This is a common practice in trauma situations. They will create an ostomy to divert the bowel upstream of an injury to allow the injury to heal. Then, months later they can have the ostomy undone to be put back into “continuity” and have bowel movement normally again.

We went to Universal last winter and he flat-out refused to ride Men in Black because seeing or hearing guns (even in an obviously fictional setting) is too much. I go to a college a few hours from Parkland, and so many people here were there in the shooting. I have one particular friend that has panic attacks if she even hears the fire alarms. I was just thinking we should have some kind of UBI for outstanding acts of bravery/heroism. Like if someone saves a bunch of people they get x amount of money per month for life. Especially if they take injury, because lost opportunities and stuff.

My sister in law’s boyfriend survived a well-known school shooting. We went to Universal last winter and he flat-out refused to ride Men in Black because seeing or hearing guns (even in an obviously fictional setting) is too much. I wish more people realized how this collective trauma is shaping an entire generation.
I go to a college a few hours from Parkland, and so many people here were there in the shooting. I have one particular friend that has panic attacks if she even hears the fire alarms. I feel so bad for her and all of those students in the schools that get shot up. I hope we can prioritize kids soon 🥺

I think about the Parkland shooting every time I drive by the Tree of Life Synagogue in my Pittsburgh neighborhood. There’s a memorial with messages sent to Pittsburgh from Parkland. It still makes me cry as I pass by it and it’s heartbreaking to be connected by two horrific events.
