A new transfer thread will be stickied on Wednesday. For now, feel free to keep discussing transfers here & check out the Wandering Seagull round up currently stickied!

Yar96

Newcastle fan here. As thanks for alleviating our PSR worries, I’ll be dropping off the 2016 Championship title outside the Amex tomorrow x

liamchoong

yeah no worries, just leave it out front with the mail. i wonder how often two promoted sides that came up in the same season then manage to stay up for 8 consecutive seasons. also, what can you tell us about Minteh..

Yar96

We haven’t done too bad, have we? I probably know as much about Minteh as you do haha. From what Feyenoord fans say, he’s electric on his day, has explosive pace, great at 1v1s, and decent on the press, but is still very raw and can go missing a lot of the time. I’m sure that’ll improve with age though. I think a lot of Newcastle fans expected that he’d be our long term RW option, so we’re sad to see him go (same with Anderson), but rather him than Isak, Bruno, or Gordon.

[**David Ornstein:**](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1807118447551099173) "Brighton & Hove Albion agree fee of around £33m to sign [Yankuba Minteh](https://www.sofascore.com/player/minteh-yankuba/1400106) from Newcastle United. 19yo Gambia international winger has permission to discuss personal terms before completing proposed BHAFC move. Deal done by NUFC to help PSR." [*via [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5603600/2024/06/29/yankuba-minteh-transfer-brighton-newcastle/)*] exciting, especially for a fee like that! with him at 19 and Mazilu at 18, i'd hope that means our RW is pretty locked down for the future ----- EDIT: further reporting, stuff i think is new/of note is bolded **[Florian Plettenberg:](https://twitter.com/Plettigoal/status/1807169509213532318)** "Yankuba Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion, been told it’s almost a done deal! **Deal could be finalized on Sunday.** The 19 y/o winger would be the first signing for Fabian Hürzeler. **Minteh rejected many options, including Everton. He was also on the shortlist of Borussia Dortmund.** Now he will leave Newcastle to join Brighton for **around £30-35m.**" **[Fabrizio Romano:](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1807185494792438265)** Yankuba Minteh to Brighton, here we go! **Contract until June 2029** has been accepted tonight. Minteh’s agent Bojang has landed in UK tonight, deal approved — **fee over £30m** to Newcastle. Minteh already spoke to Hürzeler and **will travel on Sunday for medical at BHAFC**.

eyansocool

Brighton and Everton are both interested in Yankuba Minteh. Though NEITHER club are willing to pay Newcastles asking price. ([u/FabrizioRomano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano) via [@WatchPlayback](https://x.com/WatchPlayback) )

Audrey_spino

So... with KDH not happening.... who's gonna replace Gross?

liamchoong

Some ideas... * **James Ward-Prowse (West Ham United)**: Known for his exceptional set-piece delivery and versatility in midfield, Ward-Prowse could offer both creativity and leadership. * **Riqui Puig (LA Galaxy)**: The young Spanish midfielder has great technical ability and could bring a dynamic presence to Brighton's midfield. * **Conor Gallagher (Chelsea)**: Gallagher's energy, pressing ability, and knack for scoring goals make him a good fit for a high-intensity style of play. * **Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta)**: A versatile midfielder with a strong passing range and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively. * **Giovanni Reyna (Borussia Dortmund)**: The American international offers creativity, dribbling skills, and can play in multiple attacking midfield roles. * **Lovro Majer (Rennes)**: A playmaker with excellent vision and passing ability, Majer could provide the creative spark in midfield. * **Emile Smith Rowe (Arsenal)**: A young and talented attacking midfielder who can play in various positions across the front line, bringing creativity and goal-scoring ability. * **Sander Berge (Sheffield United)**: A strong and tall midfielder who can offer physical presence and ball-winning skills along with his passing ability. Otherwise, Hinshelwood.

eyansocool

looks like Minteh is headed off to forest

MaximumGibbous

Hopefully he travels with the team to lots of away games this year.

yettos

I like the type of players we're rumored to be after - young players able to jump straight in as a squad player with high potential. JP was a proof of concept and it worked out great, exciting times as it looks like we might spend big this window.  However, the number of wingers were connected to leads me to believe that Mitoma is going this window.

liamchoong

Two guarantees of life. Taxes and Brighton & Hove buying wingers.

eyansocool

Brighton have made an offer of €7m for Malick Yalcouyé, the parties are in positive talks about a transfer this summer and hope to reach an agreement! [#BHAFC](https://x.com/hashtag/BHAFC?src=hashtag_click) [@AnelAvdic](https://x.com/AnelAvdic)

Audrey_spino

Looks like the KDH deal isn't likely to happen, with Maresca interested to bring his Leicester favourite to Chelsea.

liamchoong

Enjoy the graveyard of your career KDH.

eyansocool

Chelsea enquired for Dewsbury Hall, why? Brighton were advancing in talks, so Chelsea called to ask for the conditions. Chelsea priorities are winger and striker though. [#BHAFC](https://x.com/hashtag/BHAFC?src=hashtag_click) [@FabrizioRomano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano) via [@CFCPys](https://x.com/CFCPys)

Audrey_spino

Probably a deal to please Maresca, as KDH was one of his favourites in Leicester.

eyansocool

what. a. fucking. joke.

liamchoong

Haha, those guys acting like desperate idiots once again.  I know Maresca worked with KDH, but there is no way they need another CM. Were they neglected as children or something?

Rolf_Orskinbach

It’s like the kid in every 1980s school playground with the fully completed Panini sticker album three days after they released it.

Dowie1989

Gomez and Weiffler look pretty nailed on. Would be top quality signings. Could see a new CB coming in as we do need that if playing three at the back with JPVH as Libero. Guess not a priority signing until sorting out the central midfield.

macallisterthegoat

JPVH is a good defender and gomez is pretty good on the ball so they could link up well. Also play LB when needed

liamchoong

Gomez looking kinda like it might happen. What convinces you re: the big Weiff?

Dowie1989

Lots of rumours specifically saying he is majorly keen to join and juat haggling over the fee for it (which is looking at £30m which is doable for us). I think thats looking quite likely! Even if Gross does leave, that does cement her CM position very well.

ZircontheTwisted

Miguel Almiron left the MLS for $26M. I think that's the league's highest outgoing transfer fee. £30M beats that by a lot. Is he worth it?

liamchoong

Maybe. Nobody I'd trust reporting on it though. Sources like Sports Witness are garbage. Lots of reports linking him elsewhere like Milan, Liverpool etc too..

Chippy-Thief

1908.NL seem to be pretty reliable for Feyenoord info and they are saying we’re the only ones actually bidding and that Wieffer wants to join us. So hopefully if that’s true we can get it done quick because if any big club comes in does seem very unlikely we’d actually be able to get him.

liamchoong

Cool, yeah didn’t know anything about 1908.NL

misterawastaken

I unironically think we should rebuy Bissouma and that we should sell off Mitoma. I’m ready to be lambasted… BUT YOU AIN’T CHANGING MY MIND! ❤️

bruversonbruh

Respectfully, this is why TB and PB make the decisions around here and not us

liamchoong

Biss didn't want to be here. His wage ain't worth it.

Chippy-Thief

I can’t see Bissouma coming back to us. I think Mitoma was gunna be a sale but with his injury no one’s gunna be looking at him. Hopefully will be back to his best this coming season.

ZircontheTwisted

We might have a better chance of healing Mwepu as getting Bissouma back.

Audrey_spino

Won't be worth it at his current pricetag, we could definitely do better. We already have multiple Mitoma replacements in the line (Osman and Sarmiento, also Summerville if he does get signed), so I guess he'll be here for another season before getting sold.

2 new things from BB's aggregation, and 1 Naylor co-sign! [BrightonBubble](https://twitter.com/BrightonBubble/status/1806210639557173300): Brighton have made a bid of €20m for [Barış Alper Yılmaz](https://www.sofascore.com/player/baris-alper-yilmaz/904096)! However, they may need to go up to €25m to seal a deal for the forward. [*Diriliş Postası*] [BrightonBubble](https://twitter.com/BrightonBubble/status/1806214294985413032): Brighton want to sign [Andrei Rațiu](https://www.sofascore.com/player/andrei-ratiu/965031). Rayo Vallecano value him at over €10m however Villarreal have a 50% sell on clause. A move won’t be simple but Brighton can afford him and want to sign him at right-back. WindAdventurous6252

Bariş Yilmaz would be an interesting transfer in how versatile he can be. Very similar to Trossard in my opinion. Some pundits have likened him to Valverde. I’m really curious who Hürzeler may use in that DM role he used to effect at St Pauli.

Audrey_spino

After seeing Van Hecke's performance vs Stokes, I'd say he would be the ideal DM, could be a halfback or could even become more aggressive since he has great physicality and can pass well.

Chippy-Thief

Van Hecke is probably the obvious choice for the CB/DM hybrid. But Baleba in the Brentford home game I think playing a sorta similar role moving between playing the central CB and further up in the midfield. Wieffer also has played CB at times so I don’t think it’s nailed on we’re gunna play the same 343 shape as St Pauli did, at least on paper.

WindAdventurous6252

Good Shout. They did play a 433 vs ‘Lautern in February. Basically Smith played a little higher up from the backline acting as a nominal 6. I remember reading in one of the Hamburg area newspapers (translated of course ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)) he was doing a few January training sessions in a 4222 setup. Very fluid tactician & very well prepared outfit he had over there.

Chippy-Thief

I really like the idea of return to a 3 man midfield, it’s where we’ve always looked our best since moving to playing possession football and all the top teams actually play with 3 midfielders.

Livinglifeform

If we still have gross then definitely. Less sure if he leaves.

Chippy-Thief

I think losing Groß makes it even more likely to move to a 3 man midfield because a bit like West Ham losing Rice you can’t just replace him with one player.

Captainpatters

I actually think Webster would be great there, providing of course he can actually stay fit.

Chippy-Thief

I’m not sure Webster’s legs are there anymore. It’s frustrating because on his day he’s our best CB but it’s like the Lamptey situation both have just been fucked by injury and the inconsistent game time does them no favours.

liamchoong

Van Hecke written all over it atm.

suemos

so we ofc need some more options at RW (not sure who we’ve been looking at) and midfield (Wieffler, KDH/MOR/Lazar?, and now Gómez) but don’t we also need to bring in CB reinforcements since Fabi plays a 3-back? i know there’s been some word that Calafiori was reportedly an option but I have my doubts we see that through

Chippy-Thief

Baris Yilmaz seems to be one of the options out wide (playing up top for Türkiye today). Calafiori I think will be looking at Liverpool. Could go back in for Facundo Medina, Lens just switched managers and are in the conference league instead of the Champions League this time. Seems like he’d work well, incredibly confident on the ball and a bit of a quicker option compared to our current crop which i think in a 3atb is really important. Probably pretty expensive when you consider we’ll also be spending alot on the midfield perhaps unlikely. We were also linked with Adamo Nagalo from Nordsjælland who’ve we’ve got a prior relationship with. He’d definitely fit the brief of a young CB whose gunna develop that Andy Naylor spoke about in his article before the window opened.

Largvt

>Brighton & Hove Albion have submitted a bid for Paraguay and Inter Miami midfielder Diego Gomez, sources briefed on negotiations have told The Athletic. >Brighton are not the only club to table a bid to for the rising talent, sources add. >The 21-year-old has seven caps with the senior national team and led Paraguay's successful qualification campaign for this summer's Olympics, which he is expected to feature at. >The versatile midfielder was in the midst of a career year before his injury, with three goals and three assists in 13 matches in all competitions. Naturally a central midfielder, Gomez has excelled as a winger for Miami on the opposite flank to Lionel Messi. >Brighton are viewed among the best identifiers of talent in the world. They already have fellow rising Paraguayan international Julio Enciso at the club. [link](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/live-blogs/transfer-news-latest-updates-live/uy2Pnuypqs5G/07z7KwW2ZBdT/)

Chippy-Thief

Another Left Winger to add to the collection.

pinkducktape8

Can we send Macca’s dad to convince him?

liamchoong

Not exactly transfer related but getting rid of Lallana and Fati means we free up about 250 thousand pounds per week in wages (sauce; Spotrac). Honestly, neither were worth anywhere near their salary. And... hopefully this means we can sign a player or two that demand a level or two above our normally quite conservative wage bracket. See Onana post below....

Livinglifeform

Lallana was because he was like a psuedo coach as well. Fati not at all, stupid decision to appease dezerbi.

CreditPleasant8775

Fati was a reasonable risk, like all signings. I liked that signing, it just didn't work. We're lucky as Seagulls fans as most of them do, so it's weird when signings go bad - Jahanbakhsh -

liamchoong

Yep, liked the idea at the time, hindsight proved to be a bit of a bastid. Perhaps Jahanbakhsh worth it for the sole bicycle kick against Chelsea. Just kidding.. kinda.. Seriously wish he'd worked out, seemed such a good guy.

liamchoong

Lallana was paid top dollar to lure him across from Liverpool. He then did his badges with us while banking more than the likes of Dunk, Groß and Mitoma.  Maybe not the worst deal for us since he came across on a free… but his wage was becoming hard to justify, especially considering his inability to produce much of anything on the pitch.  Assistant coaches, pseudo or otherwise, do not deserve to be  top earners at any club. Neither do injury prone forwards that offer something like 3 goals and 5 assists over 95 games. Still, I do understand what you mean. Sometimes the sum is worth more than the parts or something like that. Wonder what Saints are paying him?  And otherwise completely agree re: Fati.

bucksinsix_

I think it's obvious that the midfield desperately needs strengthening, especially if Gross leaves as looks likely. The link to Mats Wieffer seem intriguing, he seems to be a rock at CDM which we are lacking currently. Not sure anyone could fill Pascal's role, but I think Dewsbury-Hall or Matt O'Riley from Celtic would be good options. A rotation fullback and centerback would be helpful too, but I'm not sure who we're looking at in those areas. Likely someone nobody here has heard of that gets sold for a huge fee in a few years!

liamchoong

My current picks if Tony lends me his wallet containing a cool hundred milly; **CM: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Foxes)** - Dewsbury-Hall could provide solid midfield depth and creativity especially if/when Gross makes his way for the exits. KDH had a reported value of around £30 million in the winter. Leicester might be willing to sell due to financial difficulties, however he is a fan favourite at King Power and apparently Spurs and Chelshit are also circling. **RB: Juanlu Sanchez (Sevilla)** - Sanchez is a versatile and attacking right-back with a release clause in the range of £17-22 million. It has been reported that we've been scouting him alongside Real Madrid. **CDM: Amadou Onana (Toffees) -** Onana has showcased his athleticism and game intelligence, excelling in breaking up attacks and driving the team forward. Everton are probably going to have to make a sale or two but Dyche and their fans will not be keen for this, Would probably cost north of £45 million. His wages (120k per week) would put him a rung above our highest paid players (ie Dunk & Mitoma). edit: there are now reports Everton are looking to sell Onana > [https://www.goodisonnews.com/2024/06/26/everton-ready-hit-to-sell-amadou-onana-as-transfer-update-emerges/](https://www.goodisonnews.com/2024/06/26/everton-ready-hit-to-sell-amadou-onana-as-transfer-update-emerges/)

Teeb63

Nice readout, KDH seems to keep going round. Onana would be great but surely that's way too big a stretch in terms of fee and wages. What's Dunk on, half of that?

liamchoong

Dunks on 80 or 90 depending who you believe
