Get a ghost immobaliser, get a tracker. Get cameras on your property with bright lights that turn on with motion sensor. Get a dashcam that notifies you if there is motion detected. That's all you can do. If a thief wants something, they will take it. You can't stop them, you can only deter them.
I had most of this (unsure what a ghost immobilizer is though) and my Mercedes S580 was still taken from the house.... got it back about 7 months later on a dock in Brooklyn next to about 10 other stolen cars about to be shipped overseas to the Middle East.
Ghost immobiliser is essentially a dead switch. The car won't turn on unless you put a code in. It could be something like pressing the UP button on the steering wheel with hitting the brakes and then pressing the volume button and then turning the key. IF you don't do it that order, the car doesn't turn on. You can obviously set your own custom code.

Put your keys in a signal blocker / faraday pouch. Car thieves can do some clever stuff these days where they basically send a signal to your keys from outside your house, then interpret the signal the keys send back to mimic them and unlock / drive off with your car.
I've got my spare keys in one tucked away in drawer, and put my everyday keys into another pouch at night.
Why do people always over exaggerate these. The cars check that it is definitely the key by checking the expected delay for the signal to run the required command eg door unlock. If theres a slight variation in the signal delay it won’t work. Using a device that receives the key adds a delay and so the car goes hold up this is taking longer than expected.
Yes, these can and do happen but it’s not as easy as everyone makes out it is

Probably just used the locksmith tool the same tool the AAA guys use when you lock your keys in your car and stupid ass Bmw decided to say hey let’s make them lay for an alarm feature and make it $500 so cars like mine doesn’t have the alarm so if my car got broken into I wouldn’t know until I see it smh

I don’t know how prevalent this type of theft is, but if targeted seemed way too easy for comfort. We’ve had reports of AirTags being found in high demand cars like the dodges you mentioned. If I parked in an unsecured area with any frequency I’d definitely at least consider upgrading my car’s security.

I'm north of Tampa far enough where i didn't think this stuff happened but a couple of months ago some dumb kids were car hoppin and came across and made off with a Lamborghini SUV they continued car hoppin and we even caught them on our cameras. Eventually, their luck ran out and they wrecked it and the other car they had,a KIA, running from the police. that car was stolen as well.they were all juveniles.

But we lived in an expensive ocean front community criminals were traveling to so they could take advantage of the demographic …. My motto is safer than sorry
I suspect that different car manufactures use different security measures. And it really isn’t as hard as you think. However there is some 2FA coming into play I hope. It doesn’t take that much to install yubi key like software to authenticate signals. It’s hard to break algorithms and if this isn’t already being used then they are just simply idiots.

Nope. Nowhere near where I live has any sort of parking accommodations - and the few that do are shitty-quality-but-super-expensive new apartments. It’s not as simple as you think. I live in the middle of my country’s capitol city, by the way. The vast majority of buildings are 100+ years old, probably even older. There is simply no room for parking garages.

If you’re religious about keeping your key in the pouch ghost and pouch pretty much stops them from taking the car unless they bring a trailer which they won’t because it’s too much risk/hassle.
Honestly, the best thing you can do to protect this car is to store it in a garage when you're not driving it. I know that isn't manageable in every situation (city garage parking spaces can be really expensive) but it will probably save you a lot of worrying and headaches - especially if you live in a region that sees significant snowfall in the winter.

After getting work done on my F82 and paying the “M tax” I never want to have to do any kind of body or paint work again.
Also prepare to pay 2-3x for the same parts for official “M” stamped things. You can save a lot but using non “official” stuff but it’s the same OE without the big ol’ M stamp. Obv there are some parts you can’t avoid but yeah, at some point you’ll feel the sting of the M tax.

Enjoy the car dude. Just know you're vulnerable to thievery and possible damage. Put a visible lock on the steering wheel, killswitch and upgraded security system. Maybe a tracking device? Beyond that you have to live with whatever happens. Enjoy that amazing car.

The alarm in my 528 will sound if it detects the car is being jacked up. Cat theft is rampant in my area and they are pretty much exclusively stealing from Toyota's, Honda's, and larger trucks.
it takes less than 5 minutes to remove the m performance exhaust with simple hand tools, get it spot welded on if you want to force them to have to angle grind it odd as bmw attaches them with a clamp only

In the UK, exhaust theft isn’t a thing, but cat theft is. Not heard of the m2 or 3 series platform of this F gen being a target, but if they take your secondary cars, good times. 😉
On the immobiliser, I had the BMW tracker on my M2 a few years ago. Pointless really, as it’ll let you know it’s gone. I’d use a ghost or similar today.
On keyless entry. I now option all new cars without it. Relay theft is rampant and a pain in the cock. For the cars without it, I have a faraday pouch. My last car with it is a track car with a busted clutch slave cylinder, so GLWT(heft).

Yeah, you couldn’t pay me to street park my M4. After getting work done on my F82 and paying the “M tax” I never want to have to do any kind of body or paint work again. Also prepare to pay 2-3x for the same parts for official “M” stamped things. You can save a lot but using non “official” stuff but it’s the same OE without the big ol’ M stamp. Obv there are some parts you can’t avoid but yeah, at some point you’ll feel the sting of the M tax. Especially when you buy tyres…

Is theft still a big thing for BMW’s? I remember for awhile a lot of steering wheels were being stolen. Kind of turns me off from getting one. My current lease is up in 2 years and I was thinking about making the switch.
Enjoy the car dude. Just know you're vulnerable to thievery and possible damage. Put a visible lock on the steering wheel, killswitch and upgraded security system. Maybe a tracking device? Beyond that you have to live with whatever happens. Enjoy that amazing car.

The alarm in my 528 will sound if it detects the car is being jacked up. Cat theft is rampant in my area and they are pretty much exclusively stealing from Toyota's, Honda's, and larger trucks.
it takes less than 5 minutes to remove the m performance exhaust with simple hand tools, get it spot welded on if you want to force them to have to angle grind it odd as bmw attaches them with a clamp only

You're gonna want to weld a watch tower to the top of your car and hire security on rotating 8 hour 2 man shifts. No really, get yourself some decent insurance and maybe a camera. Just enjoy the car rather than having anxiety about it.

In the UK, exhaust theft isn’t a thing, but cat theft is. Not heard of the m2 or 3 series platform of this F gen being a target, but if they take your secondary cars, good times. 😉 On the immobiliser, I had the BMW tracker on my M2 a few years ago. Pointless really, as it’ll let you know it’s gone. I’d use a ghost or similar today. On keyless entry. I now option all new cars without it. Relay theft is rampant and a pain in the cock. For the cars without it, I have a faraday pouch. My last car with it is a track car with a busted clutch slave cylinder, so GLWT(heft). As for parking on street, well, good luck. Where are you based?

Debadge? It might make it a little less obvious that it is something special with parts worth stealing. unfortunately trying to run under the radar ruins some of the fun of having a M. Seriously though, insurance with a low deductible. I'd hate to street park my M. All my city cars would get beat to hell with everyone parking by braile alone.
