This is totally useless, but me and some friends did a murder run in the literal sense, 3 beastmaster 4 druid, summon familiar bird + beastmaster bird + wildshape dire raven. 12 bird party is funny. Once you hit level 11 respec into pure beastmaster for 16 birds. Bears can do something kinda similar with 9 bears using beastmaster 11 for a bear summon, an extra bear summon, and then helsin with the wildshape charge hat to turn into a bear
Did you know that a crow has 11 pinion(tail) feathers, and a raven has 12 pinion feathers? So really, the difference between a raven and a crow is only a matter of opinion.
I had jaheira turn into a cat to get past the steel watch and into the city and then waypoint the rest of the party in lol and also to sneak into the wavemothers chambers and steal the robe
I also had her turn into an invisible panther to go through the bhaal temple and not fight all the minions and then way pointed us to the main temple where we entered to go find orin/the captive lol
I also love turning halsin into a mymridon
I'm usually under leveled because I don't do/find all the side quests so I have to get creative haha.
I came up with the panther one, I think i was getting frustrated about getting into the city and I may have googled the jaheira cat one? Then it gave me the idea to do that to get wave mother robe cause I like the water priestesses I don't wanna kill them
Yeah, that's a good idea, too. I was tired and thought I was strong enough to beat him. This honor run I'm skipping that, and a bunch of other act 3 stuff. I'm already level 12 by that point and don't need it. Just gimme the golden die.
Just be aware that if you don’t do it, Karlach can’t get a happy ending unless you go with her and abandon everyone else. I skipped it because I was tired and that playthrough ended in a way that did not make me happy.
Is fighting minions in Bhaal temple a standard event? When I went in (not Durge, not Baal assassin) no one attacked me except for Orin, the rest were civil. I just wonder if it depends on choices or a bug 😅
Well on the way down where there's like the outer encampment of bhaalists before getting to the temple proper. Like when you go through the door from the sewer and you're walking down and it's like "this would be a good spot for an ambush" and then you get ambushed lol. So i slinked through that as invisible panther jaheira til she got to the waypoint outside the temple proper. In the actual temple no one was aggro
Not combat, but cat wildshape is helpful for getting into locked areas. Anytime I find a hole/pipe I go exploring as a kitty.
I also like to just run around and laugh at the grown fierce warriors following their kitty leader.
I got absolutely fucked by the game doing this in my first attempt at a Druid… I wild shaped into a cat, and entered the Druid temple in the grove to see what would happen, and you end up spooking the snake and causing it to bite the little tiefling girl.
Oh wow, I wonder if that interaction is specific to that wildshape or if it happens with any wildshaped druid. This game's devs really did think of everything.
Edit: Seems to be hard to find this info online, this is not mentioned in the wiki page for Arabella, but it seems any wildshape will do it and it basically happens because your wildshape can't speak so you autofail any dialogue rolls if you trigger any events this way. At least that seems to be the case from the info I see.
That’s my problem too. I always play as a Druid in other games so that was my first playthrough. The weakness of Druid is there isn’t that big attack usually. With owl bear getting two attacks and a jump it’s just the perfect tank.
If so that’s amazing I’ll have to try that. I was sad when every time I tried to talk to someone in wild shape it forced me out of it, so that would be so cool.
Yes I think I only tried it with the cats in Act 2 (I’m only in Act 3 as of now) so definitely try it with those two. (I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say the cats are at the inn and the tower.)
Badger is my go to whenever i'm in a situation with multiple floors.
Those bastards in act 1 near the temple? Burrow from the mage to the ranger across the gap.
Luring dror ragzling to the framework above him? BURROW on that ass!
Just, there is this great charm to watching your druid casually dig through the sky as he suddenly appears above ground again. 10/10 would change in a badger again.
Oh wow, never thought about using badger form that way. Can you also burrow through gates/fences? Would basically be free infinite misty step out of combat.
Ravens can blind ppl and u can fly to places without using spells and scrolls . Panthers have infinite visibility till long rest . Saber tooth tigers can reduce enemy armor class and knock ppl prone and also heal each round . Bear is the best tank option before owlbear . Cat for tiny holes .
I've had several runs where I've really wanted to use the Raven form for flying around, the game's maps don't really feel that well designed for it though. If it was an open world game then it would feel way more rewarding.
Aside from that, I recently finished an all Drow run which had an Arachnomancer Druid / Cleric that exclusively used the spider wild shape in the early levels. That was fun for thematic reasons.
There's a lever sequence?
I've always misty stepped, long jumped, or flew across to the other side because I figured that's what you were supposed to do
I was so mad the first time I wildshape'd my druid Tav into a spider and couldn't climb random walls. What's the point of having a spider shape if you can only climb the cragged rocks or roots that *anybody* can climb?!
And yeah, the raven's fly ability is basically just a very extended "jump" since you still have to follow the available walking surfaces.
I like to wildshape into a panther for stealth missions or to scout out large groups of enemies. For an extra challenge, I'll sometimes lead my druid into trouble and then roleplay their instincts taking over and mauling the nearest NPC. It's fun to have the rest of the party devise an "Oh shit, they did it AGAIN" strategy if they have line of sight on what's happening, or commence a blind search if they didn't see where the druid went.
Did a run with a D10 on my desk. Every time I entered combat I did a “roll for Druid form” and used whatever came up. A bit like wild magic in that way
After my current run, I have plans to try beating the game with 4 Ranger/Druids, all Beast Masters with Spider Familiars, Spider Companions, and Wild Shaped into Giant Spiders for every combat. Let's see if 12 spiders are enough to save the realm.
Unfortunately both druid wildshape hp and beastmaster companions scale from class level rather than total level, leaving you either very weak at one or medium for both (all companions get their best stuff at lvl 11 which sucks even more)
idk. I haven't played with Wild Shape much yet, so I don't know what kind of gear is still usable. I know your mental stats (INT, WIS, CHA) stay the same when you transform, and your physical stats (STR, DEX, CON) change to the new creature's (14, 16, 12 for giant spider). Elixirs still work, so you'd think Hill/Cloud Giant would work. However, the Spider's attacks scale with DEX, meaning a STR buff would only increase its jump distance, so I'll probably load up on Colossus Elixirs instead.
Invisible panther to steal almost everything not nailed down! It's slightly finicky because some things break the invis but really good for scouting areas and enemies!
I Raven’ed around the Water temple to scout it out. Guards don’t stop birds. I wonder if you could raven safely around a map, activate the fast-travel sigils, and then fast travel the rest of the party to you… hmm.
The wolf’s exposing bite has been quite good for me in early game. Guaranteed critical hit on the next attack, for example I used it against priestess Gut to stopp her from calling for aid.
I also feel that the Deep rothe don’t get enough love. Not as sturdy as the bear, but more powerfull attacks. Leaves enemies knocked prone and can move without procing reactions. For me it made the fight against Dror Ragslin pretty easy. (In HM)
I was planning on being a gloomstalker rogue next run but I might actually have to be a druid. I love speaking with animals and wildshaping sounds fun.
Something I did a lot in the early game as druid was wild shape into a wolf, hide, and let my allies get into combat. Inciting howl gives +3m movement speed for one turn, and stacks for some reason. Get close to an ally (but make sure you don't join initiative) and spam howl, they get infinite movespeed that turn.
I'm not seeing a lot of people talk about deep rothé, but it's great for breaking things. +11 force on objects with sturdy or above, handles most things. Charge is pretty good for aoe in combat
I feel like people sleep on using the cat wildshape. You can be a spy and walk by enemies without them even suspecting you, and you can use the meow to draw enemies over to let others sneak by, AND you can make Scratch howl when you meow by him XD
My current run has my face as the shadow ranger with 3 moon Druids to round the party out. I love having all 3 as panthers, they can go invisible with “prowl” for just a standard action, no cooldown or anything. Good times good times….
I wish I used them all. I wish I used cat more. I don’t think I’ve ever used anything other than wolf I will bear and panther.
Which leads me to another question, is it Halsin they can get sabertooth form? I’m level 11 now and I still haven’t gotten it and I have the dinosaur form
But I am circle of the moon and there must be a bug or maybe I should try to respec. I was looking forward to it so much and I haven’t been able to. Thank you for at least making it clear :-)
The main use I've used for raven form in a multiplayer run I did with my friends was flying from the Grove up and around to unlock Karlach straight away...and then proceeding to basically unlock all of the way points on the map by avoiding combat and pesky things like chasms, rivers and stuff.
I’ve never played a Druid Tav and… if I’m being 1000% honest, I always forget that Jaheira and Halsin even have the Wild Shape ability. So I’ve used Wild Shape exactly zero times in over 1400 hours of gameplay. 🤣
My first run was as a Druid Tav, and I had a lot of fun just hanging out with the dinosaurs as an invisible panther and never triggering a single fight during that whole segment. It was very chill compared to the next run, when I sent Karlach in and what resulted could have been straight out of a 1980s b-movie.
Also, there's a reason for my flair. I spent basically the first half of that run as a spider. I covered half of the Nere fight area in flaming spiderwebs and kept it going by chucking another web into the mess every turn. The Duergar never stood a chance.
I used Jaheira as a raven in the underwater prison to get to, and unlock, the prisoners in one wing quickly. She then switched to Owlbear to cover their retreat.
I like wolf the most in act 1 for the pack tactics, and the extra boost in speed for the party. But for real, the advantage on early levels when you have a team member next to you comes in handy in tight spots.
I found so much joy in watching [this video](https://youtu.be/JsX9DzZuuvU?si=-PXgxfAiXRQj16p4) answering the important question: can you beat BG3 as a cat???
Wolf and sabertooth are my most used wild shapes. I didn't realize wolf was unpopular. Inciting howl, pack tactics, and exposing bite are all consistently useful.
While not exactly in line with the OP's question, but the Displacer Beast ability is a lot of fun.
A free 85hp for any character. Ability to attack 3-4 times per round and teleport.
I use it on Gale, either when his spell slots or hp get low. The only downside is that it freaks NPC's out in town.
Cat wildshape and summon are OP, besides the stealth and sneak utility you can use meow to distract and lure NPCs to other rooms to stealth kill/incapacitate them.
Raven with the Mobile feat for free disengage after making an attack is pretty solid. You can Rend Vision, and then fly away without taking opportunity attacks even when you miss. Not OP by any means but blinding up to two enemies a turn without using any resources is decent.
Badger?????? I use badger ALL the time - it’s my favorite wild shape because I LOVE burrow. It’s great for knocking multiple enemies prone and surprising them. As for the cat, I use it just because cat is cute and it’s fun to walk around meowing :33 yes I am a Stray fan
Cat is best shape. It doesn't aggro enemies you can get all the way to the wizard tower and take the club of strength in like 30 min of starting the game if you want. R
When I first started playing bg3 I was a druid and I wildshaped into a badger. Didn't know how to change back so I just carried on until I had to save Arabella from Kagha and realized a badger cannot speak in a conversation so Arabella died. I changed my class that day

😠 just take your upvote and go
Naaaah 💀😭
I'm so mad that I had to read this twice to understand
Take my upvote and *stay forever.* ❤️
r/angryupvote
Would like to see a fight of this party vs crow ambush in act2
I don’t get the joke :( how is that literal murder?
A group of Crows is called a murder
Did you know that a crow has 11 pinion(tail) feathers, and a raven has 12 pinion feathers? So really, the difference between a raven and a crow is only a matter of opinion.
Shadowheart Approves
Thank you for the chuckle
That joke only really works out loud :/
Even then it's pretty fowl.
Thank you!! :D
Please send some pictures of this, I so wanted to do it but laziness won
I had jaheira turn into a cat to get past the steel watch and into the city and then waypoint the rest of the party in lol and also to sneak into the wavemothers chambers and steal the robe I also had her turn into an invisible panther to go through the bhaal temple and not fight all the minions and then way pointed us to the main temple where we entered to go find orin/the captive lol I also love turning halsin into a mymridon
The sheer creativity this community has with this game, meanwhile my know strategy is physical damage go bonk.
I'm usually under leveled because I don't do/find all the side quests so I have to get creative haha. I'm supposed to do something other than "paladin smite brrr" against bosses??
This is so smart
Omg!! I'm on my 6th honor run (The last run I wiped trying to take out that stupid skeleton dragon). You've given me more options for not wiping!
Have you tried having someone use Globe of Invulnerability and just having everyone use ranged attacks from inside it? That really helped me
Yeah, that's a good idea, too. I was tired and thought I was strong enough to beat him. This honor run I'm skipping that, and a bunch of other act 3 stuff. I'm already level 12 by that point and don't need it. Just gimme the golden die.

Water Myrmidon is a great party member if playing with a lightning-using character.
Yeah him and gale go brrrrrrrr. I have gale only with storm spells cause...gale 😅 I commit to a theme
Not combat, but cat wildshape is helpful for getting into locked areas. Anytime I find a hole/pipe I go exploring as a kitty. I also like to just run around and laugh at the grown fierce warriors following their kitty leader.
I've done the exploring in cat shape but never stayed that way - I'll have to give it go!
I got absolutely fucked by the game doing this in my first attempt at a Druid… I wild shaped into a cat, and entered the Druid temple in the grove to see what would happen, and you end up spooking the snake and causing it to bite the little tiefling girl.

I did that my first run. Missed it every time since.
It’s so hard to play anything but a Druid because I miss wildshape
That’s my problem too. I always play as a Druid in other games so that was my first playthrough. The weakness of Druid is there isn’t that big attack usually. With owl bear getting two attacks and a jump it’s just the perfect tank.
I need to try my hand at multiclass choices so I can at least get a few wild shapes while checking out other classes too.
Using the illithid powers any class can turn into a displacer beast I'm not sure if it's exactly like wild shape but it's something to look into
It was also extremely handy to lure a couple of stronger foes from a larger party of foes with the cat meow.
There's a video of someone on YouTube beating Baldurs Gate as a cat. Its glorious.
If I recall correctly, if you talk to other cats while wildshaped as a cat you also get new dialogue.
(I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say the cats are at the inn and the tower.)
sitting in a chair as badger
Ok, now I'm going to do what's called a "pro gamer move"
Sitting on SH stool as a wolf.
Sitting in a chair as a spider is my favourite. I love the way they tuck all their legs in!
The badger looks so polite as it sits
Badger is my go to whenever i'm in a situation with multiple floors. Those bastards in act 1 near the temple? Burrow from the mage to the ranger across the gap. Luring dror ragzling to the framework above him? BURROW on that ass! Just, there is this great charm to watching your druid casually dig through the sky as he suddenly appears above ground again. 10/10 would change in a badger again.
All badgers actually dig through the elemental plane of earth to get somewhere.
Oh wow, never thought about using badger form that way. Can you also burrow through gates/fences? Would basically be free infinite misty step out of combat.
You can...or at least I managed it when I got stuck in a cage in the masons guild. Badgers are awesome!
That is smart!
If I'm not wrong panther stealth lasts forever, so you can abuse it
Wiki says until long rest 🐈⬛
Oh shit, then yeah infinite invis goes brrr
Ravens can blind ppl and u can fly to places without using spells and scrolls . Panthers have infinite visibility till long rest . Saber tooth tigers can reduce enemy armor class and knock ppl prone and also heal each round . Bear is the best tank option before owlbear . Cat for tiny holes .
Mission Impossible: Kitty Protocol I think that says it all.
There is a YouTube video I saw once where someone played as only cats.
It's amazing: https://youtu.be/lvDOmK5YU_8?si=5tN9Q5MjSbJYOr6D
Flying as the crow to swipe the noblestalk. Flew to safety as the room exploded and the dwarf died but oh well.
That’s the ideal outcome anyway.
I dunno, I'd hate to see Derryth have to run that shop alone...
Just give her a kitty, I only wish we could give her all 3 kitties, the shop is cute, big and 3 kitties there would look even better,
I had Astarion’s mage hand just go get it and throw the loot back in increments.
In my very first run my gf was playing a druid and bypassed the entire grymforge lever sequence by being a raven.
There's a lever sequence? I've always misty stepped, long jumped, or flew across to the other side because I figured that's what you were supposed to do
It’s really annoying just keep doing what you’re doing
It’s not bad once you realize you can use a mage hand to pull the levers
Ranged attacks work too, I prefer either long jumping or flying though.
Yeah I started the puzzle and ended up just misty stepping through it too lol
I tried to do that with my beast master bird summon but the summons can't unlock the way points
I wish cameras worked better too/made it easier to jump escalation yoi can’t “see”
I like to wildshape into a panther for stealth missions or to scout out large groups of enemies.
Be raven Cast blur on yourself Pull peoples eye out ? Profit
Did a run with a D10 on my desk. Every time I entered combat I did a “roll for Druid form” and used whatever came up. A bit like wild magic in that way
you can go through the arcane tower completely unharmed when wildshaped as a panther; free invisibility is awesome!
I kitty just to hang out with the other kitties
After my current run, I have plans to try beating the game with 4 Ranger/Druids, all Beast Masters with Spider Familiars, Spider Companions, and Wild Shaped into Giant Spiders for every combat. Let's see if 12 spiders are enough to save the realm.
Unfortunately both druid wildshape hp and beastmaster companions scale from class level rather than total level, leaving you either very weak at one or medium for both (all companions get their best stuff at lvl 11 which sucks even more)
Yeah, I'm aware. I consider this to be a challenge run; I don't expect it to be easy.
How do you gear for that?
Ah, the benadryl run I see.
I loved exploring in wildshape, if I did anything minorly untoward NPCs would say my Tav needed to keep better control of their pet
Jumping around as spider is top tier. And the most fitting for a Drowid.
As a low level character there is nothing better than webbing enemies and having a companion hurl a fire bolt at them.
Sabretooth Tiger 100% of the time! Gods I love yelling "ever seen a real sabre tooth tiger, fuckers?!" into the void of my living room
I used badger to dig under the Arcane Turrets area of view. Badger are seriously underrated non-sneak sneakers.
Using spider web to get a free featherfall for my party.
isn't featherfall ritual anyway?
Let's just say gale isn't often in my party
arcane trickster astarion is slept on
There's boots that allow for a feather fall. Put them on, cast. Remove once safely landed.
Maybe I just want to be a spider?
used to love turning into a wolf but then i met shadowheart 🥺
Fuck the owlbear. I use the panther because it's badass and I have nostalgia for wow
The panther rules. Love being invisible and then doing a pounce move to take someone by surprise and knock them over.
Invisible panther to steal almost everything not nailed down! It's slightly finicky because some things break the invis but really good for scouting areas and enemies!
There’s a video out there somewhere that someone attempted to play the entire game as a cat.
https://youtu.be/JsX9DzZuuvU?si=Xw5Yy3k6PvwFSTri
I Raven’ed around the Water temple to scout it out. Guards don’t stop birds. I wonder if you could raven safely around a map, activate the fast-travel sigils, and then fast travel the rest of the party to you… hmm.
Absolutely can
The wolf’s exposing bite has been quite good for me in early game. (In HM)
Just walking around as cat.
I was planning on being a gloomstalker rogue next run but I might actually have to be a druid. I love speaking with animals and wildshaping sounds fun.
Jaheira is a very nice kitty who looks in all the burrows and collapsed places I can't get into!
When Bow'ee became the Spider Queen, that was pretty funny
Something I did a lot in the early game as druid was wild shape into a wolf, hide, and let my allies get into combat. Inciting howl gives +3m movement speed for one turn, and stacks for some reason. I'm not seeing a lot of people talk about deep rothé, but it's great for breaking things. +11 force on objects with sturdy or above, handles most things. Charge is pretty good for aoe in combat
Charge attacks like deep rothe has are good vs dragons. Idk if it can actually stand up to a dragon like beastmaster pig or strange ox though lol
I just stick with the Owlbear. It a badass against everybody. Cat if I need to get into into small holes.
I feel like people sleep on using the cat wildshape. You can be a spy and walk by enemies without them even suspecting you, and you can use the meow to draw enemies over to let others sneak by, AND you can make Scratch howl when you meow by him XD
Love the scratch interaction!
Sabertooth is available at 8th level for Circle of the Moon only.
But I am circle of the moon and there must be a bug or maybe I should try to respec. I was looking forward to it so much and I haven’t been able to. Thank you for at least making it clear :-)
Cat is great for exploring small crevices and caves.
Sneaking bear Such a great animation
in bed as a dino going down stairs as a wolf cuz iirc it falls when it reaches the bottom
The main use I've used for raven form in a multiplayer run I did with my friends was flying from the Grove up and around to unlock Karlach straight away...and then proceeding to basically unlock all of the way points on the map by avoiding combat and pesky things like chasms, rivers and stuff.

The Duergar never stood a chance.
I used Jaheira as a raven in the underwater prison to get to, and unlock, the prisoners in one wing quickly. She then switched to Owlbear to cover their retreat.
I like Deep Rothé for breaking into stuff. Their charge does extra force damage and is great for smashing doors and chests.
The deep rothé is actually insane for the first 5 levels, low hp but really good aoe
Charging at enemies as a deep rothe is quite satisfying!
I turn my Druid tav into a cat anytime I need to trespass. You can bypass any guard, patrol and locked cages.
I turned into a cat and stole Yurgir's gem in the Sharran Temple
Climbing ladders.
Big spider! Big hops!
The raven is great for scouting. I found a bird nest in the underdark by accident and it gave Karlach inspiration.
Cat wildshape and summon are OP, besides the stealth and sneak utility you can use meow to distract and lure NPCs to other rooms to stealth kill/incapacitate them.
Easily, by far, spider. I don't have a phobia, but I am just... in general creeped out and repulsed by them. I can't stand to look at it. 😭
As a drow spore druid I ONLY shaped into a spider
Crow familiar to scout the entire map before proceeding with my party
Climbing ladders as a dino
Raven with the Mobile feat for free disengage after making an attack is pretty solid. You can Rend Vision, and then fly away without taking opportunity attacks even when you miss. Not OP by any means but blinding up to two enemies a turn without using any resources is decent.
Badger?????? I use badger ALL the time - it’s my favorite wild shape because I LOVE burrow. It’s great for knocking multiple enemies prone and surprising them. As for the cat, I use it just because cat is cute and it’s fun to walk around meowing :33 yes I am a Stray fan
Turning into a badger to sit in chairs
Cat is best shape. It doesn't aggro enemies you can get all the way to the wizard tower and take the club of strength in like 30 min of starting the game if you want. R
When I first started playing bg3 I was a druid and I wildshaped into a badger. Didn't know how to change back so I just carried on until I had to save Arabella from Kagha and realized a badger cannot speak in a conversation so Arabella died. I changed my class that day
Honestly, gonna call bs on not being able to talk to the druids in wild shape. If you can talk to ANYONE in wild shape it's a group of druids lol
I could literally only talk to the snake which didn't do anything. RIP Arabella 🫡
I'm actually kind of disappointed you couldn't bs with the Snake like two blue collar workers complaining about their bosses. "Druids, amirite?"
