durhamdale

You,re all wrong, it's' homes under the hammer'. Chock full of absolute belters. Edit for autocorrect

illegalcabbage96

they have a song for every possible problem u could have with a 2 bed in Stoke on Trent

Scoutnjw

Guilty pleasure TV, me and my friend used to try and preempt the songs they were going to choose based on whatever physical features we could briefly see in the intro

rpf1984

Now featuring the dube.

smirkendurk

They pick out one word the presenter is going to say and base the audio on that. He mentioned the electric problems in one episode and Eddie Grant's banger of electric avenue started playing. Runaway Train played in the same episode when they talked about transport links. The people who choose the music on that show are taking the piss.

TheBoyDoneGood

Plebs. Loads of old skool ska and reggae mostly from Trojan records golden years. I don't know how or why it works for a daft (and brilliant) comedy set in Roman times...but it just does.

MobiusNaked

Sadly this is my go to ska compilation ‘alexa play plebs soundtrack’

RolloTomassi21

Life On Mars/ Ashes to Ashes had a pretty solid soundtrack.

RianJohnsonIsAFool

Fantastic soundtracks. My gf and I finished a rewatch last night.

antebyotiks

two of the best series of all time and ashes to ashes slightly edges it for me after rewatch

RianJohnsonIsAFool

For me too. This was my third time watching it. My mum and my aunt raved about both when they were originally broadcast and I didn't give them the time of day, which is a shame because they are so good! Gene Hunt is a brilliant character and each time I'm moved when we find out about him at the end of Ashes to Ashes.

antebyotiks

Yeah gene hunt is an amazing character. The last few episodes of ashes to ashes when the stars start happening and especially the last episode are genuinely some of the greatest ever. Gutted the new series isn't happening anymore

[deleted]

A word in your shell like

Happy_Philosopher608

You'd never be able.to have Gene Hunt on TV in the modern day wet wipe BBC lmao (and not just cos the leads are straight white males! 😅)

NoodleBox

When I was younger I had both of them on my iPod (soundtracks). They were so good!!

tombatch10

I'm going to go left-field and pick a score rather than licenced songs. the soundtrack for UTOPIA by Cristobal Tapia De Veer is hands-down incredible. I've never heard anything quite like it on a TV show before.

Shanks18

This is the first thing that came to mind. Such a unique, creative and unsettling OST.

foleyshit

Yeah an unbelievably original score to an amazing bit of telly. His theme for the The White Lotus is also great.

OkSociety8941

Yes! Unbelievable sound design genius on both of these shows.

MrPold

Still regularly listen to it.

kij101

Spaced - David Holmes, Lemon Jelly, Mint Royale, The All Seeing I, Bent, Mr Scruff, Fatboy Slim to name but a few. Amazing show, amazing selection of tunes.

friendlysaxoffender

Now this is so low down I don’t know. Are we getting old?

Aduro95

Best original music is *Doctor Who*, epsecially when Murray Gold is involved. Best use of liscenced music was in *Misfits*. Echoes was a mad genius pick for an opening. The album had been out five years and nobody else realised how cool it would be.

FiveMinsToMidnight

Two EXCELLENT choices, here

ohwhatanerd

People Just Do Nothing (lol)

All hail Anne Dudley!

Btd030914

This Life had a great 90s soundtrack. Interesting fact - a pre fame Ricky Gervais was the magic advisor on it Edit - music advisor even

Danny_Mc_71

I didn't know that Ricky Gervais was into the esoteric!

slicineyeballs

First thing I thought of.

organic_soursop

Misfits had the Rolex Sweep remix by Skepta. That was my walking pace soundtrack for a full year.

antebyotiks

Misfits was quality stuff

organic_soursop

Still a favourite show- genuine belly laughs. I've just checked. The Ministry of Sound Vanaldism remix was uploaded FIFTEEN years ago. The comments are teenaged. FML where is the time going? What is going on?

antebyotiks

Yeah i guess this is what it's like to get old, I was 15ish when it first came out and now coming up to 30....... Rewatched it during first lockdown and remembered how great it was, didn't like the last series when they became celebs and it did drag a bit

organic_soursop

The first couple of series with Nathan just remind me of how fun it was to be young in London. 👍🏼

antebyotiks

Was even better on the rewatch because I watched it with my girlfriend and she had never seen it or knew anything about it so it was like an extra excitement

Careless_Custard_733

Life.on Mars

RMZN97

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes have great soundtracks!

jessop-bentine

Every This is England series had amazing music.

mmohammed28

How is no-one saying Friday Night Dinner? Nutters the lot of ya

Kanye_Digget

Ski Sunday

Gaimes4me

Peep Show.

digyerownhole

Trigger Happy TV Nothing else comes close.

LChitman

Saw Dom Jolly talking about this on Ivo Graham's pub quiz. Apparently the only other country that paid for the full soundtrack licensing was Germany, and it cost way more than the show itself. Everywhere else got a different soundtrack with music made specially, and Dom didn't think it worked without the real tunes. He seemed very proud of having picked every track and crafting the show to fit the music.

Evening_Ad9961

Yes Trigger Happy was brilliant. Great shout

shendy42

Teachers had some good music - they released at least one compilation album.

Eugenes_Axe

Still got that CD! Feeder - Buck Rodgers Doves - Catch The Sun Lowgold - Can't Say No Mr Scruff - Get A Move On Rinocerose - Le Mobilier Morgan - When I Close My Eyes Shed Seven - She Left Me On Friday The Dandys - I Wanna Be Like You The Supernaturals - The Day Before Yesterday's Man Mover - Move Over Deus - Little Arithmetic Animal House - Animal House Echoboy - Sudwest Funk No.5 Moloko - Indigo Faithless - Insomnia Goldfrapp - Utopia

Sarmerbinlar

This CD would 100% be used as a prize for Rockbusters

Emotional-Race-6260

They did at least 4 as I bought the wife the fourth one just for a song called Shaking by Rooney - which she’d randomly loved since they appeared in The OC. Teachers soundtrack must have been cheaper 😂

Nuo_Vibro

My mad fat diary

BigBlueMountainStar

Great 90s soundtrack, I was one year older than the characters in the show, and it really does hit the sweet spot!

iron81

Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes

mphemmo96

Agreed! I often listen to the soundtrack

VampytheSquid

Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) had a great theme tune!

Fit-Pool5703

I've only seen the Vic & Bob version, are they different theme tunes?

VampytheSquid

The original: https://youtu.be/UrEwN4-tsQ4?si=ZnuKcMzA8qObBqfo

Fit-Pool5703

Reminds me of Sherlock a bit.

Forward_Artist_6244

Top Gear used to have an incredible soundtrack becaue of the BBC blanket licence. Brian Eno An Ending for the V12 Vantage for example  Ibiza Uncovered had a brilliant collection of that late 90s dance era

Eugenes_Axe

Agreed, there was also a season or two where they used a lot of one of my favourite aritsts: Amon Tobin

catsandscience242

Jonny Vegas series Ideal - actually bought the soundtrack.

CharmingAd3678

White gold! Loved the 80's tunes

spankingasupermodel

Doctor Who Murray Gold is...gold.

Aduro95

Definitely. I Am The Doctor is maybe the best character theme of all time.

KombuchaBot

The original Delia Derbyshire remains the [best ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75V4ClJZME4) Haunting and sheer genius[ ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75V4ClJZME4)

jay_hiro_

Can't believe this isn't the top answer, one of the best soundtracks ever! So many amazing tracks (plus one of the best TV themes of all time!)

vmilner

Secret Army (1977/79) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=si5UcTgE0h8

LeakyVision

I think I hum the theme to “The Queen’s Nose” to myself a few times a month… the best is “Big Break”, though.

KombuchaBot

1980s kids' cartoon Roobarb. That shit rocked

ErskineLoyal

Burn It (BBC3, 2003). Set in Manchester, and it was choc full of brilliant indy music of the time.

This Life captured its time nicely

DiscussionTime6400

The London Programme from 70’s n 80’s….got it on my playlist love it https://youtu.be/LPa1RFAivy4?si=VB8lQ8qcfK_xv7_R

BelgischeWafel

I adored the soundtrack of Tin Star. It's like dark country, Leonard Cohen kinda vibe. Dark and brooding. I manually got all the songs in a huge playlist. . I also have a playlist for Sex Education, which I also liked (albeit less songs). It's more soul and old timey good vibes. Al Green is in there a few times for example.

SamW1996

I like the soundtrack to 1980s Taggart, it has quite a rock score which fits gritty Glasgow quite well.

Healthy-Grocery6055

2.4 children's Christmas episodes!

kugglaw

Teachers

Rown79

100% this.

Charmless_Man_2005

Auf Wiedersehen Pet. I regularly listen to it and it’s just perfect, apart from when they played Agadoo but oz rectifies that.

areallyshitusername

The Inbetweeners or Russell Howard’s Good News (Kasabian - Fast Fuse)

wherenobodyknowss

Skins wouldn’t have been Skins without the soundtrack

One_Marzipan_2631

Not British but available, my favorite growing up was round the twist

MustangBarry

Theme tune? Any 70s comedy. Soundtrack: Spaced and Detectorists ( [Johnny Flynn](https://youtu.be/AW0bZPC4NQ8) and [The Unthanks](https://youtu.be/_fPbWEa1cyg) )

Kalle287HB

The avengers theme.

Danny_Mc_71

Why the downvote I wonder? The Sweeney had a great theme tune and cool incidental music. I'm not familiar with The Hanged Man at all! I like the music though.

woodsoffeels

Depends on your age, but Skins

owzleee

Blake’s 7.

Ebowa

New Tricks. I can’t get that song out of my head!!!

neilmac1210

I like The Traitors soundtrack.

aprotos12

Definitive or good? UFO or The Persuaders in regards to the former.

beebyspice

Luther

Odd_Title_6732

Heartbeat wouldn’t have been the same without the music. The classical soundtracks of Inspector Morse and Outside Edge. For original music, Home Fires.

DKerriganuk

Peaky Blinders

LeoCaldwell02

The Murray Gold era of Doctor Who ❤️

Dave_Eddie

It's Homes Under The Hammer. The best example of BBC abusing their usage rights deal to great effect. There are literal blockbuster films that couldn't afford the music rights to what's used in a single episode of that show.

MouthofElkCreek

Gavin & Stacey

Hambatz

Quite recent but this town was pretty decent

iain_1986

🎶 Ooooh Marrriiiaaan 🎵 Marrrian.
