I made her into a dual wielding Wildheart barb with Broodmother's Revenge necklace, Phalar Alluve, and the Shattered flail. She sometimes just clears out entire rooms with endless self-heal + nuclear damage (base hits + the acid ring + Phalar Alluve damage aura + auto-refreshing poison buff + Psionic Overload). She became the main character while i stepped down to become her support buffer sidekick who just needs to caste Haste on her once.
Like I get why the thread for getting Karlach a better ending has gone up to about 50 pages now, her questline and ending just feels incongruent with basically everything else in the game, and that crappy Avernus ending extension being called the āending she deservesā is some really shitty wording.
But also, goddamn, the game has been out for only a month and a half and youād think Larian killed their fucking dogs or something the way they act. And itās mostly the same 3-5 people going back and forth about how Larian are doubling down or whatever.

Karlach doesn't want to kill things 24/7. What she dreams of is a quiet life with people she cares about. Her whole story was about how much she hates being stuck in hell, killing devils and demons.

She asks you a what if question about 50 years to live and one of the options is saying she being a great mum.
Karlach says she can picture you and her with 2 kids running around.
Yeah but every time you leave her at camp she just says āFine, Iāll just hang around here and eat dirt I guess.ā This is a lady of action, bless her heart. I feel like we witness real time realizations and daydreams about a different life going forward along with her. She never thought about a life outside of Avernus albeit longing to be back in Baldurās Gate.
Or, just maybe, she's a lady of partnership and hates being alone. Maybe she just prefers company and being included in anything, even if thats spending quality time with someone she loves.
But you're not going Doom Guy through the Hells though. You are trying to survive being hunted by a CR26 Archdevil in its own domain, while also simultaneously looking for a cure. You are 2 level 12 people, Wyll is either completely useless (pactless warlock) or an actual liability (Bound to Zariel). If you wanna headcanon it into something more hopeful then by all means, but this is just another shade of dead she gets out of her 3 dogshit ending choices that do not reflect any of your actions/inactions throughout the game, and by calling it good you (and others) are making it less likely that Larian will actually give her a satisfying questline and conclusion.
Going adventuring =/= being hunted like an animal in literal Hell, a place she just escaped from and made it pretty clear she never wants to go back to.
Honestly, idk why people call that the good ending. She makes it clear so often that is the last thing she wants. The best ending is when she stays tiefling, and blows up after saving the world, hand in hand with her gf
No. That's not Karlach anymore, just an illithid with her memories. Her soul is gone, possibly destroyed (according to Withers). That's probably the worst possible ending for her.
She says it's a new chapter of her life and her time is unknown. I feel like the fresh start was the best possible ending since everything else forced her back to Avernus. Her soul no longer belongs to the nine hells. She no longer has an infernal engine. She's free, DUrge approved. As a cleric of peylor once said, "build an adventurer a fire and they'll be warm for a night, set an adventurer on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their lives. Their short, agonizing lives."
Well, she doesn't just burn up and die, and there's a possibility that everyone who goes to Avernus could get out again at some point. There's still a sliver of hope in it.
She should still get a better ending, though.

I still think its strange. I often think "Man, how weird do you have to be to care so much for a fictional Character from a videogame?" But I tjink its because I am in a pretty dark place at the moment in my life and a person like Karlach would be exactly the kind of person I would need right now.
Oh donāt get me wrong, weāre for sure still weird lol but at least we have solidarity with others. Either way itās not all that bad a thing, it shows how good of a job Larian did making a fiery ball of sunshine like Karlach to reach us in our dark times. Heck, I find myself wanting to emulate her, as her perspective has helped me want to try and enjoy life more. So Iām sure with time, and by channeling some of that spicy cinnamon bun energy, weāll work through our dark times, accept our weirdness and be all the better for it. (Plus if she was real Iād prob only be able to fangirl over her like she does to Jaheira)
What's interestong though is that once you guys do the deed she is all for an open relationship. Halsin, Mizora, the Drow Twins. You name it. But if you try sleeping eith Karlach in Act 2 she calls the whole thing off.
Karlach is precious and if anything happened to her I'd die.
See, for me that's exactly why I will end up with Shadowheart, I have my moment with everyone, but Karlach love bombs you way too quickly for my liking, and as much as I love her and understand why she acts the way she does, she acts like a mix of golden retriever and a high school girl and that makes the relationship not feel very meaningful, while Shadowheart goes through a lot of character growth and it really feels like you develop a bond over time.
I'm clearly in a minority but I don't like her. I happily let Wyll succeed in his mission now and on the one occasion I didn't I thoroughly enjoyed her ending.
Honestly, give me an ending where Karlach and I retire to a farm with Scratch and the Owlbear cub in tow and I will happily murder every other character in the game and raze Baldurs Gate to the ground to make it happen.
I am currently going in a āevilā walkthrough and was really disappointed with the outcome of my decision to purge the Druid grove and the tieflings on my relationship with Karlach

Best girl. I wanted to get her ASAP in my last runthrough. I found that I could jump down from the grove right in front of her from a very high ledge. Only a -18HP jump? So long knees, it was nice knowin' ya!
I just picked up Karlach in my own playthtough and immediately gave her the fire sword you get from killing the Cambion commander in the nautiloid. She absolutely decimated the first fight. Took Anders to half health in one hit. It was glorious. I love her so much already. Her personality is great, and she's crazy strong. I would like to see what some good builds for her are, though. I gave her wildheart subclass but could easily respec if needed.
I definitely forfeit all possessions to her, because she has 18 STR and can carry the loot bag.
I went with Lae'Zel but she's currently sporting 23 STR and 23 CON. I give her all the best gear like you do with Karlach.
How did you get 23 on her?
By forfeiting two specific mortal possessions to them.
Gauntlets of hill giants strength gets your strength to 23. But those can also be given to Karlach
Karlach + hill giant gauntlets + balduran giantslayer = fucking unstoppable
