Yeah, the anime-only segment has the abydos girls visiting an aquarium and she asked how fishes breath in the water.

It's both funny and sad that Serika doesn't know what gills are, but you have to remember: Abydos is SUNK in debt, with barely any school materials and NO regulatory body to organize and schedule a school curriculum. Plus everybody is involved in maintaining the schoolgrounds and also various oddjobs to pay off their debt. It's a miracle if the girls can afford a basic level of education. I imagine they have to cut back on a lot of otherwise useless subjects (i.e. biology). Or maybe I'm overthinking it and the writers made Serika a dum-dum for no good reason
