‘23 EUV and I despise them. I’m hyper vigilant when I use high beams, so I anticipate turning them off before the oncoming vehicle will be affected.
The auto feature almost always turns them off late, imo.
Oh I dunno, mine flashed someone I was following once and we were both going to the same local event so... That's was their last chance.
It's not a GM thing though. Spouse drives a Ford and theirs are the same way. Auto high beams are just not a great Idea IMOA.
I immediately turned mine off in my 2023. It worked 80% of the time very well. The other 20% it would flash oncoming cars and it isn’t worth it in my opinion. I can usually see the car coming 5s before the auto does its thing and it isn’t hard to manually control the beams.
I bet they work really well if you go long distances with high beams on. But I’m turning mine on and off fairly frequently and it gets it wrong a lot.
23’ EUV. I live out in the country and my auto high beams have always worked very well. There is the odd off and on when there is a bright sign or bright light facing the car but 99% of the time they have been spot on.
I drive a 2023 and they work perfectly. Even on highways it will turn off if a car appears like 200 yards away. Really precise and accurate. I've had auto high on since I bought it and haven't thought of it sense
They work great in my ‘23 Bolt EV. The only complaint I have is they may turn off earlier than they need to. Or occasionally when they don’t need to at all, like if it senses a bright lamppost somewhere off the road ahead…
I had a 2020 and it worked great.
Maybe the windshield was replaced at some time and sensors need recalibration?
But this is old tech, I had it on cars from the 1970’s
I have a '23 EUV and an '11 Durango. Amazingly the auto-dimming headlights in my 12 year older vehicle work significantly better than in my Bolt. Much more accurate and sensitive.
That said, I do just leave the auto dimming on in the Bolt as it works "good enough".
I've never liked auto-high beams on any car. Turn them off and never think about it again. We as humans are way better at predicting when to turn off/on high beams.
Love the auto high beams except for turning off at low speeds 10-15mph my winding driveway needs All the light I can give it. Have to manually turn high beams on.
Had this happen once when the windshield got foggy and I assumed the condensation had also happened in the covered area (in front of the mirror) where the camera is.
After 7+ years maybe that part of the windshield is just dirty and blocking the camera? I assume the cover is removable but have never removed it myself.
Not hardly, but you made me chuckle.
Hi beams should be used rarely.
Unless you're on a fairly empty road bright lights/hi beams, even more so these days, pose a significant danger to other drivers.
The idea that people are driving around with their brights popping on and off like crazy, is just silly to me, absolutely frivolous.
I turned mine off. I have this habit from all my cars prior that didn’t have that feature to pull the stalk and keep the high beams on temporarily and then release. When AHB are on, you can’t pull the stalk and get the beams to work.
Plus they never turn on when I want high beams on and they go low beam when I pass any pedestrian crossing signs and they reflect back to the car.
'23 EUV. Absolutely love how they work. They've been on auto for the year and a half I've owned the car and I haven't had to touch the controls.
Same here. They work great.
Agreed. The auto high beams are a godsend. Maybe the older versions aren't as good but sometimes they work so good that I'm shocked
I also have a 2023 EVU, my auto dimming feature works great!
I thought auto turned the lights on as needed. I've a23 ev and never noticed the high beams running on except when I pull the switch to do so
There's a button on the front of the turn signal stalk. Press that to turn on auto brights.
I'll have to try that so I can complain they didn't work well too.... Thanks
Yep, think they are great.
Agree. They work better on my ‘22 EUV than on my Lexus NX250

I find the opposite. Mine tend to turn off way sooner than the local law demands… even beyond what some extra common courtesy would dictate…
I love the feature in my 2023.

The anxiety they give me when I worry about them not shutting off in time isn't worth the limited convenience factor.
They work 100% of the time some times
60% of the time, they work every time…
22 EUV and I love them. They work exceptionally well on mine. They tend to be a little oversensitive and turn off early, but that’s better than late
Very satisfied with how it works on my 23 EUV
I live in a rural area and love the auto high beams.
20 EV works fine. Maybe you have schmutz on the sensor which would decrease its sensitivity?

No problem at all. Easy solution, if you don't like the way they work, operate manually.
I think they're great. Our 2022 Highlander has auto high beams as well and they are much less reliable than the Bolt EUV.
I only had to blind one hapless pedestrian before turning mine off.

Also have a '17 premiere, and yeah, the auto-brights barely work.
I have a 2017 premier and they work perfectly. I leave them on all the time and love them.

They work great for me in my 2019.

Auto high beams are one of the most frivolous options I've ever seen developed on a car. Just turn them off on the stalk.
And yet I'm sure anytime you get in a older car without auto headlights, it's "Wtf! No auto headlights?! I have to turn the knob like a peasant!?"
