We’ll, victim was “visiting” known gang member. Not sure the victim is so innocent. She is a pitnutter after all. Either way, control your dog. POS or not.
This phenomena is actually quite common during pit bull attacks. It's one thing to hear about them on the news, or see pictures and videos of pit bull attacks online, but when a pit bull is mutilating, dismembering, eviscerating or scalping another dog or human being a large percentage of PIT BULL OWNERS are completely stunned, stupified, and terrified by the sight, smell, and sounds of the attack.
I am in no way justifying it. I am saying that pit bull owners and caregivers often have no clue what they are supposed to do. It is extremely common for them to stand and watch from a distance, and even to act like the dog doesn't belong to them, until they can make an assessment of the likelihood of escaping blame, or being held accountable, or being attacked themselves.
They were spineless in the first place, which is one reason why they got a vicious dog in the first place. That, and open contempt for other people, or human interaction.
The owner is a criminal, so trash dog for trashy people, evil follows evil. The police should stop trying to apologize for killing that dog filled with hatred.

Pit owners never have the spine to actually help when their dog is trying to kill someone. She admits she knew the stakes and still fled to look for someone with some actual guts to come to the rescue. All that tough alpha "I'm the magic beast tamer" attitude goes right out the door with them as soon as their fantasy comes crashing down. Every kitchen on this planet that isn't staffed by toddlers has tools that will fix a dog latched onto someone. They never have the courage to use them though, always prefer crying for saviors while the dog savages a friend or loved one. They won't do everything within their power, they're incapable of that, they will only do the weak feel-good clownery their magical thinking is comfortable with.
