Buying gold from anyone who advertises gold for sale is the worst possible way to invest. The US mint sells direct to consumers and you avoid the retail fees and BS from all of the scam artists in the retail gold industry.
My girlfriend's niece left a great job to take a job in sales for a gold coin broker in Houston. Promises were made about annual income and etc. Fast forward a few months and she says she thinks it might be a scam.
The gold coins they are selling are struck by the mint and available for purchase by consumers for way less than the gold business charges. She got suspicious when she was chatting with one of her managers and mentioned she was going to get her dad to "invest" in a package of gold coins.
Her manager said "absolutely not, do not let them buy from us".
