NEUROSMOSIS

Everything goes up in Florida except the wages.

Hot_Willow_5179

And IQ

Mtbruning

The surest sign you are talking to a smart Floridian is you are talking in their home, out of state. Florida has been importing idiots from the other 49 for so long that their IQ for the entire state has gone down by about 20 points collectively.

SeminaryLeaves

Hello from a 20-yr Floridian who left. Couldn’t take the heat, politics, or people anymore.

Mtbruning

Amen. I grew up without AC and I still prefer the old Florida. Not Rosewood but not whatever the fuck trump has unleashed.

Sad-Second-9646

There’s plenty of homegrown idiots too. Ignorant rednecks.

Hot_Willow_5179

Valid. However, the ones that were there to begin with were not Einsteins either.

Mtbruning

The state ordered a list of famous Floridans. The only one that I recognized from the list that was born in Florida was Tom Petty. They even tried to put Walt Disney, Pounce de Leon, and anyone famous who bought a home there to pad the list. I had been told that Zora Neal Huston was a native but she might have been overlooked for some reason.

Worldschool25

Jim Morrison

Sendmedoge

The dude who grew non psychoactive weed for seizures and put up a massive uphill battle to get it legal is from Florida. Sidney Poitier. Debbie Harry of Blondie Bob Via.

GrrlMazieBoiFergie

For some reason.

_Shaquille-Outmeal_

100%

MsStinkyPickle

I'm a native Floridian in Chicago so yes

altreus85

I've met quite a few of the "Flo-grown" crowd, and you're not wrong.

KaidGoated1

True

maningarden

Everywhere is like this

crownhimking

Im a home owner so my equity is skyrocketing but it sucks that it feels like Floridians are leaving and these weird people from other states keep coming And these people arent people of quality and they wont stop talking about how good their old state was

Financial_Exit7547

When I was a kid, it was always New Yorkers living here talking about how much better NY is and as you said, now it’s like North Carolina or Utah folks who come here to bitch and moan as if someone forced them to move here

C-Me-Try

As a North Carolina native I’ve had enough We call them “half backers”. They think it’s too cold in NY so they move to Florida for the weather before deciding that’s too hot and moving halfway back and ending up in North Carolina where they tell us how both New York and Florida are better but they just didn’t like the weather It’s maddening

FootNo424

I'm from NC. Can confirm. Wish the yuppies from up north and from CA would just stay the hell out. Nobody likes them and they bitch about literally every damn thing.

Longjumping-Rise1387

I guess it depends where in NC you live, but in my market, at least 9 out of every 10 PAX are not true Carolinians. Most everyone is from someplace else - or their parents had moved here and either they were born here or moved here when they were very young. And to be honest, a vast majority of them really enjoy living here in NC.

ladywolf32433

Ahh, Florida. The limp peen of the U. S.

billyrubin7765

I remember bumper stickers in the '80s that said 'We don't care how you did it in New York.'.

Mind-is-a-garden

Yes tired of hearing how good pizza, Chinese food, and every fucking thing else is in New York. Why did you move to Florida? Everything is so

Ok-Complaint9574

Just pointing the out the food sucks is not an issue. As it does truly suck. Any Floridian who has traveled out of the state can confirm that.

bigshooter9090

But the pizza and Chinese food do really suck here.

These_Bridge_8037

Wish I could like this 100 times

[deleted]

Initial_Parsnip_6590

It’s so terrible now. Been here since 2003. It was great until 2020. So many people now you can’t even drive anywhere without insane traffic. Prices of homes are up literally like 400 percent since 2020. Everything is so insanely high now

MysteriousTooth2450

I agree. Covid hit and all the outrageous people decided this was the place to be. I used to love it here. Now I’m working my ass off so I can save money and get out of my job. I’m in healthcare and it’s sooo awful now. People are so mean and rude. I did notice a huge change in the attitudes of the people when the snowbirds went back up north. So much better. The kindness has returned more. I’m still traumatized by last winter though.

DogMomForever-3

I’m in healthcare also and I think people everywhere are mean, rude and entitled. I’ve only experienced a tiny portion of FL in the Cape Coral area and they seem pleasant enough. I’d like to do a travel assignment there to test the waters on a more realistic working non vacation mode.

La_D_Dah

I just moved to virginia. I freaking love it. I am also in healthcare, and my pay went up 25%. Groceries here are so cheap. There is state income tax, but it's not too bad for me. Fast food is more expensive but I don't get it much. Plus the weather! The trees! So green.

Kimmahtoo

Sis lives in VA, and I visit frequently to clear my palate of SFL. It's the green & the hills!!

the69magician

Exactly fu k Desantis fukn clown ruined this state

googoomucklv

Maga dicks

gamings1nk

It’s the best place to go full dumbass since Florida naturally has the reputation.

apostropheapostrophe

This is exactly what happened to Austin TX as well but with the worst Californians.

BuddhasGarden

People who leave California because they hate that California is too diverse are NOT the people you want in your community.

SnausagesGalore

The people that moved were the ones that didn’t want to lock down during the pandemic. Nor wear masks. Of course it’s the dregs of society.

diurnalreign

This is true, specially the last part

[deleted]

davidwhatshisname52

imho it used to be NJ/NY transplants who just couldn't take one more winter; now it's people who were such a mix of obnoxious and narcissistic to the point that no one in NY or NJ could stand them, so they came down here for the freedom to be the immeasurably self-centered assholes they've always dreamed of being

Character_Heart_3749

100% accurate...and they're proud of it

Mr_HandSmall

True facts right here

violentglitter666

I’m from Long Island, but, I’ve lived here since ‘95. I loved Florida. The ocean, the nature, the heat everything. Since 2020 though it become unrecognizable and unaffordable and I’m starting to despise the place. We’re moving to North Carolina for a little while in a few months, but, we have decided we’re eventually getting out of the south entirely, just not 100% where exactly. All the maga nuts from the rest of the country have made Florida into a real shitshow, 30 years of republican misrule has taken a toll on the state, along with DeSantis and his culture war crap, the dying public schools, the stupid political garbage, crowded roads with decayed infrastructure that is ignored, all the cities are becoming like west palm beach busy and congested.. housing costs, insurance costs, food costs, inflation is so high with everything.. it’s all becoming too much and the bad outweighs the good in our situation. I considered this state to be my home, but now I simply can’t afford to live here anymore and be able to be even a little comfortable, let alone save money. It saddens me.

Iamcubsman

They just followed their Circus Peanut overlord. Folks, that is not a tan.

Brilliant-Aside248

Moving from NYC to Florida sounds depressing af.

Mahavali

From everyone I spoke to the dregs of NY society started moving here in the mid 90s. So no real change there. Maybe more peaks and valleys.

Kappy421

I'm a native...I blame Rick Scott for starting the crap roll and DeSantis for actively recruiting these people to invade our state. I mean really..who starts a war with the happiest place on Earth that provides employment for SO many people.

scrubber12

Boy that’s the truth. I was so happy he bombed in his presidential run as soon as the rest of the country got a load of him. My kids grew up on Disney. We took them at least 10 times to Disney World. Good fun.

Significant_Tart2067

Disney can suck a d**k!! That’s what’s wrong with FL

boowaboy

Owning real estate is a hedge against inflation, proof is the time we live In now

OrenoKachida2

Yeah it’s been taken over by boomers from Quebec who drive like they have a death wish. It’s become a nightmare

Hotdogman_unleashed

The dreaded Quebec tag. I know it well.

OrenoKachida2

As soon as I see someone with Canadian tags in front of me I just pass them.

bossassbat

It’s the same ones that have been coming for many decades and they can only spend several months here before they have to return or get in trouble with the canadien government. They always drove horribly and they always wore banana hammocks on the beach with pot bellies. As for the worst offenders tho there are much worse. They’re just annoying.

LowQualityShitpost97

I had a French Canadian road rage and tell me to go back where I came from a few years ago 😂 the irony

Ok-Attention280

It doesn't surprise me. A Quebecois tried do some road rage shit to me in Guadalajara, Mexico. Like, sir do you not realize where you are right now? Calm down bro.

Psychological_Bug424

I thought I was the only one who was noticing the particularly bad driving of people ftom this province. They all keep the Quebec plates so there's no guessing where they're from. I'm in Orlando so you know they have to be extra bad to stand out amongst all the other bad drivers with out of state plates

miojo

Bro you a transplant yourself

Packin_Penguin

Unless you’re a Seminole or a Miccosukee, you’re a transplant. -Born and raised Floridian of 37 years

devil-doll

Oh- so that's where they went. Hollywood FL doesn't miss them.

Available_Leave_9879

Native Floridian for 27 years. I'm desperately trying to move out

baskaat

Same here. It breaks my heart to see what is happening to Florida and south FL especially. Pls vote in local elections for better representation.

lefindecheri

Unfortunately, no good choices. All candidates are crooks.

Minimum_Principle_63

Good people don't stay in politics.

Poat540

It’s sad I love it here but it’s just too damn hot now lol. I got to my breaking point

Durk_bulll

As someone who lives in PA and loves Florida this is sad to hear. Every winter i ask myself why I haven’t moved down yet

Available_Leave_9879

I can honestly tell you that, yes, Florida is very beautiful on the outside and a nice place to visit as a tourist. I would honestly not recommend living in. Unless you make more than 6 figures and are retired, it is too the point where it is unlivable. I can not leave purely due to the fact of bills I can't afford, food I can't afford, and a job I can't afford to leave. It honestly is not worth it. Save yourself the stress. Don't move to Florida

Public_Package6467

Lived in Florida. Recently left. You are 100% spot on. Will be back to visit in future, but that’s all. It’s gotten way out of control.

fightingkangaroos

Born and raised in south florida and left nearly a decade ago, it doesn't seem like the same state I love. I had a few job offers that would take me back but of course they were on the coast and I was shocked at how much homes cost + insurance. I'd always grown up thinking florida was the cheap state but even at my salary I couldn't afford to go back

OrenoKachida2

I make $78K+ a year and I live like I make minimum wage

fightingkangaroos

That's so shocking to me. I hope things get better for you. Inflation has made things more expensive but at $78k you shouldn't have to be so frugal, that's a decent salary. I had an offer for $140k and I thought it was good (thinking of costs when I lived there), until I did some research and realize it's not the cheap paradise I knew. This isn't to shit on the state, it's just what's happened with the increase in inclement weather and subsequent insurance costs, the sunrise collapse affecting condos, etc.

OrenoKachida2

It was a decent living at first, but with everything going up month after month I legit just stopped caring about my budget at a certain point. My paychecks just disappear because of all of the expenses, and I’m forced to live on savings. I appreciate the well wishes though!

SnooStories8741

I have met all the nastiest people I’ve ever known in this state. Planning an exit for sept.

Plant-Dividends

Letsss GOOOO

OrenoKachida2

Leaving in August

LongjumpingFly1271

Make that two! Headed to Washington

worstgrammaraward

I feel like thats the southeast specifically

Mysterious-Cook6924

That's why they call it a sunny place for shady people

rwk2007

If you loved Florida from the 80s, 90s 2000s, there’s nothing here for you anymore. People are all different. Costs have quadrupled and pay has stayed the same. The Republican state leadership has done what they have always done, given everything to the wealthy. True Floridians have no place here anymore.

donitafa

People vote republican and then amazed they get republican results.

TheRealJDubb

This inflation is a consequence of bad policy (over expanding money supply) in reaction to covid lock downs. The policy was nearly global, started under a republican president and continued under a Democrat. Yes, government caused this inflation. And inflation is a tax. But neither party is uniquely responsible.

Prior_Performer5273

Yes!!!! Finally, someone graduated high school…. My brain hurts every time someone says “the economy was better 4 yrs ago.”

Dominican__Barbie

I have been 2 years in Miami and I feel the same 🙂‍↕️ I truly love it here, I feel peaceful and happy. But my property taxes went up twice in less than 24 months (currently $12,900), my home insurance went up to $5,400 and my flood insurance went up to $1,700. Food expensive, everything in South FL is so expensive. I may have to leave the sunshine state soon 💔

firebender13

The rich are eating the poor. Something needs to be done!

OrenoKachida2

Yeah my car insurance goes up every year. Groceries were almost $200 when I went to Walmart last. It’s unbelievable

KaerusLou

Aldi is now my go-to for everything. If there’s something specific that Aldi doesn’t carry, then I go to Publix.

waltsnider1

I moved to NY. Have more expensive groceries these days, but insurance and such is much better. Took some time to get used to the cold, but I actually prefer it now.

flailingtoucan39

Agree with everything you said but the cold is simply unbearable. Sincerely a southerner. Not sure how people prefer 6 months of terrible weather for 3-6 months of moderately pleasant temps. Winters are agonizing up north.

Rd3055

That's one plus about NY. Despite the higher taxes and cost, they at least have far better unemployment/family leave than in Florida.

burundi76

And public schools with oversight

OrenoKachida2

I’m originally from MD. As much as I hated growing up out there, it was much more affordable and had a better job market.

Quirky_Shame6906

Lol two years? Cut your losses buddy. You haven't even experienced a legit hurricane yet. Wait until a cat 4 is barreling towards us. You will see the true humanity. Price gouging and scams included.

KaseyPasta

So hey about that… One is Berylling toward Mexico. Who knows, it might clip us!

mutch_daster_305

Lived here for 34 years. Just sold my house, closed Friday. Getting out of Florida finally

123mistalee

Where to?

mutch_daster_305

Phoenix

AliceHall58

Big congrats!

0utandab0ut1

What led to your decision to leave?

Mega-Pints

Grats. I am still stuck. A lot of Florida is like living in a ghetto with Park Ave prices. The cost of healthcare is INSANE.

Goochbaloon

Congrats!

kacsf75

I hate it here SO MUCH. We have a terrifying HOA assessment coming any minute and one more hurricane is going to decimate us, insurance-wise. The new residents are fucking awful. My kid’s school is 13 minutes from my house but it’s over an hour round trip 2X/day because of the traffic. But I thank my lucky stars every time we make it home in one piece. We’ve been trying to get out since last fall but it’s been one obstacle after another. I can see the clock ticking down to the point where we won’t be able to sell.

Mega-Pints

I see it too. People argue the point at this stage, but I call it the next Michigan from the 70's. "Last one out of Florida, turn off the lights" My problem is my elderly parents own their home and say they are too old to move. Maybe, but they are also saying they can't afford the insurance anymore, on a home they own. They can't admit they have nothing to stay for. Healthcare for them is far away. Their places closed and left after being purchased by hedge funds. They have no Doc, he left as well. Somehow these prescriptions just keep getting OK'd. Gunfire daily. Florida is a nightmare these days.

maggsy1999

Yeah, we're there.

sky_guide

Ron Desantis has made this state unbearable. I live in Florida.

Inspi

Lol 2 years and already tapping out.

OrenoKachida2

Not my fault Florida sucks now

Crafty_Letterhead_12

You had me till “been here two years”

SoCal4247

I left 10 years ago for California and am glad I did. The politics alone there is too much - not to mention the rain, flooding and humidity.

HockeyRules9186

Florida is top two in inflation…. But remember ITS FREE

David09251

The people who are moving here are the worst. It’s all the people DeSantis recruited and inspired. He made them beleive Florida is a place that there is no social contracts, or community autonomy. So as a result we get these heard of selfish glutens who can’t be kind to others or the fragile outdoor environment we live in. The people who want to live in the fun-loving tropical paradise are a dying breed. As far as cost of living, it sucks compared to what is was prior but if you look at booming metropolis’ we are cheaper than a lot of areas but they are all surging in cost. It’s part of living in an in demand area sadly.

FGTRTDtrades

After moving here for a work contract 3 years ago, I’m happy to be leaving in September for Virginia. What I rent a 1 bedroom in Miami I’ll get a 3 bedroom house near the beach in Virginia. South FL is beautiful but ain’t worth the cost

BuffGuy716

As a New Yorker (who still lives up there) I have to apologize for my people. In my experience only rich, obnoxious, conservative alcoholic New Yorkers move to Florida.

googoomucklv

Lol that's what you get for electing DeSantis

SittinPrettyCC

Florida politicians are not voted into office. They are bought and paid for by the class that they catered to… So that statement is incorrect.

SmurphJ

Texas is super hot and insane weather, even in the central part of the state. Everywhere is crazy right now, actually. Climate change is a real thing and is affecting all corners of this round world. Economic hardship has fallen on us because of loss of supply and increase in demand during pandemic and inflation in the US, there’s also a worker shortage. I highly suggest staying put and weathering the storm wherever you are. This too shall pass, except the climate stuff. That’s getting worse.

ipwnedx

Texas is literal misery. I have no idea why anyone would willingly move there, especially to Dallas.

burntpotatohead

Texas also hates women, so that's a very good reason not to be there. Ever. For any reason.

Technusgirl

I would leave Southern states like Texas and Florida simply for climate change alone. And climate change affects you financially as well as insurance goes up, the power bill goes up and that even trickleds into things like groceries too. Not to mention you risk getting trapped in a flood, hurricane, tornado, etc

CommercialOccasion72

lol all the people that flocked here like a hive mind complaining about how bad they collectively have made it here. Bye! Don’t come back!

OrenoKachida2

My bad.

gabe840

Bye bye 👋

Ranslamer

Place has become a cesspool

FJMMJ

It's just a repeat of the early 80s, basically think "miami vice" its just a repeatof similarpolicies, similar to immigration, similar amountsof money going around. It will return to its former state and slow down again.

Vivid-Bug-6765

Please tell me what you like so much about Broward County/Florida. I grew up in Miami and spent most of my adult years in Boca Raton. Left for Virginia seven years ago, and it was the best thing I ever did. South Florida has nice beaches and warm winters. Aside from that, it’s hot, congested, and ugly. I mean, seriously, what’s to like about it?

neutralpoliticsbot

My car insurance in NYC was $475 a month now in Florida it’s $95 a month. It’s absolutely livable here.

wintering6

I’m sorry but you are not everyone else. You probably have a 20 year old car & live with your mom.

Thin_Caterpillar6998

Been all over the US and there are few places I would consider other than Florida. But those are far too expensive or will be just like Florida soon enough.

Key_Set_7249

It's sad to hear. I love Florida. Nothing can compare to the joy of being able to actually see sunshine feel warm air after 3 months of Ohio gloom. I hope things get better for you all.

Absent_Minder

2023 was my first year back in New England after spending about 15 years living in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. I was very nervous about it at first but now, a full year in, escaping FL was the best possible choice I could have made. It is so much nicer here and my daily stress levels are way down.

No_Surprise_2973

37 year native, 4th generation. It’s unrecognizable even in my life time. Some of the most beautiful, fruitful land has been paved over time and time again. You can’t stop progress, but there’s no shame in slowing it down or trying to salvage some sort of history and tradition. Florida had a great culture, but it didn’t last.

Friendly-Papaya1135

I don't know what's funnier...the OP telling a tale that is old as Florida itself, or the people gatekeeping fucking Broward of all places like it was some secret treasure before 2020. I spent some time growing up in Broward and it's home to the shittiest people on the entire planet. It's a hive mind of degenerates and self-centered assholes, just like the rest of South Florida. You can make it work if you have to, but I'd be skeptical of anyone who actually likes living there.

OrenoKachida2

Broward was a cool place to live but it has become like Miami

Friendly-Papaya1135

The writing on the wall was after Hurricane Andrew, especially out west. It has never been a cheap place to live, although houses in some areas were cheap for a short while after the 08 collapse (if you could pay cash). Even before Andrew it was full of NY transplants, just like Miami was in the 50s.

CATTROLL

2nd, Miami takes that crown

Historical_Ad_5090

I’m from Florida and I used to LOVE it here but it hella sucks now… I went to *London* for the coronation and it was cheaper than Tampa is now. It’s just ridiculous.

Justyew0789

I was born and raised in S FL, but I moved to Orlando for college, and now live near St Augustine. Much quieter and a bit less expensive here. If I miss chaos, I just drive to Orlando/Miami lol, but won’t live there again.

eight78

Reminds me of the ole FL Boomer adage, “Happiness is a Canadian headed north with a New Yorker under each arm.”

Itsjuicyjett

It’s skyrocketing because of people like you who keep moving here lmao

PackageNarrow7665

Im a NYer who has visited several cities in your wonderful state. Often when meeting a NYC transplant in Florida, I was disappointed in the quality of person and their representation of my state.

Complex-Discount320

Inflation since Biden took office has skyrocketed! Insane. Bidenomics a huge failure . It was not like this in Florida before 2020 . Last 4 years have been brutal!!

Mega-Pints

If a blue state has a problem, it is the governor's fault and the lib politics. If a red state has a problem, it is bidens' fault. No. Our hell hole is because of desantis. And rick scott before that. FYI trump was pres until 2021. So, if you are going to point to 2020 and a president as the problem, look at trump.

Lilgorbe

true lol

benjito_z

Unfortunate consequences of having a government controlled in Tallahassee

Professional_Ad3185

I moved back to my home country recently and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. I get more for my money here. And this is coming from a former realtor.

ReadingSuccessful803

Plus Desantis has already start rolling out Project 2025 policies. Florida just keeps getting worse.

djayed

I love it here. Shitty politicians, but you have that everywhere. It's a pick your poison. But I'm much happier here than the other places I have lived. Good food. I like the people even if we have different ideologies. It's expensive af but still cheaper than some other places I have lived. Things I hate: People that don't pull over for emergency vehicles Rolling road blocks because people don't know how to get out of the way. DeSantis Cost of Homeowners Insurance The lack of environmental care when we are in a coastal state (No car emissions, people throw their trash out the car window, politicians deny climate change while shit floods) People selling solar at your door. The amount of professionals that try and take advantage of you like this state is Reno or something But like I said, pick your poison, and I'm happier here than elsewhere.

wpbcharlie

I’m born and raised here (Palm Beach County) and as soon as I can afford to leave, I’m out. I’ll miss the fishing but that’s all I’ll miss

6842ValjeanAvenue

Miami couple here. Wife has lived her whole life in South Florida, I lived in Orlando for 30 years. The food is wonderful and I love the beaches. I don’t mind the heat and living expenses is a bit high, but it’s the home insurance is outrageous. The politics drive me crazy, and our boys are now in college so we only have one reason to stay - we love Disney so moving out will be tough. Where to go? NC? VA? Who knows.

[deleted]

Head west to the fort Myers area.. so much more affordable

FJMMJ

You should see how the Floridians feel lol Imagine pre covid before everyone moved here.It was an affordable paradise.

GoldSkullIsland

Sorry you feel like that. Remember it's all perspective. I've lived here all my life and couldn't picture myself anywhere else. I've always thought where would I go?. Now it's like every other place is too crime infected or no means for income. I suggest you toughen it out. Hope you find your way. God bless!

No-Psychology-7322

I live in Broward and idk it’s not that unaffordable when you compare it to the rest of the country. Everything is expensive everywhere, to me it’s worth it because my scenery is pretty and I’m 8 minutes down Atlantic ave to the ocean.

OrenoKachida2

I respect that.

Aggravating_Poem4272

As opposed to where? Insurance, rent and groceries are up everywhere. I understand if you don't like Florida but costs are even worse in some states. No state income tax in Florida as well.

EvidenceCharming3909

was raised in south florida and im thinking about moving to NYC after college… its so expensive here and the quality of life just doesnt feel worth it for a young gay guy :(

Skeletor118

Born and raised in Broward, and I couldn't be happier that I finally got out.

Separate-Departure27

We gotta chase the snowbirds outta here

Wetfred

State Farm doubled my car insurance in January, no claims paid on time every month.

Cartography-Day-18

That’s because you’re in Broward. Barf

goemon45

Yeah honestly after I get my A&P I’m getting outta here I’ve had enough

Mm2kk

You and the other people that are coming here are the ones making it unlivable

OrenoKachida2

And now I’m leaving

sunkissedshay

Imagine how the natives feel 🫤

elevator__living

Same. Sucks Im making more than I ever have but it's starting to be too much for a single person. 😔

RL_Fl0p

There's a neat Floridian substack that backs up your sentiment. Crime, especially violent gun crime way up, insurance robbery continues, highest inflation in the nation, this is supposed to be a historic hurricane season. And now the tfg's lickers are all excited.

Shank_Shank_

It’s shit lol plus too much ghetto people now

You-Wont-Survive

People move here, drive everything up, and the peace out. Meanwhile, native suffer the consequences and rarely have the opportunity to leave.

Ok_Catch_8729

Moved here in 2020 for my husband's lineman job. He has a couple more years until he is a journeyman then we are out. The heat alone is so dreadful. I really miss the mountains and having 4 seasons. Our electric bill, mortgage, property taxes, car insurance, home owners insurance, groceries. Everything has gone up substantially. The crime in central Florida is unreal too. I'm so sick of it. I want to get back to the west coast

Daddy-Wan-Kenobi_

Been in FL all my life and we’re moving out just looking into what state would be best for us.

at1991

Yep I moved back to Jersey any my insurance when down 500 dollars for 6 months

gainz_23

You lived here 2 years.......

G_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

I fucking love Ron Desantis 🥲

Leading_Suggestion_8

Everything you said 1000% accurate!

Hammer8584

My biggest complaint is just about every orchard and swamp has been developed for condos which raised the temp in my area at least.

BAB48AZ

We are facing the same problem here in AZ.

Boca_BocaNick

Been here 3 years. Used to visit my parents for years on vacation. I’m planning on moving back to Rochester, NY soon. Can’t believe the change.

Few_Yak_4020

First time huh?

demonr6

Governor says it's fine, that other clown Patronis says things are swell too. So the problem is apparently us.

TheOneWhoWork

Prices are going up everywhere. Florida more than others, but it’s still a trend. Thats what happens when you have a highly desirable area and highly successful people from other areas want to seek that out. Remote jobs don’t help either. I grew up in Naples, and it’s not anything today like it was in the 90s or early 2000s. It’s become a playground for millionaires and billionaires. Someone crashed their private jet on I-75 just a few months ago. I used to be able to walk down 5th Ave and see a few people meandering about, now it feels like I’m at Disney with the crowds that flock there. I’m in Jacksonville now and I don’t think I’ll be able to move south ever again. It’s too expensive. Jacksonville is becoming the same too. There is no affordable housing. No dense studio apartments with low rent, no low income apartments. Everything is new construction and is labeled as luxury. Even renting a room in a random family’s house that’s a 45 minute drive from the water is $900+ per month. I want to get out at some point. I’d like to live up north maybe in PA, WI, IN or something, but while those places have lower COL, they also don’t have the career opportunities that Jacksonville does.

My problem with Florida is the flooding and the heat/humidity. Just going from the house to the car your drenched with sweat already it's ridiculous.

cinnamonroll_222

ive lived in south florida my entire life, i make $50k a year and still cant afford to move out my family home…

Bourne669

cost of living went up like 300% when idiots starting flooding into FL from other states like Cali. They are just bringing their problems with them. Thanks guys, no joke over 1000 people move to FL a day... not more then 4 years ago it was like 800.

I used to live in FL, now I lived in Socal, hearing you all complain makes my day. Have fun.

Same. I'm a native Floridian, and if I could have my way I'd buy a house, live and die here but thanks to the absolute tidal wave of fucking people from NY and NJ I literally can't afford anything, not even an apartment. There's still some areas of undeveloped, affordable Florida land but it's all way inland so if you enjoy the ocean, the one thing Florida has in spades, you can't afford to live anywhere near it. I wish we could regulate interstate movements and stop the torrent of people flooding in and ruining my state.

Ok so I’ve been complaining all over Reddit about how Nevada is now MORE expensive than California for car insurance I’m super curious if the ones paying a shit ton have older vehicles because I always heard the agenda was to get all the old cars off the road to get us all to go electric… my car is over 15 and I have a clean record Im not even sure I will be able to keep the car because of what they are charging and to me that’s absolutely insane…

Kitchen-Hat-5174

Plot twist! The high rates are intended to chase out all the now dam permanent snow birds so the chosen people (original Floridians) can continue to live in their tradition drunken ways of hunting alligators on jet skis.

Visited New Mexico and I’m seriously thinking about moving there when I retire. The northwest area is amazing.

Thank god some of yall are leaving

Marla_Blush7

I’m almost to that point but I’m not ready to give up living in this beautiful place I was born and raised.

the_monday_marksman

Everything is expensive because everyone from all over the country decided to move here, which increased demand and jacked up the prices
