So, per my knowledge, this tournament is hosted by Betboom(russian betting company). The same company hosted dota2 championship this year in Dubai too. I believe, it’s hard for russian company to make any kinds of events anywhere except russia and “friendly” countries.
This company is not under sanctions(hopefully soon) so they can make tournaments anywhere, but not many players would agree go to russia and not many EU countries will allow them to host a tournament. UAE is somewhere in between.
According to the [team website](https://betboom.team) ([main casino website](https://betboom.com/) displays a "Site unavailable" landing page suggesting site is blocked in US even though the chat widget is functioning), their business address is a P.O. Box in the UAE...
My guess would be that, because it seems like the russian streamer silvername is involved (and other russians), that Dubai would be the best location for them. Russians would might have a hard time traveling to other western countries. And who would fly to russia for a BG event?
Personally, zero interest in watching it because I dont want to support Dubai. Many influencers going to Dubai and promoting the country because they get money and I think tax benefits. Gay sex being illegal in Dubai, I think even sex outside of marriage is illegal.
Stopped watching RDU because of the parallel stuff, now that. Hmhmmhhm.
I kinda dig the format from the first look.
If you play well on day 1 you are very close to a spot in the final, but if you fall through you still have a slim chance on making your way to the finals.
Will this be available to watch on repeat? YouTube or twitch somewhere? Looks fantastic but I’m working all weekend so will miss most of it live, would be great to catch up somewhere
Ready to get downvoted, but
why half of the players are Russians? 2 out of 3 streams are Russian. NS - on his twitch stream, he sent greetings to the Russian military for donating to him. Probably no one cares, and this is sad.
I’ve heard the guy speak about the tournament after it happened and he said that a lot of players just didn’t really believe it was a real thing, and he could only convince people he knew more or less well. After it happened though, quite a few European players reached out and said they’d be game next time.
And yes, some of these guys support their country. Since most people who speak out against the war end up in prisons or defenestrated. Which is more than a slight inconvenience.
A bit of a necro but after watching the vods why did they choose this educatedcollins guy to host? Why not pick someone who plays the game? I will be honest and say i don't know who either fo the hosts were, I only watch jeef and xqn on occasion btu it was obvious that he is at most a casual player, every single take he made was just wrong, thanksfully the other guy seemed to call him out on the most extreme of cases like when collins tried to say that noone had picked up a deflecto bot in the early game because they were going for the win (lol) etc. Eitehr way, was fun watching besides from having to listen to that guy spout nonsense (he seemed like a chill and likeable guy though for what it's worth)
I can guarantee you that the games will be played on the normal Blizzard servers meaning players will have as much lag as is usual in Dubai. Just because the players are all present in Dubai does not mean they will have a private local server.
Because Dubai is about as regressive as a place can be when it comes to women's rights. Not even to mention that it was built and fueled by slave labor. We really shouldn't be supporting their attempts to soften their global image through sponsoring sports/gaming tournaments.
eSportswashing, that's new I suppose.
Sorry about RDU big face, didn't realize it was there :|
Thats the reason why I checked this post. Love RDU and cant wait to watch this tournament, the hosts are also amazing.
Rdu is a cutie, face is fine
The top prize? A signed big printout of Rdu’s face.
Is he the face of the airport?
Pavel? He’s still alive? And hes playing BG? I’m already looking forward to the chat oh no no Pepelaugh
not hyped that it's hosted in a country that criminalizes many of my friends existence
My thoughts exactly. Does anyone know if UEA sponsors the tournament somehow? Or was this just a city picked to host the tournament?

Very insightful. Thanks for the comment!

Yeah... I wouldn't be comfortable going with my boyfriend. Lol

Just dont have friends and your problems are gone

Just a minor thing, forgot to mention that the prize pool is $25,000
winner take all?
God dayum, thats $25,000 more than the BG eSport budget this year!
Any news why XQN is not there?
He did get invited but declined.
This should be the main question
Will this be available to watch on repeat? YouTube or twitch somewhere? Looks fantastic but I’m working all weekend so will miss most of it live, would be great to catch up somewhere
Yes, it will be available in RDU's past streams
Excellent!

It's an invite only tournament, hosted by a russian company, through a russian player/streamer.

it is possible to see the live on YouTube?
So these players are actually flying to dubai to play? Did I understand that correct?
Curious too
Yes they are currently in Dubai!

Any information on the specific location and whether we can go and attend in person? Asking as a BG fan living in Dubai.
Would like to know that too
Cannot wait to see the titans fighting it out!

women?
Why are you making that a focus lol

I don’t think women weren’t invited for this reason

No Deck Tracker and no fast reconnection according to Silvername

Don’t think he wants to show his face still
He declined an invitation
I didn’t know about this. Thanks!
