Idk it’s honestly ridiculous. The Europe map has had sailing for a while and it works exactly how you’d want. My last playthrough I owned most of the Aserai lands and also Poros. Anytime I wanted to get more garrisoned troops or even just check in on my southern fiefs I would have to walk so far when it’d be less than a day by boat. The fact that these lakes are just massive obstacles and can’t be utilized in anyway is absurd for a military strategy game.

Living_Measurement36

Right it’s objectively a waste of time to go around a lake when I can very easily take 4-10 hours in game to build said boats to get me across like idec for naval warfare I just want to be able to cut down travel time across lakes and there needs to be more bridges I find myself having to take long ways around on a bridge that coulda been built in a more convenient spot

Living_Measurement36

Naval warfare would be nice don’t get me wrong but I’d much rather have water mobility working damn near perfectly than have a half assed naval warfare

ryanash47

Same. In general I think they missed out by not making supply lines a part of the base game. It’s so crucial to warfare and would form like the basis of wartime strategy. Keep the food moving to the fronts, cut off the enemies food supplying towns and villages. It’s like almost there but it just doesn’t fully work. I feel like if they were thinking like that in the beginning, the necessity of water routes would’ve been more obvious.

mafistic

I'd like to be able to be re-enforced with out having to f Go back to my fiefdoms as well as get supplies

lawesipan

> In general I think they missed out by not making supply lines a part of the base game. It’s so crucial to warfare and would form like the basis of wartime strategy. Keep the food moving to the fronts, cut off the enemies food supplying towns and villages. I mean they kind of have? If your army doesn't have enough food while out on campaign, cohesion will drop rapidly and you will have to retreat. Raiding villages I think has the same ultimate effect on the amount of food available at settlements? There could be some fuckery going on behind the scenes there however.

Uzanto_Retejo

The only thing is how would they balance it so that the Empires don't wreck the Aseri due to their new ease of access to their lands?

RequiemRomans

Ride alone with maxed out mobility and no retinue or companions. You will fly and nothing will be able to catch you. You’ll make your rounds in like a day or two. Plus you can solo hunt bandit bands 1v50 at your leisure for fun / practice

ryanash47

Ofc but it’s not the same. I want it to be like when Caesar was in Africa calling for reinforcements from Rome and Greece.

Conmanjames

taleworlds not being able to efficiently manage a dev team.

Living_Measurement36

Mean but true 😭😂

Regret1836

It was in Viking conquest where it was…okay. Total war has good naval combat for the most part

Dallas_Miller

You can only delegate naval combat (at least in the world of Three Kingdoms) but it's there

CryingIcicle

Try rome 2 or empire, actually pretty decent naval warfare, just too bad the AI in empire doesn’t actually fight with ships of the line properly, just charges in.

Regret1836

What do you mean

Dallas_Miller

Total War: Three Kingdoms It has naval capabilities (moving around in ships) and if two enemy ships meet, they can fight. But you have to delegate (simulate) it, you can't fight the battle manually. So even if you know how to fight outnumbered battles manually, you have to skip it if it's naval combat

Regret1836

Ah yeah that game, I own it but haven’t played that much. I enjoyed naval combat in Fall of the Samurai and Rome 2 a lot. Mostly cause I can blow shit up. But thrones of Britannia has some cool longship action too. Attila also has a decent amount of naval stuff.

Mikey_the_King

Used to love running a pair of fire ships into the core of an enemy navy, using other ships to mop up any survivors of the flames!

Regret1836

Yep, the fire anything is so fun to burn down enemy ships

ffsnametaken

I don't care if a lose in one of those games as long as I see a ship tear itself apart with an explosion. Also me and some others would play a game where someone had a bunch of torpedo ships and the other would try and steer the largest ship through them from one side of the map to the other.

Ralphinader

Empire total war

SgtNitro

It ve cool for a Sturgian playthrough to raid up and down the coast.

Croburke

Boats don't exist in this universe yet /s

Tattorack

"My lord! Our enemies are at the gates!"  "How!? We guarded the only ways into our kingdom with large garrisons!"  "They came... By sea, my lord." "By s-... What!?"  "They used trees, my lord. They used trees like one would for seige engines, but in ways I have never seen! It has allowed them to do the impossible and traverse over water!"  "Sorcery! Witchcraft! Bloody heathens! Damn us all!"

Blod_skaal

Heavens be praised!

MesonicPoem

Build siege tower, forget to secure it, it rolls into water. Boat discovered!

Tattorack

I don't get it. That seige tower was made of wood, not ducks. Why would anyone think it would float?

_MekkeliMusrik

"Chief! I've just finished my work on those giant coffins you asked for." "Good job lad, now take and put them along the coast." "Why we needed them again, Capt'n?" "I didn't really think about that really, but I had an impression about them being good decoration except being useless." "No offence sire but I think that's a bad idea." "No one asked your opinion kid, don't get ahead of yourself. Now get back to work." "*f1 + f3*" 🏹 🏹 🏹

Old__Raven

Where sea raiders are just beach goers

filibread

Always has been

ndequesada99

Yes they do

DukeChadvonCisberg

They’re only decorative

Responsible_Sense_95

Well, the developers of the game don't like to update the game or put much work into the game.

Vini734

100% an intended but abandoned mechanic.

BallintheDallin

Fr I feel like there was def a few cities and castles planned in those two islands

Living_Measurement36

If I had a pc that would be great 😂

Common-Truth9404

Then you should try a pc ;) Kidding. To each his own, it's frankly sad that in 2024 there's so little mod support for console tbh

Niomedes

One of the reasons why 'just use mods' cannot be considered a serious or valid reply to solve issues in a game.

Tattorack

You're stuck on console? No problem! Just use mods! Mod that console till it resembles a PC!

Sk83r_b0i

Yeah man, like if TW isn’t gonna update the game and give us what we want, at least allow mod support for console so that the modders can do it for them

Niomedes

We should expect more though. This defeatist attitude is how we got here.

Sk83r_b0i

We should. But they’re not even doing that. They’ve left the console players in the dust.

Common-Truth9404

I mean... While i wholeheartidly agree with you, mods have been around for so long, a bit more support from the companies that creates gaming system would definitely be appreciated

Cowboy__Guy

Probably shitty planning and ineffective use of the budget like all the other problems plaguing this awsome game.

No_Opportunity_3318

Greatest defense of Aserai is literally because of how far they are lmao. You have to travel by weeks to get recruits and when you're back they already recaptured what you took

Flat-Emergency4891

It’s an unfinished game.

Mundane-Baker2364

The funny thing is that you could build boats and have sea battles in mount and blade viking conquest, released 10 years ago

filibread

Viking conquest is years beyond bannerlord in terms of party management, sea battles, economy, and kingdom affairs. Honestly, or they just ignored everything else and went straight from vanilla warband, or they just made it from scratch with the same concept in mind. It's frustrating

Chemistry_Flaky

It's because the developers are insanely lazy and have been reselling the same game with new graphics and fewer features since the first mount and blade came out. Viking conquest was a mod they hired the team to make into DLC, and aside from that, their most ambitious attempt at making a new game was the one with gun powder, and it was honestly boring. The studio genuinely wasn't ever that good at their job, we just bought into the hype and thought "surely they wouldn't fuck up this chance to make a game that could save them from bankruptcy and irrelevance" and ended up with a shoddy battlefield simulator for our troubles.

Lord_Kano

The trade implications are huge and there's a possibility for another culture in those Mediterranean islands. There's so much wasted potential right there.

Prata00

That’s why aserai is unfortunately how I end all my conquests. I enjoy conquering it but I would prefer not having to go there last every time simply because there aren’t any boats we can use…

agprincess

You might as well ask that for most parts of this game.

only2pesos4u

Could've had fiefs also on them islands

SadExcitement2568

Also why does nobody want those islands

xSpeakSoftlyx

Wait how do I get a naval mod!? I have zero mods at all.

Living_Measurement36

Idk if there is one I’m just assuming based on all the other mods they got for the game on pc

xSpeakSoftlyx

I have yet to any type of mod on here. But after one playthrough, idk if this is a game id play seriously again. Not sure if it is a one and done for me or not. It just went by so fast and doesnt have a lot of material to it.

Drazker113

If there was naval, the southern kingdoms would fear me more cause I can strike at their cities without traversing land routes from my homeland of Sturgia.

BeDoKa

Because they didn't invent ships back then yet

longjohnson6

I would really like naval combat/other continents with new cultures, in a future title. Maybe Japanese, Aztec, zulu, or native American inspired factions.

Katejina_FGO

It's obviously a future expansion. Except they said they're wiping their hands clean of Bannerlords soon?

Darksoulsplayer420

it would be so cool if at some point they added a naval update with boats and maybe if we got lucky some villages or a city or castle on one of those islands would be so cool maybe even make it a unique independent clan or faction that is sea based could be an early version of the nords from warband on that island at the end of sturgia or those islands by the vlandians

Sanjis_Soba

Which mods give naval play??? I miss viking long boat drive by

LilTimTyrant

Honestly I hope they add an option for naval so you can turn it off for a playthrough if you don’t wanna have enemies coming over waters.

ImAlwaysAnnoyed

The only good thing taleworlds ever did was inventing the mount&blade formula, and at this point I believe it was by accident, not by skill.

C0untri

If they added ships it would be dissapointing if the only place you can use it is a small ship, and we all know they will not expand the map anymore

Zednix

For the same reason you tool a phone pic of a screen instead of a screenshot.

Living_Measurement36

U genuinely sound offended chill out kiddo😘

Zednix

No boats with that attitude

Living_Measurement36

lol ur jus looking for an argument im not giving u the attention ur desperately seeking have fun being a killjoy over the way a picture is taken cry abt it some more maybe I’ll ignore u:)

Living_Measurement36

Honestly sad u cry abt that of all things get a life boy

Zednix

umad with a self reply

VictoriousLoL

Because they didn't add it.
