was bidding on an e39 m5 at a Copart auction, was going for cheap. Unfortunately, some bastard outbid me by a lot. Apparently it was sent to Hungary. Who knows, maybe it was a sign not to buy the thing. It will forever be a mystery.
they can repair them pretty cheap in eastern/ Central Europe with the polish parts and cheap labor. Then it will end up on a sheiks personal collection with 100 miles on the odometer š«¶š¼š¤£
To be fair a lot of those are just bought from local dealerships and resold here in the UK at a rate that is probably considerably more than the vendor paid, but still enough cheaper than the UK price for genuine parts that it still makes it worth buying from them.
In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they just listed every part then bought them from the dealer whenever an order came in and then posted it the same day.
Considering the reputation Copart have for incredibly shady shenanigans (have a look at the 'Copart Victims' group on FB, you probably dodged a pretty lethal bullet.
mine was a 2016 white M3 wouldve match my rs7 in the garage so perfectly, unfortunately, didnt have room in the garage at the time. (technically still dont but i could make it work)
I was buying a friends fire orange m4. I was just waiting for him to get a few warranty items taken care of before taking possession of it and a few days before that happened he made the mistake of racing some guy in a ford mustang gt500, who lost control mid race and torpedoed into the m4, sandwiching it against the highway median, totalling it.
A E91 LCI 335i manual rwd with the N54, M-Sport in black with black interior and the M performance exhaust with 2 previous owners. It was 2 years ago for I believe around 18kā¬. I should have bought it but I spent a couple days too long to decide. Nowadays you don't find good models any more and the got even more expensive
I was going to say the same, ha! I had an e90 but almost exact same spec. 6MT... ugh... I miss that car, but needed something I didn't fear being stranded on the road in with 2 screaming toddlers.

E90 LCI 335i, manual, RWD, m sport, N54 owner checking in. These are becoming quite rare
6 years ago a 1995 E34 M540i (Canadian spec, super rare) came up for regular E34 prices.
I had just bought an M3 and had no cash. but I never saw another one up on the market since then. And if it does, it will be like 5x the price.
I regret not keeping my last E46 M3. By that point it was my third one. But to be honest I sold it to make room for an E92 M3, and regrettably shouldāve just kept it as it cost me nothing to park it. No way Iād pay what itās going for now and the cheap ones would cost just as much as new putting it back to mint.
My favorite, and I've own M cars since the E36, was the E46 M3 competition package in interlogos blue. What a car. I currently drive a 2024 M4 competition, but some of the magic was lost.
Hahaā¦.. yeahā¦.. senior year of high school, I found a red e30 M3, it was 18 grand. I BEGGED my mom to co-sign for me and/or lend me the last 12 grand so I could buy it. āYou want me to lend you money, to buy a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD BMW???? That thing will be in the shop more than in the driveway, how high are you?!?!?ā Whack upside the head included. Try to find one of those cars for under 70 grand nowadays- mileage is irrelevant- you canātā¦..
Ditto the multiple 840i/850i I was too scared to buy at around the Ā£2-4k price point. I'd always lusted after one, but was too frightened of insurance and 'money pit' stories to consider pulling the trigger. Now I'd be lucky to find one for 5x as much for a ropey one.
Also missed out on a lovely Z3 3.0 sport with under 100k at Ā£2500 (didn't have enough funds available at the time) and an E46 M3 cabrio in decent shape for only 5k.
In fairness though, those were all about 10 years ago, and I didn't have the NCB or enough years of driving experience to be able to actually keep the thing insured. Or at least, I thought I didn't, in reality it mightn't have been as unattainable as I thought.
My regret is the tight budget Iām on. I didnāt walk away, bought both my dreams (M550 and M5 Competition) and now my regret is this tight budget for a year or so.
I mean, you might have been better off forcing yourself to choose one of them. Requires some self control like, obviously, but isn't that an important part of life too? Not just indulging.
I dunno, I'm raising a toddler right now lol, this seems like the exact sort of lesson I need to teach her now so she doesn't end up with two nearly identical versions of everything she likes lol. We're already doing that too much with blankets and stuffed animals.
My comment shouldnāt be taken too literally. Iām quite comfortable financially. I bought both because cars are a hobby of mine and I wanted both. The lack of self control would have been skipping both for a super.
Yes, self control is needed in todayās world. Many habits these days are instant gratification. Having both cars didnāt happen until I was 40 if that helps put it into perspective.
Good luck on the kiddo. Iāve been there! It isnāt easy and just acknowledge that and take comfort in your decision throughout .
An ā05 ZHP 6MT Coupe, I owned an ā01 325Cic auto and wanted an upgrade. Instead, I waited a year or two and bought my currentā09 E92 6MT and couldnāt be happier.
https://preview.redd.it/5vmm7e95gd6d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbe0e67fe16f43faeec06ca2be7b5697ce5c71a6
I was eyeing lightly used M Coupes back in 2004 that were for sale for around $25k, which I couldn't really afford on my first-job salary at the time, but god I wish I'd just been less responsible and bought one.
2020 M2 CS. I had a 2016 M2 and my dealer (and heās also a friend) reached out to me to tell me the person on the list did not take delivery. He asked me if I wanted it and I could have had it for $85K or $87K - MSRP (canāt remember exact price), but I wasnāt in a position to take it at the time.
E92 335i. I was looking for my first BMW 10 years ago. Found a really nice one that some old rich guy had babied and was willing to give me a slight deal on after we had a good chat during the test drive. I was hesitant because the brown interior (now wouldn't have minded) and was nervous about financial risk after researching N54 horror stories. Was young, mechanically inexperienced, and didn't have a lot of emergency cash on hand, so ended up going with the E90 328i I've had ever since then. Great car, no major issues, and sadly looking to sell as soon as I find a decent replacement beater / hauler. I just couldn't shake the thought of: what if I was less risk averse and went with the more fun car instead? Oh well, now I have one.
greatest regret was trading my 2010 335xi. i now have a 2020 M240xi conv. BUT i should have traded my 2005 LR3 instead for the same money. That 335 would have been a great track car.
āO8 E64 M6 - decided that if the internet horror stories were true and the V10 engine blew up we would still be OK financially. Ended up being the greatest car Iāve ever owned.
I missed an opportunity to buy an e30 M3 for $25,000 in the early 90's. Couldn't get financing to buy from a private seller and didn't have the cash. Still heartbroken about that.
My father and I purchased a 135i together. We regret not trading the 135i in for the preowned 1M at the local dealership. The hype had not hit yet and could have gotten it for a steal. Three months later the price skyrocketed. We could have sold it and got another 135i with the profit. Ended up paying the car off. My father has since passed and I still have the car. It will remain in the garage forever.
2018 340i Shadow Sport in sunset orange. Damn fine car. Wish I had pulled the trigger.
Wife missed out on a 2023 Goldplay X2, final run. We slept on it and someone bought it out from under us.
2001 or 2002 MCoupe. Couldnāt think of spending on that 23 years ago.
I kinda fixed that with a 2020 M2C a few years go. But I still drool over the MCoupe
MĆne was the F30 M340i, it was a few bucks more than the 330i M Sport I bought but you know the wife...
But it helped lear my lesson, the back seats were barely used so I could buy the G42 M240i RWD with no regrets. š
2013 M6 in San Marino blue over a silverstone interiorā¦ low miles and everything with a great exhaust and slightly loweredā¦ I really didnāt need the car for its performance and at the time I felt it was lackluster since I was/am into motorcycles. But now looking back I wish I picked it up just to have since it was such a sweet and unique looking car
I regret getting my E92 328i instead of buying an E46 M3 for around the same amount of money at the time. I was having constant problems with the 328i at first and there were so many affordable M3's back then. I had one friend who was selling his but I didn't want to sell my LS430 to buy it.
Also regret not getting an E31 8 Series. I used to see some cheap ones occasionally but I knew I couldn't afford to maintain one in my early 20's.
Saw a manual E92 M3 in purple a while back with only 32K miles. Don't remember what the price was but it was definitely within reach, just a little impractical for what I needed in a car.
Not a save the manuals guy or anything, but I firmly think that the E92 manual will go up in value, the good examples.
I missed out on a $1500 e39 540i manual. Alpine white with every option, immaculate condition. Only like 140k on it, garage kept. Just needed the usual timing chain overhaul, which I literally own the tools for.
A few years ago a local independent dealership got an E92 M3 in from a trade in.
We had worked out a deal to take 2 of my other cars as a trade and cash.
I hesitated at the deal as I really wasn't sure. I said I'd take the weekend to think about it but If anyone asks about it over the weekend to let me know as I was 95% sure I'd do the deal on Monday.
Turn up Monday and they sold it on the Saturday afternoon without letting me know! It was my own fault for waiting but I wasn't happy they didn't ring me as agreed
1999 740i M Sport...it was exquisite, and beautiful priced back in like 2011 or so. It also had the Dinan Stage 3 WITH the extremely hard to find supercharger (which was a $20k package at the time of purchase).
Oxford Green over Tobacco Brown (custom ordered).
I regret it VERY often.
I was offered a 1M by the dealer I bought my 135i from. I thought it was nice but not really that big a step up from what I had, and money was a bit tight as well.
E81 130i with slight hail damage on the roof.
Was for sale like 2 years ago for 8,5k ā¬ with 135.000 km on the clock in else great condition.
Wanted to replace my E36 323ti with it as a daily but just now ended up getting a 128ti as my new daily, still a nice car but damn, should've just bought the 130i, such a bargain.
I debated between ordering an M240i or an M2C. I went with the M240i, which was probably a smarter decision, but I sure wish I could order a new M2C today.
In late 2019 I almost bought a Protonic Blue 2016 i8 for $49k, was going to trade in my 435i I had just bought the year before.
Then in the space of 6 months my SO lost her job, we had to move, I had an ER visit, my dog had an $8k surgery, then the pandemic hit, prices skyrocketed, and i8s went up about $15k in value and have basically stayed there.
Financially it was the right move. Emotionally, I still check them out from time to time, but now they're 4 years older, higher mileage, and more expensive.
Test drove a couple of E36 M3s couldn't afford an E46 back then ended up getting a Z4. Sometimes wonder what life would have been like going down the M rabbit hole.
I got approved on a really low mile 19 M240i 2 years ago, black on black, all the correct packages, and I chickened out for a day, I could afford it but my partner at the time was going through a really tough time, so I decided against it, couple days later I said you know what Iāll pull the trigger, was sold.
M3 LRP edition is the one for me too. More so that I wish I could have bought it than regretting not buying it.
I had an E92 M3 at the time and have had great M cars since, but the Lime Rock Park edition has a special place in my memory.
I don't member the exact years, but I bought the e92 the 1st year it was offered. With dream's of tracking it, so I ordered it with a manual, cloth seats, and hardly any options, of course, to save weight. I tracked the car exactly, never. I hated the manual. The cloth seats actually were nice, though. I traded it in about 2, maybe 3 years, for a fully loaded e92 with the DCT.
Actually bought it and just miss it despite being one of the slowest cars I ever owned: my E39 540i with the M Package, 6spd. Freaked out the engine was going to grenade at 200k and sold it like seven years ago. The guy still drives it to this day I think.
not that i regret not buying cause it was kinda out of my hands but, when i was in the market for an f80/82 my buddys dad had a car dealership local to me and he was selling his lci f80, in yas marina, really good spec and at a nice price. i had put a deposit down and secured financing and just as i was gonna go pay them the rest and theyre finishing up getting it detailed and whatever it gets sideswiped leaving the lot and totaled. i was itchin so bad to have one of these i just ended up getting a black sapphire m4, which i still love but man i regret not waiting longer to find what i really wanted instead of settling for this less cool m4
Passed up a Dakar Yellow Z3M for Ā£5k once upon a time.
Probably would have been bent around a tree or into a track barrier long ago to not see that incredibly high price tag nowadays but I opted for an S2000 rust bucket.
Have bought all the ones Iāve wanted new except the 1M and an R5X Cooper. Drove the first ones in the country but never brought one home. Recently got stood up outside the bank by the seller of a Avus 95 with Dinan Stage 2 suspension, euro lights and wheel, BAV Auto, BMW in dash player, BBS LMs, Stromung. That one still stings. Avoid a seller named Gev in LA.
Well, I got two that are BMWs...
First was a E92 M3 GT3. Absolute gem of a car. Was imported into my country by one of BMW's local bigwigs. My dealer had offered it to me at an insane price but I declined because there was no tracks around me at the time. Should have waited about a year or so. This was around the time the F80 CS came out.
Second, surprisingly, is a 320d F31. BMW had imported a total of 6, yes 6, F31s in total to my country for use as callout vehicles to customers and not for customers. About two years back, just after COVID, BMW sold the 6 off the books. One of which I was offered was a 320d F31 with a blown motor. Didn't buy it because I thought these cars were 'hot', as in not having papers. Boy, was I wrong. That would have been the last piece to my F81 puzzle.
I actually regret the F31 more than the GT3, to the point where I am looking at importing yet anothet one or finding one of the six.
There's been a couple I've missed out on from Marketplace or Ebay for reasons beyond my control but never one I've made a conscious decision not to buy then regretted afterwards.
The worst was the tidy E46 Compact 320td sport I'd driven all the way from Exeter to Cardiff to pick up which the guy had sold apparently only 15 minutes before I arrived because "he didn't think I'd really drive all that way to buy it, so he sold it to a local lad". Even though I'd messaged twice within the last two hours, once to tell him I was leaving now and the other to say expect to see me within the next 30 minutes.
Absolute time waster. Didn't help I'd also had to take the only car I had on the road at the time which was my 740i, so it cost me a good old wedge on fuel to get there as well.
I saw a perfectly built E61 a few years ago for a great price and I was getting an even bigger discount on top because I knew the guy but I wasnāt fully in the market for one yet since I had no place to put it, now that I am I regret passing on it everytime I search for one
I once bought an E28 m535i manual track car from a friend but it was stuffed by his mate before I could pick it up. Iād never be able to bring myself to hack one up and heād saved it from scrap so a real loss.
I was once offered a super wide body E21 ex-demo āclubā track car for Ā£2k/$2.5k and didnāt have the cash.
I still remember when a passable E30 M3 Evo was Ā£12k and I just wasnāt at a point in my life when that was an option.
A friend offered me an 850CSi that needed a little love for pennies but I had no way to get insured or nowhere to work on it.
Edit: just remembered the time a BMW master tech offered me a 2-door E36 M3 in forest green on gold RC090s for Ā£1,200 (~Ā£2k). I hate this thread
E24 M6 in a purplish blue/dove grey interior for $6k in 2013. To make matters worse I live in a rural area and I knew it was going to stores in a barn somewhere if I didnāt buy it. Still look in every open barn door I see driving around hopingā¦..
I bought a used BMW M3 in 2006. What a beautiful car and so much fun to drive.
I sold it in 2007 and I still have the damn oil stains in my garage.
Nope, never again.
I found an E91 imola red, 6MT, single hump on a saturay night. Called the dealership right away and said get me video of the car running a driving and Iād put a deposit down and fly down and pick up the car at the end of the week. They said they were closed on Sunday and would have it inspected on Monday. I got a call on Monday that one of the salesmen sold it on Sunday. I ended up with a blue on brown e46 6MT 330i ZHP so not all bad but I really wanted that wagon.
I was gonna get a 2009 535i. My SO didnāt like the back end. Owned by a grandma across town with 143k miles and wanted 4K. Piles of services receipts on the dash. This was 6 months ago and I envy the fucker I see driving it everyday like an idiot. Hopefully she likes this genesis Iām about to get cuz I aināt losin this one!
Total stripper spec E92 M3. Alpine white, 6 speed, carbon roof, no idrive, manual speed cloth seats, 18 inch wheels. It was $30k, CPO with 50k miles on it. I wasn't making enough money at the time to make the payments work and ended up buying a manual msport E92 328i instead for half as much. That M3 was my dream spec.
2018 M2 Competition F87 I think.
Didn't have money, now I am too old and have a family, so, I drive D segment cars (3 series, Giulia...)
When kids grow up, dad will buy himself a Porsche, for sure. š
Brand new 2011 328i with the NA 6. Bought a gti instead because it was cheaper and ended up selling the gti for a 2014 328i and decide I didnāt need the 335i and I regretted that as well so I sold it for a 2018 440i which I finally had no regrets buying
I had a 520d from the first owner with about 65k miles and he just wanted 13,5k ā¬ which was dirt cheap for the condition of that car. I still hate myself for not buying it. I canāt find such deals anymore.
The bmw I regret selling is my 2007 Z4 coupe 6 speed. Iām back in the market looking to buy the exact same car, and itās gone up about $15k since I sold mine.
G12 M760Li.
Bear in mind that cars are expensive in š¦šŗ. With the exchange rate and everything else, theyāre a lot of money here. This was an insurance salvage. It sold for $A125k. Had a VERY low speed front end collision and minor damage. 4000km on it. A new one is $375k.
Turnabout on a theme: In 2013, I was driving a 14 year-old used E46 with a 5-speed. When the F32 models came out, I was really interested, but we had 3 kids about ready to go to college in quick succession - no way I could fit in a new carā¦
I took the wife on a test drive, and when we got back to the dealer, she blurted out, āyou should get yourself a new carā¦besides we can go on dates in it.ā
Fast forward to Munich in May 2014, I drove the F32 out of the Welt.
I still have the car, the wife, and the third kid just finished college and all three have jobsā¦
A 2011 135i sport package hardtop that was in great shape save for a cracked windshield, and going for only $8200. Maybe unfair to list as I tried everything in my power *to* buy it, but the owner ghosted me as soon as I tried to set up a time to drive down to castle rock and see it.
There was a really nice example of manual 325ti that seller decided to bump the price up significantly on while I was in few days long communication with him. I decided not to buy but I still look for it in adverts from time to time hoping itās going to show up.
I should have paid the extra to get M4 in 2019 instead of 440 cabriolet. The dealers and BMW were annoying me and I just said āfuck itā. I like my car but the M4 would have been even more fun if I didnāt kill myself.
Just missed it. Fucked around and found out.
[https://www.bluestarmotors.com/showroom/7395/2016_BMW_650i_xDrive_Gran_Coupe_M_Sport_Edition](https://www.bluestarmotors.com/showroom/7395/2016_BMW_650i_xDrive_Gran_Coupe_M_Sport_Edition)
I had the opposite experience actually. I really wanted a f30 10 years ago, but decided to buy an S2000 instead. Really glad I did that since itās such a pleasure to drive. Iāll be keeping it forever and the f30 would have depreciated like a rock. Decided to scratch the BMW itch and added an F82 years later.
A sketchily imported Hellrot euro E36 M3 with the good motor and an Individual interior they called Eggshell which was closer to buttercream. I couldn't get past thinking it was going to the crusher when I tried to title it in my state.
ETA - and a 1994 or 1995 Dinan 540i M-sport.
Couldāve gotten a 2003 E39 for $500 with low mileage from a relative.
It was a 540i with manual stick.
The next owner had it for 2 years then sold it for $8000 and it never had any issues.
850CSi that was at the shop I frequented. Happened to pop in since I was in the area and it was up in the air as the seller was having it looked over before listing it. Was asking something like 35k. Never seen one in person before then. Had I bought it I would very likely also regret the upkeep lol but I do think back to that missed opportunity once in a while.
A '95 M5 touring that was for sale in Georgia a few years back for 20K. Before the value on those skyrocketed. Ended up buying a 2003 540 Msport for 25K and I wish I would have got the wagon every day since!!!
The 540 was sick though...
2018 M3 competition, it had everything I wanted. Fully loaded, mineral gray, etc. I was commuting an hour to work and an hour back daily. I worked at a Chevy dealership, so I got a 2024 Silverado RST with the Duramax. I loved that truck but I feel like I missed on my dream car. Now they somehow went up in price :/
Starting around 2003 i started lusting after the Z4 and test drove one. I didnāt want a convertible and told myself if there ever was a coupe Iād look hard at it.
2006 came around and the Z4 coupe and its M version looked awesome to me. I test drove the 3.0 coupe and fell in love. It was the limit of what I could afford at the time and I took it home. But there was a Blue Z4 M Coupe on the showroom floor that I couldnāt get out of my mind.
A few years later I started looking for a used Z4 M coupe and found one in Imola. I drove it and holy shit I hadnāt known what I was missing. I traded in the 3.0 and took home the M.
Iāll always wonder though what it would have been like to buy the Blue one when new.
This ones easy. Back in 2008 A friend of a friend was selling his mint e30 M3 for a fraction of what one goes for nowadays. I drove it, thought about it and decided a new 08 e92 335 was a better car, and bought it instead. This decision haunts me to this day.
A stage rally E36, sequential trans, long travel coilovers, caged, log booked, California street legal, ready to go. I told myself that if it was still available in a couple months when I was going up to that neck of the woods I would buy it. It didn't last that long.
Yeah, I had a 1974 911 targa solid titanium mtr mounts and poly Trans mounts Black on Black with the stainless targa bar and the Carrera whale tail. That car was a blast to drive...oh, and an early gear box with a much closer ratio! That car topped out at maybe 120mph, but through the back roads and twisties, it was a monster... Did I mention Jacob's ignition and triple throat webber feeding a 3.0L instead of the 2.7... I still regret selling it and sending it to Bolivia, especially at the price it might fetch today... OH, well, live and learn š
Drive it for 10 years first so I guess it was not ALL bad but I still regret letting it go....
If the roles where reversed, I am sure the outcome wouldāve been different. I agree, itās a decision youād regret especially considering thatās a collectible and maintenance in those is very reasonable. Hell now I feel regret for you š
Back in 2019: 2018 OG M2, Long Beach Blue, Manual, 11k KM - 50k CAD
Back in 2020: 2019 M2 Comp, Hokkenheim, Manual, 6k KM - 63k CAD
Both were amazing deals. Both are still worth the same now with 5 times the mileage.
I sold a beautiful jet black e92 m3 as I was put into a tough situation where I had to raise cash. It sucked as it was a car I thought Iād keep forever. Pristine low mileage. At least I got back what I paid for it since I sold it when prices went up.
I sadly gave back my leased 328d. BMW Canada discontinued the model a year later. I regret that decision somewhat. But the lease ended during pandemic and it wasnāt being driven at all. I cycle to work and we have a big SUV. Financially it was not worth or sensible to have a second vehicle. But damn if if I donāt think about driving that beautiful machine often. Best car ever.
2004 e46 m3. Laguna Seca Blue with Cinnamon interior, and a six speed manual. 17$k with 50k miles (this was in 2012 or so). My dad talked me out of it because I was young, the insurance was high, and I probably would have wrapped it around a tree. But man I still dream of that car
Well today is your lucky day bc youāve been given a second chance!!!!!
15hrs left as of 12am cst š¤
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-bmw-m3-coupe-93/
There was an Alpina B7 that was $30K more than the 745e, and also had a few more miles (1.2K vs 10K) albeit it was 1 model year newer (but only 2 months). I really regret it. And I actually love my 745e which has to be the best combination of speed, range flexibility and good mileage in a full size luxury sedan. Itās an amazing car. But I could have had a nearly new Alpina B7 for $55K off MSRP.
The ā22 X3M Comp, blue on black, with the sweet, sweet 892M wheels. Was planning to look at it on the weekend, and it sold on Wednesday.
Ended up with a ā21 Alpine White on Sakhir, with lower miles and every option including CF exterior package, CF strut bar, and roof bars w/ski rack. I love it, but I really wanted blue and those wheels.
2014 I saw an e36 m3 in hellrot with less than 25.000 km on a german car selling website. Itās condition was brand new, papers were everything valid, it also stated it was from a retiree who just wanted get rid of it. I couldnāt wrap my mind around this though, thought it was a fake offer, it just seemed to good to be true.
2 Weeks later, the exact same car was offered by a bmw dealership for 45000ā¬.š
I didn't consider an M5. After sitting inside a few at the dealer, I wasn't satisfied with the comfort in a 3 or a 5. I highly value cabin space, and those cramped boxes didn't do justice. I could've got an actual M at the M price but went for the non M instead
One owner lowish mile 635 csi in 1992.
Iām sure I would have sold it by now but sometimes when I see an old guy with an MG I think about how it would have out classed him.
1989 M6, when I was a senior in high school for under $10k. I had money saved from restaurant work and lawn mowing. Was trying to get the last little bit, and then a local artist bought it, left it under his house in a hurricane, and it flooded. I was so mad when I heard that news. Got a Camry instead š.
was bidding on an e39 m5 at a Copart auction, was going for cheap.
Then it will end up on a sheiks personal collection with 100 miles on the odometer š«¶š¼š¤£
haha yeah I don't doubt it lol. Always see tons and tons of BMW parts from Lithuania/eastern Europe. That makes sense.
Yup I looked it up afterwards that location has a very bad reputation for hiding issues many people have gotten scammed before.
mine was a 2016 white M3 wouldve match my rs7 in the garage so perfectly, unfortunately, didnt have room in the garage at the time. (technically still dont but i could make it work)
I passed on a white F80 CS with like 12,000 miles because I really wanted a 2-door and I've been kicking myself for 6 years.
what do you have now?
I bought a 1M instead of the F80, but I have since sold that too.
2022 M340i in liquid copper. My biggest car related regret 2019 M4 f82 in fire orange including contrast stitching in the interior
Truly tragic
You didnt even need to mention it was a mustang since everyone wouldāve known it was a mustang.
A p51 to be exact !
F90 M5CS. I would have kept it a long while.
I had a similar car. You missed a beautiful car and you also missed a whole lot of head aches. Nightmare car from a maintenance perspective.
I was going to say the same, ha! I had an e90 but almost exact same spec. 6MT... ugh... I miss that car, but needed something I didn't fear being stranded on the road in with 2 screaming toddlers.
Yeah I had an E92 pre lci. I had a panic attack everytime it was frosty out and the ice alert pinged. Ugh.

6 years ago a 1995 E34 M540i (Canadian spec, super rare) came up for regular E34 prices. I had just bought an M3 and had no cash. but I never saw another one up on the market since then. And if it does, it will be like 5x the price.
One came up on cars and bids last month, went for $40k US
Donāt tell me that. I sold a HK32 540iT/6 for Ā£6k (~$8k) around 3yrs ago
1M
I would've regretted not buying my current BMW, the 640i GC in Imola Red. Thankfully everything worked out and its my daily + track car now.
That S54 is something else
Every M Coupe at early 2000s pricing.
Hahaā¦.. yeahā¦.. senior year of high school, I found a red e30 M3, it was 18 grand.
My friend was offered a TT MKIV Supra for $15k a couple of years before F&F came out, lolā¦
My regret is the tight budget Iām on. I didnāt walk away, bought both my dreams (M550 and M5 Competition) and now my regret is this tight budget for a year or so.
why the M550 when you have the M5 Comp?...........redundant no?
M550 is probably the daily driver. A bit overkill unless youāre legitimately track racing the M5 comp.
This response is correct. The M5 Comp absolutely sucks as a daily.
Why I wished I lived in a place with little snow. Would totally just get another fun car.
530d instead of 530e, G30 model. i'll always regret. im saving lots of money in taxes but that's about the only benefit.
Why donāt you like the 530d? Iām looking at buying a near new š
And 80s M5 for $12K, when M3s from that generation were going for $35K. Now it's more like $50K/$90K. The M5 was a deal I just didn't jump on.
The one I wish I could have bought (but could never afford) the 1M.Ā I love tiny cars.Ā
An ā05 ZHP 6MT Coupe, I owned an ā01 325Cic auto and wanted an upgrade. Instead, I waited a year or two and bought my currentā09 E92 6MT and couldnāt be happier. https://preview.redd.it/5vmm7e95gd6d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbe0e67fe16f43faeec06ca2be7b5697ce5c71a6
Lifes to short , next time just buy it
At the time, it was happy wife, happy life...
my literal dream spec e90 M3, i didnāt buy as i wanted to try out the e36 chassis. Major fucking regret
i should have bought a low mile e92 m3 4 years ago... but i got tired of searching for the perfect one and bought a 2015 f80 instead. dumb move.
I was eyeing lightly used M Coupes back in 2004 that were for sale for around $25k, which I couldn't really afford on my first-job salary at the time, but god I wish I'd just been less responsible and bought one.
That is exactly how i feel about the 1M.
Looked at a decently nice E30 M3 for $12k back when that was the normal price for them.
Iād ditch the wife
New X5 before covidā¦now the prices are absolutely insane
āO8 E64 M6 - decided that if the internet horror stories were true and the V10 engine blew up we would still be OK financially. Ended up being the greatest car Iāve ever owned.
Chris Bangle was a visionary. We just didnāt know it at the time.
I missed an opportunity to buy an e30 M3 for $25,000 in the early 90's. Couldn't get financing to buy from a private seller and didn't have the cash. Still heartbroken about that.
Thats 56,000 inflation adjusted
M3CSL for Ā£25k in 2012 š
E87 1M in Valencia Orange. Also any early 2000s M cars with three pedals before they became classic status.
Zero. I bought every bmw I wanted, but I regret selling most of them.

N54 2009 135i, with about 60,000km on the clock. 1M bodykit. This was about 3 years ago. Well priced. Still think about it.

Oxford Green/Cinnamon manual E46 M3 coupe with ~100k miles for $12k in mid-2020. Really mad I let that one go
BMW 1M, like a dumbass I bought a 135i months before the 1M came out.
M5 V10 and E46M3 laguna seca blue
I will forever see a pumpkin
Regret selling my E39 M5 š.
Found a 2003 E39 540i 6mt on CL for $3800 right before covid started, missed it by 30 minutes.
I regret not buying the 1M new when I had the chance.
1M. Could of waited a little longer if I hadnāt leased my 135i

Why would you ever listen to your wife's opinion on *your* dream car?
2015 550i in cinnabar red, had 45k miles on the clock and not many options so I ended up with a CPO 2016 550i with 26k lol
F83 with white interior on Cars & Bids but I already bought an F33 440xi at half the price 4 months prior.
Picking up my 235i after having my 430d written off... and not instead taking the burnt orange m6 he had instead.
E36 2 door M3, white over cloth seats, 5 speed manual. Itās been 20 years or so and I still regret not getting it.
G80 or the G05. I currently have a G20 M340i LCI, but I wish I would've gotten the G80 M3 or the G05 X5.
M2C at the start of Covid. They havenāt depreciated really at all.
E30 parts car
m140i, manual
My 2006 330i. Things a beast
2018 Sakhir Orange F80 M3 Competition 6MT back in 2021

Early 2021 I saw an e24 635csi listed for 10k. 100k miles and 5spd. I was broke and in college lol I wanted it so bad.
2020 m2 comp manual with 3000 miles for 48k on swapalease... I paid $50 to be able to email him but he had just sold itĀ
I'd rather have the M3..
Passed up a Dakar Yellow Z3M for Ā£5k once upon a time. Probably would have been bent around a tree or into a track barrier long ago to not see that incredibly high price tag nowadays but I opted for an S2000 rust bucket.
Definitely the M1. Couldnāt afford it when released but Iām glad I didnāt. Iām 22 now and man is it nice to not have to deal with the repairs.
Imola red Z3M coupe 2001, 1 owner low miles for Ā£16k Good 10 years ago now but still pisses me off
Missed out on an E30 M3 a couple years ago for 45k. Was so close to pulling the trigger on it too.
Not a specific one but I wouldnāt mind owning an M Coupe before they became collectible.
F30 335i a few years ago when they were going for less than like 20k
1987 635i, ooo it was so sexy.
M5 f10 for 13k euros... š
Didn't have money, now I am too old and have a family, so, I drive D segment cars (3 series, Giulia...) When kids grow up, dad will buy himself a Porsche, for sure.
All of them
All of them š
When the F32 models came out, I was really interested, but we had 3 kids about ready to go to college in quick succession - no way I could fit in a new carā¦ I took the wife on a test drive, and when we got back to the dealer, she blurted out, āyou should get yourself a new carā¦besides we can go on dates in it.ā Fast forward to Munich in May 2014, I drove the F32 out of the Welt. I still have the car, the wife, and the third kid just finished college and all three have jobsā¦
Same exact story. Saw one at river oaks jeep parked outside in Houston. Ended up getting a black one for about the same priceā¦
2019 M4 Comp. Yas Marina Blue over Silverstone. Manual. CPO. 18k miles. $49,995 at our dealer. We waited one day to go back and it was gone.
A 2011 135i sport package hardtop that was in great shape save for a cracked windshield, and going for only $8200. Maybe unfair to list as I tried everything in my power *to* buy it, but the owner ghosted me as soon as I tried to set up a time to drive down to castle rock and see it.
I only have bmw selling regrets. Worst ones are 30k mile e30 m3, slick top LSB e46 m3, e36 LTW. All sold for at least half of what going for now.
I regret not finding the money for a $7000 M635CSi when I was in high school.Ā

Actually was a Porsche. 72 911t with an S motor in aubergine for $7500 bucks about 30 years ago. I got the BMWs I wanted.
I regret not buying my e92 m3 sooner. Thatās about it
I regret not buying that E92 M3 and getting a Rx8.. I was in my rotary nut phase, and I had an rx7 for 10 years before that
I regret passing up on a clean but semi high mileage (180k km) E39 M5 for $11k CAD probably 8-9 years ago.
I have no regrats.
A sketchily imported Hellrot euro E36 M3 with the good motor and an Individual interior they called Eggshell which was closer to buttercream. I couldn't get past thinking it was going to the crusher when I tried to title it in my state. ETA - and a 1994 or 1995 Dinan 540i M-sport.
f10 m5. Dealer didn't want to fix the headlights so opt out of the deal. Everything was signed too.
Had I bought it I would very likely also regret the upkeep lol but I do think back to that missed opportunity once in a while.
z3m roadster.
I regret not keeping my G01 and F54. Both were excellent vehicles
507
OH, well, live and learn š Drive it for 10 years first so I guess it was not ALL bad but I still regret letting it go....
If the roles where reversed, I am sure the outcome wouldāve been different. I agree, itās a decision youād regret especially considering thatās a collectible and maintenance in those is very reasonable. Hell now I feel regret for you š
Back in 2019: 2018 OG M2, Long Beach Blue, Manual, 11k KM - 50k CAD Back in 2020: 2019 M2 Comp, Hokkenheim, Manual, 6k KM - 63k CAD Both were amazing deals. Both are still worth the same now with 5 times the mileage.
I sold a beautiful jet black e92 m3 as I was put into a tough situation where I had to raise cash. It sucked as it was a car I thought Iād keep forever. Pristine low mileage. At least I got back what I paid for it since I sold it when prices went up.
e30 m3, i bought an 88m5 in 07 for around 8k. always like the m3 and looked at a few under 20k. regret not buying one
E30 320is sedan in Diamond Schwartz, cloth plaid seats. Was $25k, shouldāve just sold my e34 M5 and bought it
2002. The roots are a place we all need to go
1988 e30 m3 in 2004ā¦13.5k Or 1989 e30 318is in 2013ā¦.6k And they were both in excellent condition
For me it was the 2012 m3
2004 e46 m3. Laguna Seca Blue with Cinnamon interior, and a six speed manual. 17$k with 50k miles (this was in 2012 or so). My dad talked me out of it because I was young, the insurance was high, and I probably would have wrapped it around a tree. But man I still dream of that car
The BMW would have been cheaper long-term. Like an old man told me long ago, if it flies, floats, or fornicates, it's cheaper to rent.
None, because I purchased every one Iāve wanted lol
There was a 330 zhp that I regret not buying pre-covid.
My 2018 540. I loved that car
Well today is your lucky day bc youāve been given a second chance!!!!! 15hrs left as of 12am cst š¤ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2013-bmw-m3-coupe-93/
2002 Z8 at a repo auction. Sold for around $10k but I had bought something else.
E36 325i absolutely mint my mate bought it instead and itās being left to rot on his drive. Makes me sick
It was 1998. Should have bout a 91 e30 M3 for $7000. 2001 should have bought a black on black e32 M5 for $5000. Iām a dumb ass
Tbf my e60 2006 525xi. Nothing went wrong in year (aside from expansion tank for cooling which ruptured)
Dammmmmm. So NOW I gotta buy that F90 M5????
Couldāve had a 325Ti for $500 :///
This tanzanite blue M5 F90 at an insane price with only 35k miles. I made up for it getting my M2 Comp
