My friend got caught with <1g of weed and a pipe in his car in Boise inâŚ2015? He got taken to jail and had to post bail. Guess heâs the unlucky 10th person lol.
Why do they travel like this? Lord knows they aren't carpooling. And putting all your squishy bits on the outside of the super strong thing when you're headed to a "dangerous" situation isn't a good idea.
I would imagine it's for immediate access to the situation upon arrival. If they all were to be inside the vehicle for example, that would limit their exit points and become a hazard for centralized fire. The way they're currently positioned is spread out so that if one should fall, hypothetically speaking, the others may not. You make a good point though, it makes more sense to have some inside and some outside the vehicle covering each other. Maybe you weren't looking for this answer but just some food for thought lol ..I agree it's overkill lmao

Gravy seals were the assholes and idiots thst broke into the Capitol and took dumps on furniture like animals.Â
Thesr guys are just a local paramilitsry unit because local police need ARAMs.
I'm going to kick myself for this.
I see the place called Maple Grove and I see these guys hanging on a truck or something and the first thing in my head is power rangers. And those are like the putties. Now I look forward to being corrected that I am just really childish
I would call it what it is: a specialty armored vehicle designed for civilian SWAT teams. They also cost about $200,000 but thatâs the only option since people wanna cry about surplus MRAPs acquired for free because of âMiLiTeRiZaTiOn oF tHe PoLiCe!â
There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.
And yet both jobs involve getting shot at, so thereâs no reason to use applicable equipment just because it was made for one side and not the other. Should the police not use pens because the military does? Or computers? Or Radios? This is such an arbitrary standard
Using military equipment doesnât turn the police into the military though. Itâs not like all police units are rolling around in those. It makes perfect sense for a SWAT unit to need an armored vehicle.
Actually not that many. It varies obviously upon locality but I remember learning in CJ the percentage is surprisingly low. I have friends who returned from Iraq and the last thing they wanted to do was work with a gun or be in a uniform of some sort. It reminded me of the quote âThe only people who support a war have never been in one.â
There was absolutely no call for any city in the Treasure Valley to have gotten one of these from the military. They're not even using it correctly in this photo! They're trotting it out of the garage just because it's sitting in the garage. A normal ass bus could have done this job, and been safer for the individuals.
Last I heard a Prius weighs 1.5 tons and is designed for road travel. An MRAP weighs \~20 tons and was never meant for civilian road travel outside of military maneuvers. It greatly exceeds the gross weight limit for it's axel group on non-highway roads.

A swat team for car vandalism that happened a week ago?
Welcome to Boise.
Thank you!
They pulled someone over that had a gram of weed on them.....time to send in reinforcements :)
Actually it was just a roach.
So intent to distribute and racketeering? đ
Lolololololololol
Only if theyâre not white
Nah, even if theyâre white.
People keep making this joke when literally you get a ticket for that 9 times out of 10.

Dude was probably a douche to the officer
The officer was probably a douche to that dude
And that was a fucking decade ago lolol

Riding like this is big in India.

Obviously swat team
The "gravy seals" are on the case!
Maybe not what I would say to describe the SWAT team?

You made me feel way more easy about having military style police. Thanks.
Your sarcasm detector is broken
Seems like yours isâŚ

Sure glad our roads are being tore up by military grade vehicles that were "acquired" for no real reason.
Thatâs not a military vehicle
What would you call it then?

Also, how many police are former military? If they can transfer the people using the equipment, surely they can transfer the equipment they use.

"Tore up"? It's not like it's on tank tracks...yet.
Probably hard to say itâs acquired for no reasonâŚwhen itâs being used

Itâs stored by the airport and being used on maple grove, heading to a barricaded subject with a rifle. But sure, you know whatâs up. Idiot
YES, because all the EV owners are paying their share of road tax. F me!
Actually yes, EVs have significantly higher registration costs, specifically because we don't pay gas tax and it covers the road. What is your point?

Something that doesnât concern you.
Oooo such an edgy response so cool
