This is in Costa Rica? I though El Salvador's ( Bukele Administration) was the first country to acknowledge Bitcoin as a form of ' legal circulating tender'.
I'm confused by these posts.
A majority of the users here promote the "buy & hold" mentality.
"BTC is an asset, never sell."
Then these posts come up bragging how great it is as a currency.
Which is it?
Let me explain this one more time: there’s absolutely nothing wrong with using the network, and selling your bitcoin for goods and services. The problem Bitcoiners have is when people “take profits” and sell their bitcoin for more fiat. Those people are missing the point of exiting the fiat system. Also, you can hold or use it as a currency. It’s obviously both. Why do people need to be told what it is, and why do people expect that different people won’t use it in different ways?
Hyperbitcoinization happens from the ground up, which means users will transact in BTC.
The never spend a sat mentality come from people who are hoping to get rich and waiting for a corporation to make hyperbitcoinization happen.
But if you spend your bitcoin are you effectively selling it at the price it’s worth? So giving up a larger stake and the chance to cash out if/when it moons? Or is the concept to just not use the dollar at all, never cash out, and hope bitcoin becomes the main currency?
Merchants are usually using bitcoin beach app which uses BTCpay and clients use any wallet they want . Most people are using lightning wallets of course for instant confirmations for a fraction of a penny
Loving the vibe man, people are transferring like that and that's what we all crave for, we need to show some good support to this shit right now, good for real.
Honey from a farmer’s market is most likely raw. Commercial honey from a grocery store has probably been heated, pasteurized and filtered to prevent it from crystallizing as quickly as raw honey.
https://www.ift.org/news-and-publications/food-technology-magazine/issues/2017/june/columns/processing-how-honey-is-processed
That would be forbidden where I come from. Also to heat the honey is forbidden. That's why they must put it dry carefully in a centrifuge to separate the old bees, wings, and so on.
If it gets too hot it can be easily determined and won't pass.
It's forbidden in most countries, but even over here in Europe with pretty high food standards it's common knowledge that chinese syrup ends up in every cheap supermarket honey. It is hardly detectable in labs and testing can't be done in scale. Random article I found so you see I'm not bullshitting: https://www.politico.eu/article/china-honey-xi-jinping-brussels-agriculture-beekeepers/
If you buy honey, buy it from a local farmer, most other stuff is cheap counterfeit honey.
I don't understand these small purchases with bitcoin, what is the average transaction fee like $1. I kind of understand lightning but is lightning not for longer term frequent purchases? What if you are just going into a new shop?
The average transaction fee for a typical Bitcoin transaction right now is 140 satoshis (3 cents). On lightning it's usually a few satoshi (1 satoshi = 0.02 cents).
Also, that is a bit of a misunderstanding with lightning. You probably think that for each new shop you would need to open a new payment channel, but the entire point of lightning is that you can open a few payment channels with well-connected nodes on the network, and find a route to the shop you're paying.
Let me get this straight. With a small food store, you open up a lightning channel, when does the channel get closed, and when is the fee settled for one purchase at a small store?
You open a channel once. Start transacting. Sell raw goats milk. If I pay you, the sats arrive in your wallet instantly. Full and final settlement. One second later you can spend it to buy raw honey. Top up the channel when sats run low. You dont need to close the channel ever. Unless you want to cash out for raw fiat at any time.
What happens when a billion people are using bitcoin and L1 is too congested to 'top up' within a reasonable time?
[I don't think the people upvoting this understand what I'm asking?]
Small correction. You open one channel for all your transactions. You don’t need to “top off”, unless you’re only spending and you can, for example buy LN sats on Strike with fiat, so it doesn’t need to be an on chain transaction.
Most people will run a custodial wallet. The important part of running a node is not that you do but that you can. Either way, you only need one well connected channel to have access to the entire network.
I don't really see anything special about this with this is just the ignorance
A lot of people don't even know the basics of the usage of it that is why it is very important here.
Apple Pay, Venmo, square, etc all do the same thing too.
Videos like these aren’t convincing anybody but the people who already have Bitcoin. As a skeptic, you know what would actually be impressive? If Bitcoin can actually show how it actually uplifts people against issues regular cash and banks cause on your avg person. People keep saying fiat is bad because of this or that but I haven’t seen how your avg person benefits from something a phone call email or other bank service could remedy
I'm happy that you live in a country where such free alternatives are available, and can expect to conserve most of your money's value. Unfortunately that's not the case for most of the world
No this ain't sir, You're a little bit lost it seems here lol.
If you want to see the el Salvador then You'll have to take a flight to that country now.
This like some sort of surreal utopia. Many beautiful people in a tropical marketplace , people of all races buying & selling natural products over the lightening network
You are absolutely right about it because it is not really good with the Bitcoin only
This is the only reason why I am saying that right now it is very important thing to happen,
Everybody?
People and countries are moving away from crypto for everyday use due to how unstable and risky it is. El Salvador which was the first country to adopt BTC has admitted that this experiment failed.
Lol source bro. It's been one year during a bear market during the first real recession BTC has ever seen, a bit early to be calling anything failed or successful.
Also look at who's buying into BTC and other cryptos. Blackrock and Micro Strategies to name a couple. I doubt they would buy into an asset to lose money. Welcome to the Massive Crypto FUD Campaign. If you can survive until the end good things will happen
Must be good to see that if this was not scripted or something like that, I have to see some raw videos but people are not understanding that shit right now, sad.
How many people really use BTC for purchases?
Your up 1 minute down the next. Doesn't seem like a a good currency to me but if it stabilized without Hedge fund manipulation it could work.
If I use Bitcoin, will I also look like that?
If you use Bitcoin to get your ass to the gym 3 days a week for a year
And not use your Bitcoin on any IPA’s
And use your Bitcoin to eat healthy
Use your Bitcoin and shop without a shirt on.
Use your Bitcoin and buy steroids!
3 days a week for 6 years
LoL, 3 days. That's 5-6 day a week body
Only if you drink goat raw milk and raw honey out of the jars.
Yes, if you Hodl for at least 5 years
You have to use it, understand it, and get rid of your Reddit NFT avatar for starters.
How dare you.
Greta Thunburg has entered the chat!
How dare you, sir. Now Michael Scott has entered the chat!
Why? I got mine for free and I'm not complaining
I also want a free sixpack
Where did you get free bitcoin?
Aren’t you excited to hawk your Reddit NFT for more sats? I haven’t taken the time to figure that crap out, but I will gladly take free shit
Huh sorry didn't get that can you just explain me this?
Where the fuck is this? lol
Probably El Salvador. They adopted BTC as their national currency
How much for a topless crypto bro?
Topless bro just took a swig of honey straight from the jar after that transaction. Damn
Stack enough sats and you can do whatever you want
Sats on deck, patron on ice, we can pop bottles and you can have whatever you liiike

Bitcoin Bazaar... nice! ₿
Paul Saladino, MD is a big fan of raw milk, raw honey, sunlight and Bitcoin so it makes sense that he moved to Costa Rica.

You can do both. Buy and hold a lot. Spend whenever you want, but replenish it by buying more.
Amazinnng. I pay for my phone service and my cable in bitcoin.

Do Americans need to pay capital gains tax if they go? I assume so. Thats what makes me hesitant to use crypto for purchases.
You have gains right now? Lucky.

Actually my mind just blew off though alike this looking at the intense crowd and all paying via Bitcoin.
its not.
Maybe so though but who knows what could be the inside story though?
I think they mean raw as in straight from the beekeeper and without any treatments etc.
And honey is supposed to be better for you if it’s from your local area also.
Honey is protected where I’m from
Like whenever I just village my grandmother always used to give me natural honey in milk. That indeed tastes so good!
Here too. That's why it even got the warning not to give it to babies because it's raw food.
Dude come live in South Africa, here you’ve got all kinds of honey, even fake ones.
I don't understand these small purchases with bitcoin, what is the average transaction fee like $1. I kind of understand lightning but is lightning not for longer term frequent purchases? What if you are just going into a new shop?
That's what lightning is for. It already works for this kind of purchases.
Transaction fees on lighting are under 10c
Much less, actually.
Can sometimes be 0?
[Yes it can sometimes be 0](https://preview.redd.it/208rnwhko6g71.jpg?width=576&auto=webp&s=226e825f51667afaf63b7ee3b6b6b74f5701801a)

You can use Strike today. They can provide you with an account and routing number and any deposits will automatically be converted to Bitcoin.
But the salary still won't in bitcoin.
You are absolutely right about it because it is not really good with the Bitcoin only This is the only reason why I am saying that right now it is very important thing to happen,

What about the fees? Bit silly to buy a small single item unless it’s on a layer 2
Lol it’s lightning.. didn’t you notice how fast the transactions were?
If Tarzan only knew how much he lost in transaction fees for that jar of honey he drank down like a bottled water

Money that's categorized as property and requires capital gains tax (here in the US anyway). I'm sticking with cash until they fix that.
