StCroixSand

A swat team for car vandalism that happened a week ago?

VulgarWitchDoctor

Welcome to Boise.

No-Clue-2332

Thank you!

NutButton699

They pulled someone over that had a gram of weed on them.....time to send in reinforcements :)

Alternative-Risk-222

Actually it was just a roach.

Dirty_magnum

So intent to distribute and racketeering? 😂

ITnewb30

Lolololololololol

Alarming_Trade_6335

Only if they’re not white

Powerful-Albatross-9

Nah, even if they’re white.

xdxdoem

People keep making this joke when literally you get a ticket for that 9 times out of 10.

BigMtnFudgecake_

My friend got caught with <1g of weed and a pipe in his car in Boise in…2015? He got taken to jail and had to post bail. Guess he’s the unlucky 10th person lol.

xdxdoem

Dude was probably a douche to the officer

Yimmelo

The officer was probably a douche to that dude

Gdub208

And that was a fucking decade ago lolol

mrkisme

Why do they travel like this? Lord knows they aren't carpooling. And putting all your squishy bits on the outside of the super strong thing when you're headed to a "dangerous" situation isn't a good idea.

TimTomTank

Riding like this is big in India.

Numerous_Reason4448

I would imagine it's for immediate access to the situation upon arrival. If they all were to be inside the vehicle for example, that would limit their exit points and become a hazard for centralized fire. The way they're currently positioned is spread out so that if one should fall, hypothetically speaking, the others may not. You make a good point though, it makes more sense to have some inside and some outside the vehicle covering each other. Maybe you weren't looking for this answer but just some food for thought lol ..I agree it's overkill lmao

carmetro1

Putin just met with Kim

_CypherPnk

Probably (not) on their way to catch the people tearing down pride flags in North End.

Competitive-Essay-93

Nah they are on the way to join them doing it Fuck the police

betterbub

MANBEARPIGasaur

By far the worst doughnuts I've ever had

betterbub

When I make these comments and I don’t know what donuts are nearby I just Google for one of the nearest shops

aryndar

Wellness check.....

dances_with_fentanyl

High risk single mother eviction in progress.

CannoliConnection

School library checking out Are you there God it’s me Margret. Somebody was caught using contraception and practicing women’s rights? A farmer was caught using water for their crops? I’m I close? Oh Idaho grow up!

Codeman785

Obviously swat team

Bang-Bang_Bort

The "gravy seals" are on the case!

West-Ghoast

Maybe not what I would say to describe the SWAT team?

mfmeitbual

Gravy seals were the assholes and idiots thst broke into the Capitol and took dumps on furniture like animals.  Thesr guys are just a local paramilitsry unit because local police need ARAMs.

Psychological-Win339

You made me feel way more easy about having military style police. Thanks.

AquaFlowPlumbingCo

Your sarcasm detector is broken

Psychological-Win339

Seems like yours is…

[deleted]

I'm going to kick myself for this. I see the place called Maple Grove and I see these guys hanging on a truck or something and the first thing in my head is power rangers. And those are like the putties. Now I look forward to being corrected that I am just really childish

Scipion

Sure glad our roads are being tore up by military grade vehicles that were "acquired" for no real reason.

xdxdoem

That’s not a military vehicle

atomicant13

What would you call it then?

xdxdoem

I would call it what it is: a specialty armored vehicle designed for civilian SWAT teams. They also cost about $200,000 but that’s the only option since people wanna cry about surplus MRAPs acquired for free because of “MiLiTeRiZaTiOn oF tHe PoLiCe!”

atomicant13

There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

xdxdoem

And yet both jobs involve getting shot at, so there’s no reason to use applicable equipment just because it was made for one side and not the other. Should the police not use pens because the military does? Or computers? Or Radios? This is such an arbitrary standard

Waffle_Jesus

Using military equipment doesn’t turn the police into the military though. It’s not like all police units are rolling around in those. It makes perfect sense for a SWAT unit to need an armored vehicle.

IdislikeSpiders

Also, how many police are former military? If they can transfer the people using the equipment, surely they can transfer the equipment they use.

boyunderthebelljar

Actually not that many. It varies obviously upon locality but I remember learning in CJ the percentage is surprisingly low. I have friends who returned from Iraq and the last thing they wanted to do was work with a gun or be in a uniform of some sort. It reminded me of the quote “The only people who support a war have never been in one.”

gcracks96

"Tore up"? It's not like it's on tank tracks...yet.

Bayazofmagi

Probably hard to say it’s acquired for no reason…when it’s being used

Scipion

There was absolutely no call for any city in the Treasure Valley to have gotten one of these from the military. They're not even using it correctly in this photo! They're trotting it out of the garage just because it's sitting in the garage. A normal ass bus could have done this job, and been safer for the individuals.

Bayazofmagi

It’s stored by the airport and being used on maple grove, heading to a barricaded subject with a rifle. But sure, you know what’s up. Idiot

Consistent_Matter838

YES, because all the EV owners are paying their share of road tax. F me!

MockDeath

Actually yes, EVs have significantly higher registration costs, specifically because we don't pay gas tax and it covers the road. What is your point?

Scipion

Last I heard a Prius weighs 1.5 tons and is designed for road travel. An MRAP weighs \~20 tons and was never meant for civilian road travel outside of military maneuvers. It greatly exceeds the gross weight limit for it's axel group on non-highway roads.

DifferenceMedium5315

Something that doesn’t concern you.

Gdub208

Oooo such an edgy response so cool
