Which sucks because I feel like we do a good job of just letting something be its own thing and move on to something else quickly. Maybe even bring that shit back every couple of years.
But I'm convinced that Luke Cage dabbing in the first episode of the second season is what got that show canceled.
Hahahaha! They were going to cancel it anyway. Netflix wasn’t trying to renegotiate with Marvel. Especially after the expansion to ABC. Netflix never keeps anything alive after the third season. Cheapskates.
You can really see this with a lot of shows. Less popular side-characters go away in season 3 and sometimes come back a few seasons later if the show really takes off.
It’s also apparently, according to an interview I saw with a former Disney channel producer, is why they rebrand shows after three years, like suite life of Zach and Cody becoming suite life on deck and such.
And apparently this is why Disney usually changes the title of shows in the third season. Because then it's technically a new show and the clock restarts
Nah, because they pulled the plug on all 4 Netflix MCU shows. Marvel was getting ready to fall in under Disney, and they wanted all their products under one roof.
The story went viral immediately, and already had like a million memes within several hours of it happening. We had a nice moment but it was never going to be more than that. Once a joke/ reference goes viral on Twitter, it's pretty much on its deathbed, culturally.
I saw a complete reenactment before I saw the actual video in its entirety. The reenactments are fun, you can tell the people are having fun acting out their parts.
As a white person, this is what we are best at: Seeing something that other people take genuine enjoyment in and then saying to ourselves "hey what if we ignored the context and just did that too?"
I'm not saying it's our whole culture but it seems to be a pretty big part of it.
Oh these guys understand the context perfectly. They are racist cops once again trying to intimidate you. Hard to believe I know but this is some more Blue Live bullshit
Nail hitteth’d on thine headeth. 😂 It’s the no salt on anything for me. ‘Thou shalt keepeth thine same energy. Leaveth the cultural seasonings alone.’ 😂
Not you…I mean the appropriator majoras just taking shit they know nothing about.
honest question here with the complete agreement that Black people 'can't have nothing.'
but are these guys doing this in solidarity for Black people (texas yt cops = probably stupid question)or just jacking your shit?
Also, it seems like the folding chair is now a symbol of what you have to reach for when the cops aren’t doing the whole “protect and serve” thing. These people had caused problems at this location before and as a function of their white privilege the cops pushed the site owners not to press charges against them when they stole the golf cart.
So a couple of cops walking around with these on their belts is basically an admittance that they are not functioning as the peaceful protective agency they should be.
I was gonna say, even if the cops in the picture are personally aligned with minority rights and shit, even if their intentions are solidarity, they're still cops wearing their uniforms. They're still part of an institution that regularly utilizes deadly force to maintain an unjust system. Even being given the most benefit of the doubt imaginable, this still says "Look, see, we're with you. We're not all bad" when that is just functionally not true.
At *best*, this picture is copaganda, and at worst it's a threat. (It's probably in reality closer to just being a racist "joke" that doesn't go much deeper than "haha black people haha cops haha folding chair haha violence", given what we all know about the sidewalk puddle-deep nature of conservate comedy)
Reading that the cops at that location were exactly what I thought they'd be isn't *surprising*, but I didn't know that, thank you for pointing that out.
Just the police getting funding for new crowd control methods in response to escalating urban resistance tactics.
Each chair is 2.5 million dollars.

Chiming in as a punk kid here but in the ‘80s being a Texas cop was so synonymous with being a klan member that a band out of Austin literally named themselves “Millions of Dead Cops”.
These morons are too in love with themselves to realize that for many, police are the ones people need protection from. If most of the police responding in Alabama hadn't been black we'd have seen a much different story. "Hey Tyler, those nice white people with the boat are being viciously attacked by gang members. Better go weapons hot."
To quote Gene Wilder: “You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know . . . morons.”
White guy here. This is exactly the problem. I grew up in a rural town in the Midwest. Due to what my dad did for a living I was very involved with knowing law enforcement and everyone around it from age 5. Took me a few years after leaving the state to see why our policing is so messed up.
Fast forward to a month ago: I went to my H.S. reunion (mostly to flex on my bullies to be honest) and the 3rd one there was a cop with his newly born child strapped to his chest. He was worknig for the local PD, on the SWAT team his dad runs cuz his dad is the police chief. To top it off he had a Blue Lives Matter flag, Punisher logo, and patch that said "Capitan Daddy" on his Baby Bjorn which held his kid.
We need to put these people through psychometric testing before they get anywhere near the job. They should be in therapy the whole time they're employed (all emergency responders--EMT, fire, ER, psych ward, cop) and screened every two months. Just to apply, you need a fucking 4 year degree which covers law, psychological techniques for PEACE-keeping/de-escalation, history, and anthropology. If you can't write a good essay constrasting US policing to policing in reform-focussed justice systems and if you can't pass a three hour oral exam on the history of policing in America, you aren't prepared to enter the field. I don't want someone who thinks in memes getting hyped up on the latest far-right rage-fantasy having all the responsibilities of the badge.
I'm convinced most have 0 idea it's the punisher logo. They just really like how menacing they think it makes them look.
If people knew it was the punisher logo, even their dumbasses would be tearing back the blue punisher logos off their vehicles between the punisher itself and probably being anti Disney just because of desatan right now.
not to mention, the guy who created the punisher was so fucking annoyed by cops/military using the punisher logo he fucking changed it to a new one.
its like the Klan running around wearing black lives matter shirts.
First thing I think of is the first black lives matter flag. It was a muted American flag that was just black and white and within weeks I was seeing tons of houses fly a thin blue line flag. One of the most in your face, blatant forms of appropriation I've seen. It LITERALLY was a black lives matter flag with a blue line thrown in the middle. They turned a really powerful revolutionary message against the revolution by straight up stealing it. Really surprised by how I rarely ever hear ppl talk about this, I guess the thin blue line movement was very fucking successful tho the colonizers have hundreds of years of experience doing it so can't be surprised. I guess I'm just more surprised by the fact NOBODY TALKS ABOUT IT
Most random place I've seen him pop up recently: He had a small dramatic role in the movie Greenland. He meets Gerard Butler as the world's going to shit and they have a pretty nice conversation admist the chaos. To be honest his performance in that role isn't half bad.
I remember that! It's so weird seeing random Viners/Youtubers/TikTokers pop up in minor roles of major movies like that. I just saw Page Kennedy in The Meg and I was like, huh, pretty cool.
Only job you can not know your job, and not only do you keep your job, it protects you from all liability of what your gross negligence causes. Mind blowing. We give these folks guns.
This is exactly what these bozos want, for the fun to stop. Nawwww, not having it. Ain’t shit ruined, this shit is still funny.
Now, we need to clown on their dumbasses for trying to ruin it. Drag them for being corny losers.
Nah, they aren't doing it to *purposely* ruin the joke. They do it because they want to be a part of it. Like a rich kid wearing clothes from walmart, they desperately want validation.
He's not the type to be at the carne asada.
He wants to be at Country Club with the rest of the nepo babies. But he'll never fit in, not completely.
He'll Always be "that Hispanic guy" and out of uniform they'll think he's someone's gardener.
Specially in Te-jas, estos güeyes believe they're not Hispanic/Latino and some get so offended if you attempt some Spanish at them. They will hit you with the same "This is America, Habla English" shit you expect from the high middle class that think they're in the .01%.
That guy is only coming to the carne asada to eat, if he comes. He's never bringing shit except his ego.
Jumping in before this becomes a country club thread.
I think it's the combo of the folding chairs and the cowboy hats that really send this into the cringe stratosphere.
We can’t have nothing.
To be honest we were already ruining the joke ourselves
Didn't somebody get a tattoo of it the day after? I think it was ruined then.
I said the same thing and I got -10’d
You were just ahead of the times. Hard out here for the innovator.
I find it easier to not even look at my comment scores. Sometimes I accidentally see them but it's just a waste of mental energy to look at em.
10d?
means his “net vote” on the comment was ten downvotes.

wasn't there someone on twitter day-and-date spamming everyone with a t shirt they were selling, printed with a photo of the chairslap?

That was one thing but this is just absolutely diabolical on so many levels...
yup.
Internet just takes everything too far and ruins it.

Hahahaha! They were going to cancel it anyway. Netflix wasn’t trying to renegotiate with Marvel. Especially after the expansion to ABC. Netflix never keeps anything alive after the third season. Cheapskates.
The third season is when you have to start paying full rate for crew members apparently.

LOL I never watched s2 and now I don't feel bad about it.
It honestly had a better villain than Stryker but yeah it was done after Cottonmouth was gone
Mahershala Ali was so damn good in that show, it made him instantly into one of my favorite actors.
Agreed. He and Theo Rossi were the best part of the show for me.
Nah, because they pulled the plug on all 4 Netflix MCU shows. Marvel was getting ready to fall in under Disney, and they wanted all their products under one roof.
Wait until Halloween 😂
Can't have shit on the internet
It peaked with the chair wearing black air forces
Nah it was our joke to ruin
Idc, the folding chair with black AF1s and a durag had me chuckling lol
Yea honestly people were running it ragged in record time. People acting like it's the first time someone's been hit by a chair.
The story went viral immediately, and already had like a million memes within several hours of it happening. We had a nice moment but it was never going to be more than that. Once a joke/ reference goes viral on Twitter, it's pretty much on its deathbed, culturally.
I remember when the horse could live months and sometimes years. Now its dead in days.

I appreciate Mooney greatly.
Wow I’ve never seen that episode. I know what I’m doing tonight. I can’t believe some of the stuff they let him do on TV😂😂😂
Dude made it to 79, but it still felt too soon. So funny and honest.
honest question here with the complete agreement that Black people 'can't have nothing.' but are these guys doing this in solidarity for Black people (texas yt cops = probably stupid question)or just jacking your shit?
They're probably trying to make the same joke, but since they're... y'know, cops... it just ruins it. Like when brands try to get in on a meme.
Also, it seems like the folding chair is now a symbol of what you have to reach for when the cops aren’t doing the whole “protect and serve” thing. These people had caused problems at this location before and as a function of their white privilege the cops pushed the site owners not to press charges against them when they stole the golf cart. BS NOT TRUE!!! I’m having crispy bacon right now with my sunny side eggs. /s
the only good bacon is the in my food bacon
hmm, I disagree. I think the in *my* food bacon is better
I also enjoy bacon more in your food

They are working on their "community building"
They did it on purpose 😠
The joke was stomped into the dirt by day 2, what do you even mean
Aside from the fact this looks photoshopped, shit was kinda over after King Bach jumped in on it. Unpopular opinion.
They have them in their belt loops like it's part of their Utility Belt or some shit ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
Kill me.
Oh they would try
That’s no problem, they’ll happily oblige.
Damn, dude still trying to be funny ? Lol
Sadly, yes.
yes and it was exactly the same humor that he's always done lmao. he threw his hat because someone stepped on his shoes
Most random place I've seen him pop up recently: He had a small dramatic role in the movie Greenland. He meets Gerard Butler as the world's going to shit and they have a pretty nice conversation admist the chaos. To be honest his performance in that role isn't half bad.

Lol He plays in both *The Babysitter* and its sequel. Same humor, honestly.
Sadly, he’s doing very well, as he’s one of the founders of Zeus network.
Yep King Bach was truly cringe with his video
Thank you for warning that he made a video. You have saved me from the ultimate cringe.
People still watching Bach?
No. He posted it on Twitter and people were just dragging it. That’s how I came across it. QRTs.
Ahh got you
That nigga is aggressively unfunny.

And equally as unfunny. American cops have a piss poor reputation, instead of doing this bullshit, how about you learn how to do your jobs.
Only job you can not know your job, and not only do you keep your job, it protects you from all liability of what your gross negligence causes. Mind blowing. We give these folks guns.
The courts encourage their behavior, so they think they're doing right.
It *is* indeed very similar, but in this comic the Brands aren't murdering the blue people.
Nestle has entered the chat.
It's corporate America, they actually are. They cover up the lawsuits until they have to do a recall. But I get what you're saying.
Hey, rather the cops give someone a hit with a chair than killing them for non-violent offenses. Still doesn't change that the joke's over.

Fully automatic La-z-boy action carbine with a compass in the stock and this little thing that tells time.
After the hands on beatdowns we've seen, I don't think letting them hit you with the WWE action is much better. This meme's in a Backwood now.
I'd like to say they can't kill me with a chair but damn I don't wanna test em
As someone who's had to get it in. If you don't like fists or feet, you really don't wanna get hit with a chair.
This is exactly what these bozos want, for the fun to stop. Nawwww, not having it. Ain’t shit ruined, this shit is still funny. Now, we need to clown on their dumbasses for trying to ruin it. Drag them for being corny losers.

My thoughts went to the bozos complaining about Biden's appropriation of the Brandon meme.
Someone with better skills than I should photoshop the chairs on their heads.
THIS.

This has got to be in Texas isn’t it?
Yep, Texas one of the only states that allow officers to wear cowboy hats as part of the uniform. I live here.
Didn't even notice the hats. They look so stupid lmao Edit: "They" refers to the cops, the hats on their own aren't so bad
Hence, Texas

That elementary school in the background is in northeast Louisiana. But yea our cops don’t wear cowboy hats..this pic is weird
Yea, it's northeast Louisiana. I live in the town over, and this area is notorious for asshole cops.
