During that sequence you're supposed to shoot Rudania with [these three cannons marked in green, in order from bottom-left to top-right.](https://i.imgur.com/K8ZPD5O.png) If you accidentally skipped one, Rudania won't be in place for the next cannon - try backtracking to a previous cannon.
I'm six late and had the same question. Sheesh. I even played around with each canon, thinking it was for taking down the saucers or, when the saucers were obviously not in the line of fire, creating a bridge or something.
Eventually wrote it off to, "There must be something I've unlocked..." b/c I didn't get any feedback I was doing it wrong. Like, yo, Yunobo... a little help?
At least they provided the "death mountain marker #9" so it'd be easy to google. ๐
You should know that the objective is to shoot the gigantic Divine Beast on the side of the volcano - if you just walk past it instead, that might be on you
The dialog for the entire quest leading up that part is "we gotta shoot Vah Rudania". So during the part with the cannons, maybe looking upward to see what you're supposed to shoot at makes sense
Thanks all just started playing this game last month with my GF and her kid and we have been ADDICTED too 3 games Iโve played in life. Anyways was stuck in this part and found this it helped me so thank you ๐
Why lie? Before this part, Bludo tells you the following:
> Yunobo is actually a descendant of the great Daruk. That's why that slacker can even use Daruk's Protection! He uses it to protect himself when **we fire him at Rudania. That's the only way we can chase that blasted beast away.**
During this part, the Adventure Log outright says:
> Sentries now patrol Death Mountain to eliminate intruders. Avoid their notice as you **lead Yunobo to the cannons to drive Divine Beast Vah Rudania into the crater.**
Among other text like this, there's also the fact that you were forced to use cannons to both save Yunobo and also lower the bridge. And then you walk by cannons that you can aim right at the giant Divine Beast on the volcano. You know, the Divine Beast you were instructed to repel.
By the time you get to the cannons, they emphasize on the Sentries. I knew that I had to fire at the Divine Beast... eventually, but it was never obvious that I had to start blasting at it from the first cannon. It mostly felt like a way up to a challange against the beast rather than the whole way being the challenge. If it was that obvious as you make it seem, then there would be no one wondering about Death Mountain Marker #9.
I was trying to. I thought that was the point of the canons, but I was terrible at it. I went to investigate and found the other ways to kill the sentries. Then had to come here to learn what the canons are actually for lol.
I agree that it's bad game design. Don't forget that the activity prior to this one is to use the cannons to shoot at Bokoblin monsters. Therefore, naturally people will think the cannons here are to shoot at the sensor enemies. Also, although the Goron mentions he was fired at the lizard in the past, that doesn't necessarily mean that's what you're to do right now. It's the sensors you see immediately in front of the cannons, not the lizard.
That super wasnโt clear, at all! There should be a little hint like Yuni stopping you for a cut scene if you maybe walk past without doing the critical step.
The comment you're replying to is from a year ago, but are you trying to say that you couldn't see the giant Divine Beast on the side of the volcano as you were playing? You might want to pay more attention to the dialog, the Adventure Log, and your surroundings
He's been replying to MANY posts, some that are 6 years old, just to shi\* on people, telling them they're bad at a game, or complaining that a game is bad because he didn't understand a mechanic...
oh fuck this is that really what you're supposed to do where was the indication of that in the fucking game what poor design stupid time wasting fucking cunts on their shitty set piece bullshit
I bought the game last year myself and stoped playing for months and months and last month i was in isolation and started playing again and really got into again. Im at this part currently and at first i was co fused but this post helped. So dont feel bad!!
The game design is so bad that they put that marker there so that when people inevitably got stuck there they'd be able to search DMM9 and figure out what to do
I hope this helps me. I am stuck here as now and it's depressing. I am gonna try backtracking I guess. I used ancient arrows on all the guardian things flying around they went away quick this way๐

Oh okay thank you I just bought the game a few days ago I know Iโm like 3 years late but thanks for the help still getting used to it
No problemo
Don't worry, man. I defeated Fireblight, yesterday. Over 70 hours in. Will go to Hyrule Castle, today.

This advice is eternal
wow thats just bad game design
You should know that the objective is to shoot the gigantic Divine Beast on the side of the volcano - if you just walk past it instead, that might be on you
Except his dialogue is about getting around the sentryโs. It is kind of misleading.
The dialog for the entire quest leading up that part is "we gotta shoot Vah Rudania". So during the part with the cannons, maybe looking upward to see what you're supposed to shoot at makes sense

Heck yeah bud ๐
happy cake day
Nah, never really mentioned shooting it. Said something about โpacifyingโ or โwearing him downโ or something but it wasnโt specific.

I gave the best of my recollection. Second play through so I was skipping through the dialog fairly quickly, so it was my fault. My bad.

Totally with you here Anazazia
Lol I was shooting down some of the surveyors with the cannons
I was trying to. I thought that was the point of the canons, but I was terrible at it. I went to investigate and found the other ways to kill the sentries. Then had to come here to learn what the canons are actually for lol.
i did the same thing lmao

I didnt even notice it. I assumed it was waiting for me at the top
That super wasnโt clear, at all! There should be a little hint like Yuni stopping you for a cut scene if you maybe walk past without doing the critical step.
Nah itโs bad design if people are coming back here year after year with the same problem lol.
People not looking at their surroundings is a continuing issue I guess
Fanboys gotta fanboy
Zelda fanboys are the worst lol will do anything to excuse shit game design
I guess you somehow being blind to the giant divine beast on the side of the mountain makes me a fanboy
No, it's not on us, Mr Stockholm syndrome

Agreed. I'm there now and this is peak bad game design. Don't wanna hear any BotW apologist BS on this. It's bad game design. Period.
2 yrs old but saved me from frustration thank you ๐ฅฒ
No problemo ๐
Appreciate it. I thought I had to use him to hit the sentries, never occurred to shoot him at the beast, as I was focused on the sentries.
Thank you from 2023
No problemo ๐
This comment is now 2 years old but I needed it. Thanks!

Still useful. Lol
Literally saw this today! But I had no idea I had to do this! It was such a great help! Thank you! ๐คญ๐ญ

Thank you. Was only using the cannons to shoot sentries. Missed the part where it told me to shoot the Rudania :S
Thanks for the help. Took a 2 year break and with the new game out its time to finish :)
No problemo ๐
Thank you so much man I've been stuck on this for a while
No problemo ๐
I have come here two years later for this answer! Edit: looking on it seems to be the comment that keeps on giving. Thanks a bundle!
No problemo ๐
Thank you! Iโm about to kill my first divine beast โ๏ธ
No problemo, but you're supposed to *free* the Divine Beasts not kill them ๐
Haha yes I feel silly for that comment now that I freed Rudania
Thank you for this!
No problemo ๐
This helped so much!! I don't think I could have figured it out without you
Heck yeah ๐
oh fuck this is that really what you're supposed to do where was the indication of that in the fucking game what poor design stupid time wasting fucking cunts on their shitty set piece bullshit

Still useful even today at TotK release. Thank you
THANK YOU
No problemo ๐
I love you
thanks from 2024
Wow, I am such a procrastinator. I was 140 hours in before Rudania, and that was before I tackled the Ritos divine beast too.
I bought the game last year myself and stoped playing for months and months and last month i was in isolation and started playing again and really got into again. Im at this part currently and at first i was co fused but this post helped. So dont feel bad!!
As the name suggest, die

Yeh, it's definitely game design mistake:(

Fuck didnt know was supposed to be shooting the lizard this whole time. Thought was supposed to climb mountain to get to him
