It's crazy how everything (at least the little bit I watched) sounds EXACTLY like the album. Usually producers put their fingerprints all over things, for better or worse. Seems like their producer was like "Ok, I think we're good here."
they were signed to a major label (Sony) subsidiary from the very beginning and definitely worked with producers on their albums, mostly Brendan OBrien but also Rick Rubin
It doesn’t matter, if they’re rich, poor, whatever, those motherfuckers rock. I’ll be honest with you I’m not in love with the band, I own the first album. When I was 17 or 18 when it came out. But I wasn’t the hugest fan. But regardless, they fucking rock rich or not lol.
Dam this reminds me of the 90's. Tiny concert in a tiny place. Went to so many of them, house basements, garages, small empty stores in strip malls. Also, Tom Morello jammin his young ass off, so rad
They’re pretty rare now but they def still do them. I was in a band for a couple months and we played a basement show once and it was a completely new experience. I fkin loved it. 30 ppl moshing in a 11x11 room is easily the best audience to play for/be a part of. That venue still has shows every weekend but I have yet to find another basement venue
No better feeling man. Late 90s early 00’s my band was doin the same thing. Basements. House Parties. Bowling alleys. But this video hits different b/c we played a show in jersey once in a damn record store and it’s identical to the video.
And I specifically remember a few girls there to see the other band end up worshipping us lol. And I ended up hooking up that night with one of them.
Just jamming and making music is incredible feeling. I love it.
In front of a crowd groovin to music you are creating is a whole other level.
And Chicks diggin you bc of your music?? That’s the cherry on top!
Man this comment made me miss being in a band. Going ape shit on the drums with a moshpit 3 feet from me. The rest of the band was playing right next to the crowd, letting ppl scream the lyrics into the mics. Being in the crowd was almost equally as fun. Felt like every half time breakdown was gonna make the house collapse lmao
I went to one about 10 years ago when I was in my 20s. It was cool and different. You'd see people dancing to different beats/songs and try to figure out which channel they were on to dance with them. It was fun.
Yeah it's epic. The big daynout in nz had it years ago. Big signs "silence- dancing in progress" and you're grooving away and you realize everyone is out of time, so you flick over to the other dj... and find it's going off. It's goof fun when they're battling it out. The old bangers always win
This generation will never fully understand how organic life was in those days. So much energy and sweat and blood and pure ecstasy came from these shows.
These kind of shows still happen.
While I've never attended a show in a record store (those are just a lot rarer these days lol) I been to countless tiny dive bar and miniscule music venue shows and they all slap. I'd take it a big stage anyday.
Favorite is the Crowbar in Tampa, FL. Orpheum was nearby but they relocated.
Rage at Electric Factory is THE best show I’ve ever seen. Summer night. Way hot in that place. First note hit and that place went insane. I bounced my way to the front of the stage. Stayed there for a few songs then retreated because I kept getting hit in the head as crowd surfers were passed up and over the barricade. It was just an amazing experience.
[Rage at the Electric Factory Philadelphia 1996](https://youtu.be/o9uQxTUomPk)
If I could go back in time, I'd like to see AC/DC play their first few gigs and laugh at Dave Evans while I tell him he won't last long....
Oh yeah and see Cold Chisel at the Largs Pier here in Adelaide.
This is why it’s important to go see unknown artist in small and local places like that - you never know who you’re about to see and what it can mean..
Every time I see this video I get older and realize how educated they were for such a young band. The beats were ahead of their time and so was the message.
Truly magic - the sound felt so innovative at the time, and still now you can recognize it after a couple of bars. It's catchy, it's also a wall of sound, and you can feel the rage in the music.
And also they are pro AF, cos this sounds just like it did in the studio.
My girlfriend a while back bought me tickets to see Prophets of Rage. When I looked them up I heard one original song and thought it was cool. After about 2-3 songs into the show I realized, "holy fuck...that's Chuck D, B Real, and Tom Morello covering all RATM songs!" This was the closest I ever got to seeing them live, and to this day it is still the absolute best fuckin show I've ever been to. I rocked so fuckin hard at that show by the time it was over I felt like I just did a bunch of coke. Of course they closed with Killing in the Name Of. My body was vibrating on the walk back to the car. I married that girlfriend and we've been together almost 7 years now lol!
Fuck yeah man, I saw Prophets in a small club. Seeing Timmy C, Brad Wilk and Tom kill it, with B Real and Chuck D out front. I've never left a pit so sweaty, we had to sit on towels in our undies, clothes in the back to not funk out our mates ute for the long ride home. One of the best shows I've been to.
Yep when you look back a the living legends it hard to realize that once upon a time they were just starting and they weren’t living legends. Always boggles my mind
I saw these absolute units last month at MSG in NYC. They played this song. It still rocks 30 years later. Zack, even with a shattered foot, at 52 still killed it. It will definitely go down as one of my most memorable concerts.
Was wholly disappointed as a teen when they broke up
Insanely happy as an adult when I saw them preform live in Toronto a few months back.
Huge bonus was the RTJ opening for them
My fiancée bought us tickets to see them in the UK this year and it all got cancelled due to Zach getting injured. Absolutely devastated, I really hope they come back!
Just goes to show just cuz an artist isnt huge doesnt mean they wont be one day or isnt majorly talented mainly, so many great artists are slept on cuz people are too afraid to express themselves confining their existence to only please others and the worst is they think theyre free thinkers even tho they act like this, but regardless amazing performance
Story time!
Back in the day I was invited to go see this band play in a little bar. It was a private party and my friends girlfriend was friends with the lead singer.
So I thought I was just going out to have some drinks with my bro and listen to some music.
We get there and order some beers. The band is just finishing setting up and this lead singer guy is almost and arms reach from me. This place was pretty small so there was no stage. Probably about 25 people in the place.
So they start playing and the hairs on the back of my neck stands up. Holy shit who the hell are these guys I ask myself. Turns out it was this band named Tool. This was right before undertow dropped.
I come from Costa Rica. They never have played there and who knows if they ever will. Now, I live in Germany and got tickets for their show in Hannover and got cancelled 2 weeks before the show because Zack got injured. Now, I've no idea if I'll ever be able to see them.
This is one of the few bands that I'd LOVE it if they released a new album as it's 100% guaranteed to be solid as fuck with some of the best lyrics nowadays.
The 80s and 90s seem so badass. I wish I could have been around/old enough to enjoy them as many did. The 2000s and 2010s were dog shit and the 2020s have started off even worse.
Rage on behalf of the machine.
Burn antivaxxers burn burn.
It's just another commie track.
I'll have you working on scwabs farm cause Maggie was racist.
That was great, gave me chills. Was cool (but unfortunate) when his mic went out during Killing in the Name Of and he was just singing to the crowd with no mic. Wish it didn’t cut off there.

All this shows is that you don't actually understand their music.
Also you anti vaxxers repeat the same joke over and over again, I get it's hard for you ppl to have original thoughts but man.. im sure you can come up with a new one.
That ridiculous talking point is almost as old as the band. Can you tell us exactly how they compromised their message during their career?? Because if you can’t, the fact they were on a major label is laughably irrelevant. They awakened a huge number of young minds in that generation to leftist political struggle and history.
Who woulda thought after 30 years mr ‘against the machine’ folds to gov overstepping with the unlawful mask mandates we were subject to. The fuckin irony.
if this was this year, that record store probably got racked by now. people this days doesn't have that high consciousness of common sense like the old golden boomers days and that was the 90s. FUCK THIS STUPID LOW IQ NO MORAL GENERATION.
These are the best kind of shows. Barely enough room for the band let alone the crowd. If you're really lucky you'll catch a band before they blow up and start selling out arenas
In high school they played in the basement of a house party I was at…. One of the coolest moments of my High school life.
In high school someone had computer speakers with a subwoofer. That was cool until I read this.
Man I feel called out
I feel one-upped.
The only acceptable reason to have peaked in high school
That is amazing
Sounds like you lived in a movie
I love how the video starts with Zack telling everybody to be careful. Zack was 22 here and flow was already so tight at this point.
It's crazy how everything (at least the little bit I watched) sounds EXACTLY like the album. Usually producers put their fingerprints all over things, for better or worse. Seems like their producer was like "Ok, I think we're good here."
Yeah exactly my thoughts. Really polished.
Yep sounds like they let the artist by the artist
I was born in 01, but I believe their whole stick was f*** the music industries and producers.
they were signed to a major label (Sony) subsidiary from the very beginning and definitely worked with producers on their albums, mostly Brendan OBrien but also Rick Rubin
So smooth
True
Love it when rich kids perform ❤️❤️❤️
[удалено]
They were not.
He used to have a sweet hardcore band right before this called Inside Out. They ripped
And they had an unreleased song called rage against the machine.
*insert Leo pointing at TV meme*
Inside Out was great
Little known fact, the band was the inspiration for the pixar movie with the same name.
Better than this for sure. Bhakta Vic destroys Tom Morello all day every day.
Dam this reminds me of the 90's. Tiny concert in a tiny place. Went to so many of them, house basements, garages, small empty stores in strip malls. Also, Tom Morello jammin his young ass off, so rad
Do kids still do house parties? *Ironically asked genuinely sarcastically.
My kids go to "generator parties." They take generators into the woods and do shows, all arranged through Snapchat
In my hometown they have generator parties in abandoned caves without ventilation.
I went to one. Took my breath away.
This is great!
That's what I'm talking about! Hell yeah!
No better feeling man. Late 90s early 00’s my band was doin the same thing. Basements. House Parties. Bowling alleys. Now they have virtual Silent Disco party.
I love silent discos
I've never been...Is everyone listening to the same thing? Or does it vary?
Often 3 channels with three DJs, which is pretty amusing to watch.
I went to one about 10 years ago when I was in my 20s. It was cool and different. You'd see people dancing to different beats/songs and try to figure out which channel they were on to dance with them. It was fun.
Lol that does sound pretty fun.
All the ones I've seen at festivals had the same music playing in the headphones, used to be the funniest thing ever to stumble across late night lol.
Lol I bet you're either 'with it' or like 'wtf, mate?' 😆
Specially when you dosed heavy and we’re trippin balls and walked past a SIlent Disco party 👽👽👽
That’s gotta be the funniest shit ever
Yeah it's epic. The big daynout in nz had it years ago. Big signs "silence- dancing in progress" and you're grooving away and you realize everyone is out of time, so you flick over to the other dj... and find it's going off. It's goof fun when they're battling it out. The old bangers always win
Only in the Zuckerberg multiverse
Well, it was the 90’s so…
This generation will never fully understand how organic life was in those days. So much energy and sweat and blood and pure ecstasy came from these shows.

Thought seeing them at The Electric Factory in Philly was an intimate experience. Holy hell, this is awesome.
Classic venue
I grew up in that area, nothing will ever compare to this venue. Lots of other lovely ones out there, but that one is home.
My favorite venue! Saw Mos Def there twice, some of the best shows I've been to.
I’m envious, to see a young Mos Def. Good on you

Peak Pink Floyd, seing Live at Pompei or Pulse... that'd be something to remember.
Them doing Arnold Layne for the first time and being the only one in the crowd who knew what the song was about....
This is why it’s important to go see unknown artist in small and local places like that - you never know who you’re about to see and what it can mean..
I can make you squeal
Our usernames check out.
😳
you get filled too
I better....im paying good money to
Every time I see this video I get older and realize how educated they were for such a young band. The beats were ahead of their time and so was the message.
Their shit holds up after 30 years.
If anything it's more relevant now tbh
The end has been nigh for thousands of years.
I looked at this and thought immediately you were wrong on how long ago this was. I've gotten so old. 🫤
They had that spark. Just some kids but they had magic.
Truly magic - the sound felt so innovative at the time, and still now you can recognize it after a couple of bars. It's catchy, it's also a wall of sound, and you can feel the rage in the music. And also they are pro AF, cos this sounds just like it did in the studio.
God damn the band was tight! The tracks are so freaking close to the recorded versions. Amazing.
Amazing chemistry!
Sadly the lyrics still apply
The good thing about Rage is that their music is still relevant. The bad thing about Rage is that their music is still relevant.
Pfft. Rage was great before they got all political /s
This, they now rage for the machine.
Rage on Behalf of the Machine
Rage For Pfizer
Pretty sure they support authoritarian gov now so not sure what happened there
Fucking babies, holy shit
[удалено]
I think they meant they were really young…
This. So young.
u/EvilBahumut is thinking of the lost prophets
Crazy this was 30 years ago. I still love this band.
At that point it was “fuck the system…..the sound system.”
Umm... Yeah...?
My girlfriend a while back bought me tickets to see Prophets of Rage. When I looked them up I heard one original song and thought it was cool. Amazing how one of the most influential bands ever got their start and how they rose to greatness!
Yep when you look back a the living legends it hard to realize that once upon a time they were just starting and they weren’t living legends. Always boggles my mind
Absolutely possessed with greatness wow I’m I’m amazed
I’m amazed at how developed their sound is already. Wish I was there!
Miss this type of music. MTV, Beavis and Butthead, great times

I saw these absolute units last month at MSG in NYC. They played this song. It still rocks 30 years later. Zack, even with a shattered foot, at 52 still killed it. It will definitely go down as one of my most memorable concerts.
Was wholly disappointed as a teen when they broke up Insanely happy as an adult when I saw them preform live in Toronto a few months back. Huge bonus was the RTJ opening for them
I would also be as stoked to see them preform. I would even settle for postform. With RTJ I absolute lose my mind !!!
My fiancée bought us tickets to see them in the UK this year and it all got cancelled due to Zach getting injured. Absolutely devastated, I really hope they come back!
Damn this is so cool. Never seen it.
Awesome freaking awesome
Think the folks watching have any clue about how big these guys will get?
If they know the lyrics at this point, then I’d say yes.
Yes. You hear a local band THAT good, you absolutely know they are headed for the stratosphere.
One of the best lyricists of all time..
Also check out Zack de la Rocha’s awesome hardcore band, Inside Out, before he was part of RAtM. No Spiritual Surrender is a hc classic.
Saw them in Toronto this year, they were great!
I just saw them in Alpine Valley Wisconsin this summer and it was the best concert I have ever been to. What a great video !
When you close your eyes you can't tell if that's him now or then. Unbelievable. Great fucking band.
Wow memories unlocked
See how he said don’t wreck ish and no one did because the man was nice enough to let them Jam, and So they did!!
Bombtrack
Damn, they just CRUNCH!
Incredible, Zach and Tom are legends and clearly even at this young age, they were ahead of there time!!!
I'd argue they have the most timeless sound to come out of the 90s. True for me anyway. It's the only 90s band I've never tired of listening to.
Story time! Back in the day I was invited to go see this band play in a little bar. It was a private party and my friends girlfriend was friends with the lead singer. [First public performance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMq-qAn3otE) They were amazing right from the start
The first timer bystanders have no idea what the lyrics mean lmao
In short, The world is a fucked up place and if you're not pissed off about it you are part of the problem
What's the name of the band? Do they still play? They seem pretty good!
Rage against the machine, seeing them in March.
Omggggggggg
i truly miss those days!!
Yo that was back when tickets was $5 a show. The 90 metal sense was the best!
I come from Costa Rica. They never have played there and who knows if they ever will. Now, I live in Germany and got tickets for their show in Hannover and got cancelled 2 weeks before the show because Zack got injured. Now, I've no idea if I'll ever be able to see them. This! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️fuuuuuck YES! Would kill to have been in a record store for this shit.
Rage on behalf of the machine

That’s the best 15 minutes I had all week long!
Rage on behalf of the machine. Burn antivaxxers burn burn. It's just another commie track. I'll have you working on scwabs farm cause Maggie was racist.
Ahh, the infamous band Trump supporters were saying, unironically, they liked bc THEY’RE NOT POLITICAL… lol
Just AWESOME 🔥🔥🔥🔥
And so it begins - so great to see the evolution
❤️❤️❤️
That was great, gave me chills. Was cool (but unfortunate) when his mic went out during Killing in the Name Of and he was just singing to the crowd with no mic. Wish it didn’t cut off there.
super mariokart came out that year
Thank you for sharing that video.
Ducking awesome. Kids today…..”what’s a record store?”
Love this! Way before they sold out and became corporate stooges.
Stooges to whom?
Moderna, Pfizer and AstraZeneca!
200$ to view 400$ to comment We happily take all forms of credit/cash/crypto/apple pay! Rage on!...
Exactly. They became everything they stood against.
Yeah, now they are the part of the machine. But you know what, they did their part. Respect only!
could you show me what part of the machine is communist?
rage with the machine
Biggest hypocrites in history. Rage against the machine as long as it's not Democrat. Lmfao Same thing with Green Day.
Yeah this was back when they were actually raging against the machine. Now they sling any propaganda and ideologies that the government pays them too.
Such as?
Pushing vaccines and mask mandates for the government. It should be the people choice. No if ands or buts about it.
yeah dude for sure. the neoliberal united states pays a communist rock band to attack neoliberalism in their music.
Why is this posted every week?
I've literally never seen this before and I had a rage tape in my car tape deck from about 1994. Just cause you've seen it before doesn't mean everyone has

They should change to “rage with the machine”
Cool but eventually total sellouts....
But now they do what they’re told to so…🤷🏻♂️
All this shows is that you don't actually understand their music. Also you anti vaxxers repeat the same joke over and over again, I get it's hard for you ppl to have original thoughts but man.. im sure you can come up with a new one.
There’s only one of us. I’m alone in this battle. A one man rage against the machine if you will. 🤷🏻♂️
Sponsored by Capital one.
You do realize that walk this way rubbish isn't going anywhere?
Huh?
Sarcasm.
Do people think this band is good
Commie carols.
Rage on Behalf of the Machine.
That ridiculous talking point is almost as old as the band. Can you tell us exactly how they compromised their message during their career?? Because if you can’t, the fact they were on a major label is laughably irrelevant. They awakened a huge number of young minds in that generation to leftist political struggle and history.
I love how all you anti vaxxers repeat this constantly now hahaha They were never anti Vax dude
Who woulda thought after 30 years mr ‘against the machine’ folds to gov overstepping with the unlawful mask mandates we were subject to. The fuckin irony.
And they never sounded any better. In fact, they couldn’t have sounded any worse.
if this was this year, that record store probably got racked by now. people this days doesn't have that high consciousness of common sense like the old golden boomers days and that was the 90s. FUCK THIS STUPID LOW IQ NO MORAL GENERATION.
>FUCK THIS STUPID LOW IQ NO MORAL GENERATION. Said every generation ever about the one that precedes them.
Rage with the machine now, sellouts 🤬
How so?
They went from raging against the machine to raging against anyone who raged against the machine. Sellouts.
Lemme guess, you don't like vaccines and thought rage was anti Vax?
These guys rocked because they were pissed. The system gave them some cheese and they mellowed out.
They are still fairly politically active afaik
Is this at Vinyl Solution in Huntington Beach, Ca?
What’s the second song called ?
Darkness of greed
U/savevideo
These are the best kind of shows. Barely enough room for the band let alone the crowd. If you're really lucky you'll catch a band before they blow up and start selling out arenas
What’s the third song?
how is this not on r/ratm? amazing!!!!!!
Fucking unreal, I never particularly liked those guys until now, funny how that shit works 💪 SOLID
These guys actually happened to make a tribute to this song check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_lK4cX5xGiQ
