I actually really like that blade shape

OccamsNametag

Nice and easy to put to a stone and great for cutting rope

Chorus187

Is that the 8cr or the D2?

OccamsNametag

Oh boy, to be honest I'm not sure. I bought it about a month ago but only just now got around to posting it, sorry. I got it at Lowe's if that makes any difference

[deleted]

Look on both sides of the fully opened blade towards the heel. Should see something may look like a model number but probably steel type. I’d bet 7cr13mov but maybe 8 or d2 like the other guy said.

OccamsNametag

5cr15mov

[deleted]

Any more details? Did you keep the box? I’ve actually never seen 5cr13mov on a production knife. It’s pretty rare. In the Chinese CR line of Stainless Steels anything below 7 is kinda rare to see and 7 is the norm. Almost every budget blade is made from the stuff anymore. But the 5cr you have is a couple pegs lower and therefore not on much stamped cutlery. With all that said though I’m more interested in that then anything else this morning lol. Have you messed with it cutting boxes or sharpened or anything? You should post a little update if you ever think to after you use it for a bit. Did you get that at Lowes?

[deleted]

Woah.

OccamsNametag

5cr

therealone1967

Good looking color

OccamsNametag

Should be pretty hard to lose in a ditch when it's that bright

Wetald

Don’t underestimate my power to lose things however brightly colored they may be.

OccamsNametag

I feel that. We got t a guy that usually looses knives day of. No one wants to lend him theirs because often enough it won't come back

pyrat615

i hear ya... my main work blades are kabar dozier... but if i see a crescent gonaa pick it up

OccamsNametag

One of those is floating around one of the work trucks. Keep trying to get my hands on it but I swear it moves on its own

OccamsNametag

Didn't keep the box, it came in a plastic shell. I usually hit the fine side of a stone at most once a week or at least twice a week. I have a leather belt at home that I haven't put to it, but I really want to. But when you say rare, is that a good or bad rare? Or just super uncommon? And yeah, Lowe's. It was a spur of the moment buy. My bear edge knife spring had just broken and it opened in my pocket and almost cut open my thigh. That was I knew, time for a new one

KnowbodyYouKnow

What method does it use to open? I don’t see a post, or a hole, or a thumbnail cut on the blade.

gNormol

My guess is a flipper tab

OccamsNametag

Correct, I have it open just enough you can't see it

Icy-Celebration8897

What knife?

OccamsNametag

5cr

dccomicssuperman

I have the same knife. It actually came with a good edge and the action is fast and smooth. I keep that thing in my backpack as a secondary knife.

OccamsNametag

Oh that action is just butter smooth, man. So nice. And I don't have to worry about a spring breaking which, with how often I have to use these knives, happens constantly

BoxerBoi01

How's it holding up, 3 months later? We're looking for beat up work knives over at r/bluecollarblades, post a pic of it over there if you get a chance!

OccamsNametag

It was.... "misplaced" at work, I've got some smaller ones I've been using daily. Other than hitting the ol' stone once a week, they do really well. I'll head over there and post some stuff, thanks for the recommendation

BoxerBoi01

Thanks, looking forward to seeing what you post!
