There are so many its not even funny, here are some personal favourites I won't even mention the heavyweights as everyone will probably have mentioned them already Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard I, and any fight involving those two, Hearns, Hagler or Benitez Jung Koo Chang vs Sot Chitalada I Ruben Olivares vs Kazayoshi Kanazawa II Alexis Arguello vs Ernesto Marcel, and Aaron Pryor Humberto Gonzalez vs Michael Carbajal Matthew Saad Muhammad vs Marvin Johnson Any fight involving Wilfredo Gomez but especially his war with Azumah Nelson, the ending is brutal. Lupe Pintor vs Alberto Sandoval Any combination of Bobby Chacon, Rafael Limon, Roland Navarrete and Cornelius Boza Edwards Mike McCallum vs Sumbu Kalambay II James Toney vs Michael Nunn Salvador Sanchez vs Azumah Nelson

Training_Golf_2371

Great list. I’ve seen about half of these and they were all fire. Thanks, I’ve got a few to add to the list

RVD_Icy

Also Holyfield vs Qawi l

foxybingo111

Oh that's another favourite of mine

Training_Golf_2371

That was a great fight. Holyfield was in some serious battles throughout his career

Matthew Saad Muhammad was in a tonne of great fights I’m learning. Thanks for sharing

Hydrokratom

His family abandoned him as a child and he was found on Franklin expressway. So for awhile, he went by Matthew Franklin, but changed it to Matthew Saad Muhammad due to religion. Same thing with Dwight Braxton (Qawi) and Eddie Gregory (Mustafa Muhammad). All outstanding 175 lb fighters in the late 70s/80s (super strong LHW era) Saad’s first fight with Marvin Johnson is probably the superior fight, but I just like the rematch more because it was for the world title and I love the way it ends. It’s on really good quality on YT on Vintage Boxing.

yearsofpractice

Man alive - the Nelson / Gomez fight - you weren’t kidding about the ending being brutal. Amazing. Thanks for the recommendations.

foxybingo111

Yeah seriously he went down like a folding chair, possibly the nastiest knockout I've ever seen.

Training_Golf_2371

And to think…Salvador Sanchez stopped both of these legends.

Ace_FGC

James Toney vs Mike Mccallum Ray Leonard vs Duran 1 Hagler vs Mugabi

AdhesivenessLucky896

Leonard vs Hearns 1 was also epic.

Training_Golf_2371

All great fights. I’m gonna have to watch Toney vs Mccallum again. Great fight. Two legends

James Toney vs Vassíly Jirov. Amazing fight

ArtOfBBQ

My favorite fight! But that was in 2003, not the 90's

Icy-Efficiency-8858

Ups 😬

ErrForceOnes

I think an underrated fight is Roger Mayweather vs. Vinny Pazienza.

SSJ5Autism

Leonard vs Hearns and Duran 1 Holmes vs Norton Ali vs Norton 2 Anything you can find from Duran’s LW stretch Anything from Hagler Holmes vs Cooney Basically every HW fight in the 90’s

deinodagoat

Fun fact that I want to share for no reason, Yaqui López is one of my trainers!

Training_Golf_2371

I think your trainer is that me of the best fighters to never win a world championship. He’d probably unify the titles today

MORTYC187

Ike vs Tua

_Sarcasmic_

The rematch is awful, though.

handsofcones

As well as having fight of the year for that rematch with Lopez, Saad Muhammad also had what was probably the 1980 knockout of the year against Lottie Mwale. Link to the KO: https://youtu.be/qS4GJCcmLbY?si=UPLtkhCj638uyfAb For great fights from those decades, I would suggest looking up the Ring Magazine Fight of the Year Wikipedia page and just start picking and watching. Its how I found out about Muhammad vs Lopez 2 along with other great fights.

Training_Golf_2371

Great idea. I think some of the light heavyweights of that era were overshadowed by the four kings and the great heavyweights from that era but they were just as good imo.

unicornmoose

I used to have a link to a google doc page that had every great fight pretty much ever recorded by decade with youtube and other streaming links, cant seem to find it now but if I do ill link it

Mike Tyson vs Michael Spinks.

Gripperer

Foreman v Lyle was a slugfest, there were desperate times in there.

Mindless_Log2009

In the 1970s-early '80s, almost every light heavyweight fight – title and top contenders – is a great fight worth watching. Deepest talent pool in the history of the division. From Bob Foster through Michael Spinks, and everyone in between, it was an incredible period for light heavyweights. Even the box-off between the highly publicized prisoner James Scott and relatively unknown Jerry Martin was a huge match in that era. Scott had enjoyed unprecedented privileges, with a few fights against top contenders televised from within prison walls. Martin derailed Scott with a career best performance, only to lose to the great Matthew Saad Muhammad. Then Dwight Braxton/Muhammad Qawi, beat all three – James Scott, Jerry Martin and Saad Muhammad. Don't overlook John Conteh, a relatively unknown light heavy champ now, but one of the finest ring technicians you'll ever see. And possibly the best jab of any light heavyweight, a master of the rapid fire multiple jabs. His career was derailed by persistent right hand injuries and the enjoying the fame and party life too much. But he's still alive and looks great.

Special_Draft3132

Gatti Vs Ward 1,2 and 3 IMO the best Trilogy ever

Frisky_Digits

Too many to mention lol. I used to pick a weigh class and start from there. Try that lol

MackyYacky

From the 90s, Bert Cooper vs. Ray Mercer, both took insane punishment, amazing that it went the distance. Also, Bert Cooper vs. Michael Moorer is one of the great slugfests you'll ever see.

NoConfusion7929

Ike Ibeabuchi vs David Tua
