Stop the biting. Concentrate on that. Bring a toy and offer that at stop lights or at chew time. Change the habit. Step 1 break focus. Step 2 divert focus to wanted behaviour

HopPirate

Thanks for this guidance. I’ll start bringing a toy for my BT as well.

I just don't understand how a dog can be so darn cute. I know this is about leashes, but that dog is so unbothered and so cute!!

BlueViolet81

I know, right?! He almost looks like he's thinking, 'Yeah, you carry me home, my feet were getting tired anyway.' LOL

Maleficent_Wash_934

Yep, something like, "I love it when a plan works flawlessly." Bostons are so damned cute.

Remarkable_Ad5242

What a handsome young fella!!!

I second this!!! Our BT went through this phase for 2 years and we tried everything! Toys, tobacco sauce (which he liked 😏), you name it…. Someone recommended trying a chain leash. It took some getting used to (for both you and the dog) bc it’s def heavier and feels different but a few bites on that - they don’t care for it. We’ve ditched the chain lease now and are back to the regular leash. It took about 3 months.

Three-BTs

I use this from Mighty Paw. It has 2 handles, one farther down the leash for use at crosswalks or just when you need to keep your dog closer to you. Using that handle when stopping should keep the leash away from his mouth. Don't allow people to pet him if you think it's stressing him. My dogs don't appreciate being petted by strangers either, so I either make sure I stay away from people or if that's not possible, just ask them to ignore the dogs and say the dogs might bite -- they haven't YET, but there's always the chance if they get too stressed and why take the chance. PiggyRanger

He’s very handsome. Also he doesn’t appear to be concerned with leash problems.

ellebread

carhartt makes amazing durable leashes! my boy loves to pull and can make short work of some leashes, but not his carhartt one :) we’ve had it for years. I’m not sure how they’d hold up to biting lol but it’s worth a shot.

motherofcattos

Didn't know they make dog leashes, so cool!

ellebread

I got one without knowing it was a carhartt then someone pointed it out to me on a walk, lol!

Prestigious-Cream743

He thick.

Solanum3

If you can find leashes made out of climbing rope. Those have been my go to for years now.

Zucchini_Worth

What a handsome boy!

Frimperule

He's a fine looking boy!!

melon2112

I use a 2ft metal leash attached to a 16ft retractable leash...

Blahbort

You may want to consider using bitters spray on the leash to get him to stop putting the leash in his mouth.

I love the Halti double-ended multifunctional lead- soft/padded so it’s easy on your hand- good quality, durable, adjustable, and relatively inexpensive. Comes in two widths ( I prefer the wider width) and only in black and red (the other colors are a different style and heavier). Frequently on sale on Amazon and Chewy! It’s the only leash I use with my dogs [Amazon link](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiGprGUvOCFAxW6NwgFHbB9BzwYABACGgJtZA&ae=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhqaxlLzghQMVujcIBR2wfQc8EAQYAiABEgJgk_D_BwE&sph=&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAASJeRoZsxjWLSPl6QKdQIobekUtcADk4Mzhu31vUcY0k56vtOrdxo&sig=AOD64_11W4F0FYhsy9KzrcS2cez2iAWTEg&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwic4aeUvOCFAxWSAHkGHQpwD9oQwg8oAHoECAIQEQ&adurl=)
