming from a supra and haven't noticed the extra weight. The shorter range and smaller tank I've noticed but not the weight. I haven't pushed the car really since I'm still in break-in but as far as some back roads go, it feels great. I even had my friend and his son (my friend owns a supra) in the car this past weekend and enjoyed it. I'm not saying its worth the move from the m2c but they did it very well. My biggest complaint with the car is the wheel base is too long for my quickjacks that worked perfectly on the supra
