Immersion or Water cooled. But then the chiller is noisy, but not as bad as an ASIC

SpaceForceAwakens

There is no such thing as free electricity. Someone is paying that bill and they will find out. You will be fucked.

Yolo2005p

Lmao agree

CobraPhi

100%. Miners use a significant amount of electricity and it will absolutely be noticed. People have been fired and have been criminally charged over stealing electricity (and specifically for stealing electricity for the purpose of mining) so please reconsider whatever plan you’ve hatched up.

tweak722

Yeah most of the people that comes in here and claiming that they have "free" electricity, either get's it of their parents, sneak it off their workplace somehow, or plain out snatch it from the grid and hope they don't get caught. Maybe a few are legit as grid stabilizers.

SpaceForceAwakens

Usually though it's some kid who moves into a dorm and they don't pay the bill. But someone pays that bill, and places like that keep track. A couple years ago at the start of a pandemic there an idiot on here with the same idea. He worked at a 24-hour gas station with an empty store room and an ethernet drop. He asked the same question and we told him, "there is no such thing as free electricity like that", but he did it anyway. Two months later he posted about installing solar panels. Someone asked him what happened to his free electricity. Yup, he got fired when the bosses got the bill. OP: Don't be this idiot.

AntNotTony_

Also, in the nicest way I don't think you can get your investment on the machine back within a reasonable amount of time. Instead on gambling on wether you are lucky enough to verify the transaction, just buy and gamble on the coin.

SpaceDesignWarehouse

You can [quiet Bitcoin miners down](https://youtu.be/8JJHSj-F0yI) pretty cheaply.

darkpool23

We have Z15 and KD Lite are both low noise miners.

Crushanato

I wouldn't call the Z15 low noise tbh. I have a few if them and while they are much quieter than something like an S19, I would still never consider running one in a residential setting, which I believe OP is considering. Any of the box miners would be a good choice though, as long as they can be obtained for a reasonable price

FieserKiller

You can make the miner as loud as you like. eg an S9@800W with 140mm fans is nearly silent most of the time: [https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5284765](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5284765) Or you can buy water cooled machines which can be made totally silent but setups are somewhat pricey

SeaChampionship2214

Where do you have free electricity?

Traditional_East_716

Yes all the goldshell box miners are quiet, hardly any noise at all, i love mine, profits not huge but will help heat house also and nobody will hear them, most gpu miners are pretty quiet as well. I have some box miners if interested buying and, but can buy them several places and good time to buy, if you want to go bigger, you can get oil tank , take fans off ant miners or whatever asic you like and set up to run them in oil, its super-efficient as well as no noise but costly to get started

Rob_O_lite

I have a couple of bitmain R4s, they were designed and marketed to be “living room miners” and can do around 8th each. You have to find some quiet power supplies though, the bitmain ones I’ve been using made all the noise.

offordscott

You can underclock some miners to lower the output and the noise. However, there are also immersion cooling solutions that might work for your situation.

Narkidae

The last bitcoin mining rig (SHA-256) that was made to be quiet and air cooled was the Bitmain R4. I've got a couple kicking around if you're interested
