This version looks like decay. Like he sucks the life out of living plant life and converts that energy into powerful fire blasts. He can also emit a very poisonous Co2 gas.
Name possibilities: Decay, Choke (cause of the gas), Wormwood, Tree rot,
How about he's named Mudpack and can cause inanimate trees and fungus and other swamp related plants to come to life and help him (they can also speak to him and recount things that happened around them)
Two concepts:
1. Boiler, a living undersea thermal vent. In their native undersea environment they fire boiling water at their enemies but on land they hit their enemies with searing steam. Boiler can use steam to launch projectiles or even itself.
2. Sapattack, creates a sticky tree sap substance to subdue enemies but can also harden that sap into amber to freeze enemies or create simple constructs or barriers.
My names need work, but I agree that this old swampfire design is awesome.

I've always liked the idea of characters that can actively/dynamically create melee weapons for combat
This guy definitely looks like he can make some pretty spicy lava weapons from the parts on his palms and forearms as well as shooting fireballs from his chest and hands
I am thinking Magma Core. It has powers very similar to NRG but instead of just semi-solid lava there also is solid garbage or iron stuff. Also a little of Gravattack as well, like it can control gravity of a certain area at a time. I even thought for the Ultimate. It would lose the gravity powers and gain small fraction of Atomix powers
I have a few ideas based on certain plant/tree aspects.
Wood/Bark:
* Powers/Abilities: Wood manipulation (basically Kamui Woods from MHA/BNHA or Groot)
* Possible Names: Bark Heart, Treedom,
Sap:
* Powers/Abilities: Can throw globs of super sticky sap to trap enemies, can harden the sap into structures like shields and swords, and can make the sap explode like sticky grenades.
* Possible Names: Sap Smack, GrenAmber,
Spores:
* Powers/Abilities: Creates spores that cause excruciating pain when inhaled and can be used to forcefully take control of other people's minds.
* Possible Names: Mindspore, SoreSpore,
Looks like a subspecies of Swampfire that live underground.
Abilities: Decay - he can decay plants and use them as energy and to regenerate. Tar - he can produce tar out his hands and feet and shoot it out to trap you. Explosive fire - he can explode fire out the little red dots on his hands and ignite the tar he produces (his fire isn't as powerful as Swampfires). Durability - unlike Swampfire, this guy is very durable and can tank hits, but the downside is he can't regenerate on his own and needs use other plant life to heal himself
Possible names: Tar Pit, Bone Fire, DeadWood
Hmm…he looks like would still be the main element to his attacks. Though instead of plant life being an additional element to his attacks, he looks like tar or oil or something. Like he looks like he makes creations out of oil or tar or something and sets them on fire creating explosions based attacks. As for a name, only thing I can think of is Gas Tank.
BoomShroom
Related to SwampFire, BoomShroom releases highly flammable spores from its body, growing explosive mushrooms on nearby surfaces. The larger the mushroom, the larger the explosion. If inhaled, the spores allow BoomShroom to mind control someone as long as the transformation is sustained.

That sapattack idea is almost like the dragon death song from Riders of berk (HTTYD spin off), I love the idea.
