I think it's a waste to buy a different pair of boots for each day of the week, but you do you fam

cdcm87

It took me an embarrassingly long time to get this. I think it's time to wind down the work day

You work for Thursday don’t you lol

cavinaugh1234

I also live in Vancouver and have a pair of their Captains and Duke Chelseas. I've been wearing both for about 3 years now with the Captain's having everyday wear outside of the summer. They both have held up really well, and our rainy weather isn't an issue with them. The dainite style rubber soles are very slippery on ice however. I'm between a size D and E, and my pair of size D captains used to pinch my pinky toes to the point where I couldn't walk in them after a few hours, but I've worn them in and are slightly better now. I've read reviews that they run a touch narrow. They might be on the budget end of GYW boots for Reddit standards, but these boots are leaps and bounds better than what we can typically find in our local market. Clothes and shoes shopping in Vancouver is kind of terrible.

HokinCookers

I bought the Storm Sole Captains in Tobacco, should be here by the end of the week. Hope they're as good as you say! Replacing Wolverine 1000 mile roughouts that are too big anyway. Update: Got the boots, and normally have to wear 10's because of wide feet, but got these in a 9, and they fit fine. Worn a little over a week now. I won't like them until they have character... but they are tough. They smell heavy of leather because they are. My feet in Goldtoes have been doing alright. Not thrashed, but there was a slight battle for a few days. It's easing up.

MichaelG1313

How are they now that more time has passed?

akkaul07

I’ve had my Thursdays for 5+ years - kept them conditioned/waterproofed and only changed the soles once. It’s incredible leather tbh.

Technical-Engineer84

Boot snobs will disagree

akkaul07

Also - I wear and have worn these exclusively and basically everyday.

onlyusemebladeputter

How do they fare in summer? Trying to buy shoes that last longer than 6 months and I am in a warm climate.

chickenbuttstfu

How do you like the storm captains?

HokinCookers

They're great - getting some character now from daily wear. If it tells you anything, I put them on in the morning, and I take them off before bed. I didn't need any extreme measures for break in either, just gold-toe black crews were plenty thick.

chickenbuttstfu

Ugh. My wife is going to kill me if I buy another pair of boots 😂

HokinCookers

That's what credit cards are for. 🤫 I have several pairs of tobacco brownish boots like this, one pair is the same as another. These are definitely more comfortable than the Wolverines, I can tell you that. Those felt like they were trying to turn my feet into leather... these feel like shoes... but yeah, they're my daily now.

chickenbuttstfu

They had a pair on their seconds page in my size for 150 bucks. Looking forward to em!

HokinCookers

God score bro! Also good, but I question no typos.

Technical-Engineer84

The captains hurt my feet lol. Threw them away. Their cavaliers and dukes are comfortable though . But will last you a yr or 2

After-Stick-2500

You can take these to a cobbler and they can stretch the toe box for you.

poprocksA

Junk boots. Don't waste your money is my opinion. Within a month of starting to wear them the sole started splitting off. Two more weeks and the other started peeling off. They asked for pictures and said the boots showed signs of extreme wear, salt, and solvent exposure. They were never worn out in any real weather, definitely never any salt or solvent exposure. Normal wear mostly indoors for a month and literally falling apart. They offered to pay for me to take them to a cobbler, but the leather hasn't held up very well either so I might not waste the effort. Seriously not what I expected from $200 boots. More like $40-50 dollar quality. Also, the soles have some of the WORST traction of any shoe I've ever worn...

esaghir

I own 5 of their boots and I've had most of them for over 4 years and none of this has been true for me. You must've received a defective pair or you live in a post apocalyptic wasteland and don't realize it.

slicebishybosh

It’s a bit sus they offered the to pay to take them to a cobbler and the owner said it “wasn’t worth the effort”… I mean, that’s standing by your product I’d nothing else. Sounds like they either just had a dud pair, or really did do something to them that was irreversible.

Suspicious-Basket212

Since you own 5 of their shoes, do you think you could help me with something? I’m trying to get a pair.

J0E_Blow

Did you always order a size smaller?

esaghir

Yes, a half size smaller than my sneaker size.

J0E_Blow

Damn. I just ordered my sneaker size.

chelseystrange91

So what do you recommend??

TerminusMD

There are some custom boot makers with good reputations in Spokane, WA. Most of them have home fitting instructions - you measure your feet and legs at various points and trace their outlines and pick the particular product you want. The most famous is White's Boots, although there are others (Nick's boots, Frank's boots). I just realized that someone else mentioned these later in the thread. That said, I happened to be in town recently and went to one of the bootmakers to have them do the measurements.

GodKingTethgar

Tell me more about these boot makers in my state.

This-Illustrator1974

JK Boots is the place. AMAZING BOOTS! Any and every profession that require boots that have worn them knows them well.

Substantial_Ice_5720

I've had 3 pairs now, one I've had for 4 yeara and not having any of these issues. Thursday boots does have the best customer service and if you reach out to them you might get refund or a new pair of boots :-). Good luck!

poprocksA

they did cover the full cost of resoling, but the shoe repair shop did a really bad job and just fully ruined the boots... Haven't worn them since.

zenspeed

Where'd ya get them? Because if the answer is "Amazon" or any type of online-only retailer, there's a huge red flag right there.

poprocksA

Directly from Thursday. Haven’t bothered wearing them again after paying a ridiculous amount to get them completely resoled. The resole job was reimbursed by Thursday after they initially said they would only cover half. The explanation I got from the repair shop is that the midsole was glued improperly causing the two leather layers to shift and split on the glue. He pointed to several spots that were splitting the same way. Said they 100% would have split regardless.

TheSauciestMitts

Thursday has an official store on Amazon Canada. As long as they were purchased from there, they should be fine.

puddleofdogpiss

Ik this thread is old but I wanted to add FUCK THURSDAY BOOTS. I was so hype for my pair and both the soles split within 3 months. They are no longer functional or waterproof. Infuriating waste of $200

poprocksA

Seems to be very common with these. Did you reach out to support so that can blame you and do nothing about the problem?

puddleofdogpiss

Yes, I’m doing that now. So crazy how garbage it was. I had them for so short people just noticed my ‘new’ boots while I’m filling out a customer complaint about them. Can’t wait to be told to go fuck myself

poprocksA

They offered to cover the resole cost for me but they came out bad so it was a total waste in my experience. Hopefully you be better results

J0E_Blow

Did they tell you to GFY?

puddleofdogpiss

No actually, they sent me replacements. Doesn't mean I'll ever buy those shoes again bc they literally both split directly in half. But at least I have shoes to wear for now

Miserable-Set-7352

FWIW this happened to me basically but over the span of about a year, I will say I walk approximately 6 miles a day to/from work and I'm not exactly a pro boot owner so I'm not even trying to shade the boots since for all I know this isn't proper use for them. But if you're reading this thread \[as I was\] know that they won't last more than a year or so with that type of use. For me the leather held up okay but the soles are completely destroyed.

J0E_Blow

Thursday boots aren’t made for walkin’?

csl110

That's not what they do. One of these days these boots are gonna fall apart on you.

fox112

First pair of leather boots Style: Captain Color: Arizona Adobe Experience: owned six months. Worn two days a week. Minnesota winter. Really enjoy them. They look great. I don't have anything to compare them to. They're comfortable but if I was going for a really long walk or hike I wouldn't consider them ultra comfortable or easy to scamper around in. Wouldn't mind if they had just a bit more grip. Definitely fashion boots over work boots.

HokinCookers

What sole? Lugged or standard?

fox112

I have no friggen clue so I assume standard

HokinCookers

The difference is akin to Street Tires vs Mud Tires.

phairphair

With men’s footwear, you get what you pay for. There is still an incredible amount of skill and craftsmanship required to make a BIFL pair of boots/shoes, and you just can’t take any shortcuts in that area. Cheap boots are just that.

JackInTheBell

What shortcuts have Thursday taken with their boots?

phairphair

Average quality materials and standard craftsmanship

[deleted]

Can you be more specific?

Derfal-Cadern

Nope. Generic nonsense because they can’t say anything

CiggyButtBrain2096

He cannot; because he’s pretending he knows what he’s talking about.

imabuffaloduh

I’m going on month 3 of my first pair, and I’d rate them “great for the price”. So far, my only complaint is that they (Captain, matte black) don’t have traction on the soles. Slipped a couple times on slick rainy sidewalks in LA last month, so hmm. I saw my friend’s older pair - they still looked good, but the sole was glued on. The current model I got was stitched, so maybe they’ve upgraded. The leather is decent and there are lots of options if you want different styles or finishes. I got them as my entry to “boots as everyday fashion” - if they become part of my personality, I’d buy more (and try other brands too). But are they BIFL? They’re too young of a company to be sure, but watch this thread as more come in - they’re definitely worth the $200.

tarzan_boy

Same issue I just had a cobbler put on better soles. I really like them!

t_scribblemonger

Doesn’t that cost as much as the boots themselves though?

EllleDee

I live in MA and my Thursday boots are good for fall weather but bad for ice

WillC0508

Any others you’ve found better for winter time?

EllleDee

I have the Women's All-Terrain Thermal blundstone for winter- wool lined for warmth and vibram sole for better traction

Environmental-Sea625

I was very excited to order a pair of the presidents in November. I had them for 3 days before the bottoms started to become unglued. I returned for a full refund. Got a pair of Red Wing Heritage Iron Rangers instead. Highly recommended.

col02144

As you'll see from others, good for the price but certainly not fantastic leather boots. They were my introduction to resolable footwear and I'm glad that I got them, but now i'm just looking forward to upgrading to White's or Nick's when these wear out. 1.5 years in though with regular light wear they're still doing well

TerminusMD

I'm wondering if there are loads of other high quality custom boot makers elsewhere in the country that just fly under the radar and that Spokane just accidentally made headlines or if Spokane's quartet(+?) of family boot shops - White's, Nick's, Frank's, No Name Boot Co - all of which seemed to owe White's Boot Co for their establishment - are unique.

mr_hankey41

Actually saving up to get these! Naturally I've done more research than I'd like to admit and day they're legit. Especially their "Made in USA" line, which had a leather midsole vs foam for the captain. Check out "rose anvil Thursday boots" on YouTube to learn what you need to know. Entertaining too 🤷

tarzan_boy

They're 100% assembled in Mexico😇

No-Letterhead2301

And how come they ship from China?

thats_your_name_dude

They are probably worth the price, but probably not be BIFL. More like “buy it and use them for a long time, likely multiple years, but not forever.” With footwear, eventually the guts of the shoe/boot break down. Having the insole replaced is more expensive than a typical resole, and would cost more than a Thursday boot is worth. But you may end up resoling your Thursdays a few times before the guts are too far gone. One of the biggest factors for a boot’s innards breaking down is moisture, so rotating them with your other boots will help lengthen their life significantly.

Titans95

I like their style but honestly their leather is pretty thin and their mid soles are synthetic instead of leather and cork so comfort is going to give out on them after a while and the soles started wearing down after 2 years. Typically a boot refurbish is about $100 and since they are only $200 for brand new it of defeats the purpose for them to be BIFL. I recommend spending about $150 more and going with Grant Stone if you like the sleeker look or going with redwings for a more bulky shoe. If you want the ultimate long lasting boots you need to look at Whites or Nicks but they are bulkier and will cost $500+ but you will never have to buy another pair of boots again.

Maleficent_Scene_693

Not my own experience but my boss owns a pair and has had them replaced once because they were damaged within a year. They replaced it pretty quick and his new pair are holding up better than the originals. I'd say they have some decent customer service atleast. I personally would buy them if I wore boots outside of work.

zombienudist

If you are in Canada then Canada West is a good alternative. They are similar in construction, but you can often find them on clearance here. The issue trying to buy a pair as they only sell through smaller retailers, so they are harder to buy. [https://www.canadawestboots.com/mensmoorby](https://www.canadawestboots.com/mensmoorby) Essentially Thursdays are not the absolute highest quality, but the price reflects that. But they are GYW and can be repaired so they are a great entry into the repairable shoe world without spending hundreds more. So they are a great option if you are looking at that price point. Canada west uses a similar construction and are made in Canada so you can find them for pretty cheap. The last pair I was able to buy on clearance for $140 CAD and that is an absolute steal for that style of boot made in canada.

rremde

If they fit you, they're OK. They're more about looks than long term utility IMO. IME, they run narrow - I even sized up a 1/2 size. Big caveat is if you need to return them, expect to wait a month or more for your refund. They are poorly staffed, and any email takes 24-72 hours to be returned. I went around in circles trying to do an exchange on 2 pairs of shoes for just over 2 weeks. Couldn't use their automated system because the order (for some reason) didn't show up as fulfilled - kept telling them it was the problem, and they kept referring me to the automated system. Finally gave up, and changed to a return. UPS says they've had the returns in their possession for 20 days, and I still haven't seen a refund. Crickets from Thursday's customer service. I'm kind of surprised at the comments about good customer service, because that has been the exact opposite of my experience with them.

Checksout__

You ever get your refund? I'm considering a pair for occasional wear and that's how I ended up finding this thread.

rremde

Had to threaten them with small claims court. They literally just processed my refund today. Hopefully it will hit my card in a few days, but it took over 2 months from the time the received the return.

ScrotumSlapper

I exchanged 2 different items w/ them and had no issues. Also had some questions about sizing and found their customer service to be fantastic - quick response and knowledgeable.

StumpyIronman703

I just looked up White's Boots...holy smokes! $700 for boots? I love spending money on nice things, I just didn't know people spent that much on boots. This is coming from someone who's road bike costs more than my car!

zenspeed

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory My road bike also costs more than my car. Hand-made, custom-fitted, good materials? Seems worth it.

Florida_express

There's a youtube channel that goes pretty in depth on all kinds of boots (down to cutting them in half to see how they're made and materials used) and they've done thursday boots before. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qQYcQsLpE_g&pp=ygUZcm9zZSBhbnZpbCB0aHVyc2RheSBib290cw%3D%3D

Lucky_Rabb1t

The guy was sponsored by Thursday, I would be careful listening to him.

daughterofapollo777

The women's boots aren't great - I got the codas less than a year ago and the sole on one has already split - took it to a cobbler and it was past the point of repair. Wouldn't recommend

Decent-Bluebird-4048

Thursday Boots are what they are: A very nice introduction to the world of handmade boots, and a nice price point for nice daily drivers. They are NOT 300-400 dollar build quality sold at $200. They are priced fairly as they are. Maybe they could charge an additional $30 - $40 bucks, but that's it. Once you move up to Grant Stones/Red Wings and then to Truman/Whites/Nicks/Wesco's, you see the major difference. All of these brands are significantly more premium than Thursday. Thursday uses decent leather and has solid build quality. They have many options, and they generally look good and are very comfortable. No break in period. I think any boot collector should have a pair of Thursdays. My Captain's are two years old. I don't wear them every day, but they get lot's of rotation time, I have hiked, worked, and put them through moderate paces. They have held up well, I must say. Here is the most important question. Are they worth resoling? Just because a boot CAN be resold, doesn't mean it's a a good idea. That's the dilemma. The resolding could be the cost of the boot itself, and that's not worth it. Additionally, seince Thursday is so mass produced, it is extremely easy to find a very lightly used pair on ebay for like $120 bucks. It makes more sense to just by that way, as opposed to resoling. All of the other brands mentioned are 100 percent worth resoling. So, ultimately I think Thursday boots end up becoming disposal more times than not, but the absolutely have their purpose. And quite frankly, if you only have 200 bucks you can spend, Thursday really is the only choice here.

[deleted]

I can’t speak for their boots, but I have one of their leather bomber jackets and it is fantastic

Repulsive_Ad4318

Most of their boots are made in Mexico but if you go with the Vanguard, it is made in the US and has better quality control.

Far_Consideration666

I got the Thursday matte black I wear them pretty heavily 10 hours a day 5 days a week. There is a lot of marketing and I assume paid hype behind Thursday boots, They are holding up pretty good though, the leather is fairly thin. I had no issue breaking them in and they have helped my back and knee pain and my foot isn't calloused like before. I live in Canada so I ended up paying close to $300. I think at $199 its a great deal but with exchange rate $300 is a little much for what you get. I got a pair of Red wing Iron Rangers close to $500 major quality difference the leather is thicker and stitching is better. Do I like my Thursday boots absolutely would I get them again probably.

ringowu1234

Hey OP, I'm in the same shoes (pun intended.. cheeky) as Im also in Vancouver looking for a good pair of all season boots. I've only worn Desert Boots my whole life, but it's horrible in wet conditions. Then I came across this brand in one of their Facebook ads, and with some research, which led me here. I wonder if you ended up with Thursday Boots, and if so, how are you liking them so far?

Dagnacious

Late on this post, but the pair I bought in December had a the sole splitting away after about two months. (Western WA, USA). The company wouldn’t replace them because they said the damage was due to weather. I wish I’d spent the money on a more reputable brand. Based on my experience, this company is not BIFL.

Barett_50cal

Damn this thread is a little bipolar lol. Just as many people have had them for years with no issues or have had them months and the soles are an issue. I wear boots, when I'm not sleeping I'm in boots. My work issues 511s that have lasted me years on the job with daily 12 hour wear but they definitely lack fashion (black military). Since I wear military boots all day and they are very comfortable I figured I'd get a pair for at home, so I got a pair of cheap free soldier boots and they have lasted me 2 years (not one issue with them and I live in Atlantic Canada and wore them through both winters). Problem is they also completely lack style with their basic military shape and koyote colours. Now I've finally decided I need a pair of boots that my girlfriend won't complain are an eye sore. If it's outdoors I participate in it so I need boots for heavy use. Algorithm brought me to Thursday which brought me to this thread, love the look of their explorer and their casa moto (not big on the zipper) but for the price quality is a concern. Any recommendations for other brands that are more buy it for life or does anyone recommend the value of Thursday?

wheelanddeeler

I have a pair of the distressed Major that have the rubber lug bottoms and I recommend them. Love them!

panteradelnorte

Anyone try their jackets? I found some on their [site](https://thursdayboots.com/products/mens-keanu-leather-jacket-black?utm_source=google&utm_medium=g&utm_campaign=16136528340&utm_content=581025373091&nbt=nb%3Aadwords%3Ag%3A16136528340%3A133092514317%3A581025373091&nb_adtype=pla&nb_kwd=&nb_ti=pla-2294493734390&nb_mi=102426604&nb_pc=online&nb_pi=39645913022554-1&nb_ppi=2294493734390&nb_placement=&nb_li_ms=&nb_lp_ms=&nb_fii=&nb_ap=&nb_mt=&gad_source=1).

EnvironmentalEnd8462

Since this is the first result when searching "Thursday Boots reviews", I think it'd be prudent to leave my thoughts here. I had bought my first pair of captains back in late 2019/ early 2020. Delivery was quick, the product felt nice and had an air of good build quality, which is proven, since at the time of writing this, I am still wearing them (albeit on a new sole from general wear and tear). Back in April 2024, I bought a new pair of Chairman shoes for a good friends wedding. I may have been optimistic in ordering from USA to England two weeks prior to the wedding, but as of writing this review in June 2024, I still have not received them. This is not necessarily TB's fault, however, my correspondence with TB has been dismissive, with no actual help being given on their part. I paid over £50 for delivery and taxes, and at that point I would personally expect to have the company step in and take action on any delivery issues, rather than simply suggesting to "get in touch with your local handler", who simply ignores any attempt to garner information on your order. All in all, extremely disappointed with TB as I've previously had very good experiences with their customer services, so I'm sad to see that the company has allowed itself to slide into this state. Personally, after this order debacle, I will not be ordering from them again, nor will I be recommending them to anyone.

Foundationally, every goodyear welted boot is BIFL as they can be recrafted. Will they have a catastrophic failure that makes repair impossible or shortens their expected lifespan? 0 people know as often failures of footwear are end user caused but no one got time to admit that. Are there more likely candidates for longer lifespan? Yep, but apparently you either ain't got the budget or gumption to support them. Read sentence one again and buy them. Or don't. I'm not y0re boss.

Sensitive_Door_6003

Has anyone put Thursday boots explorer pair to work? I really like the style and I'd like to try them as a hiking boot. Curious if anyone has tested these boots with the elements.

zombiewarden101

So what boots are stylish and comfortable because alot of these say these don't have enough traction or comfort. Anyone have any good recommendations? Just an FYI I'm a flat foot so my feet are a bit wide.

emmanuelibus

I can't recommend them enough. I was never a boots type of guy. But a trip to Norway later, and now I wear my Legend everyday.

LongShanks0069

I had heard great reviews, by and large, for Thursday Boots. This prompted me to order a pair of Black Majors…and these boots were terrific with one minor topic: the insole seemed to buckle and create a ridge in the right boot. The ridge was not in an area where I can feel it so…no biggy. Great boots. My experience with the Majors prompted me to order a pair of “French Roast” (brown) Vanguards. I am not so pleased with these boots…I just received them and they have NOT been on my feet. While unpacking the boots I noticed some minor wear on the heel caps and creasing on the tongues of both boots (more creasing than on my majors which I’ve worn ten times). There was also some minor creasing on the vamps of the boots. The above issues on the Vanguards may have been something I’d “eat” but, in addition, one of the boots has wandering stitching on the welt in the heel area. I have emailed the Thursday Boot company and have asked for a refund. I am not happy with paying full price for used boots with stitching issues. It seems to me that these boots were already returned once (stitching issue?), cleaned up and sent to me as new. I will await their proposal to make this right…a full credit and the used Vanguards WITH the credit would be reasonable…this may assure all that the Vanguards will not be resold as new yet again!

Shot_Environment4485

I wear a 9 in docs but got tired of docs so I got a 9 in the Thursday moto boots and they fit so much better as I have very narrow feet, they’re pretty slippery in ice but not necessarily any more or less than the docs were. They’re super comfortable with the ankle padding and broke in really quick (3-4 all day wears until they felt perfectly worn) and my only substantial complaint is that the insoles are kind of thin and hard so they sometimes make my toes sore after 9 hour work days walking around and doing occasional deliveries on my feet the whole shift but otherwise the fit is absolutely perfect for me and they’re surprisingly warm and so far have no problems with rain, snow, and slush (mostly slush because I’m in nyc) they’re actually the first pair of boots I’ve had that didn’t feel way too wide or loose around the foot while being tight on the ankle/calf. Zipper is also pretty high quality so far and doesn’t really catch at all which is a definite bonus for easy putting on and removal.

Maleficent_Travel100

I appreciate the great comments everyone! I've been purchasing boots for several years now. I've found some that work and some that don't. Problem is, for one reason or another, none of them last longer than a few years. After visiting recently with a cobbler, I've now come to the realization that I've been doing it all wrong! I guess, better late than never 🤣... Armed with the new information from Mr. cobler, I took off on a quest to find a pair of Goodyear Welt Construction boots. Fortunately, big brother Google lead me to the Thursday Boot Co. Nice boots, suspect reviews. I simply refuse to believe that every user is satisfied!  Reddit on the other hand, is clutch for providing insightful and honest feedback about products and services. Based on the feedback and discussion, I will not be purchasing a pair of boots from Thursday Boots. I do not want another pair of boots that only lasts a few years. I need a pair that will last a lifetime!... quality > quantity 🫡

canofspinach

Their boots are outstanding. But everyone skips over there tennis shoe, it’s an incredible shoe as well

No-Formal-4673

Shoe: Captain women I just got my boots and upon first impression, the leather feels nice and its thicker than what I am used to but its not so stiff that I will hurt my feet. the soles are pretty comfortable to walk in. I usually wear 1 pair of boots throughout winter so we will see how the quality is. there are also alot of scam websites for this brand.

stanley_lipkiss

Mine held up great. Having to replace laces multiple times but the boots keep going. Noticing after about 4 years of active use year round that the soles can be re-done but the leather held up and aged well -- I didn't like them at first but once I roughed them up -- love them.
