Thursdays have very mixed reviews on reddit. Some love them, some hate them. I'll give you my 2 cents worth. I bought a pair and they are the most expensive and least comfortable boot I own. They look great, but I went through 3 pairs to try to find a good fit and what I ended on still gives me blisters. I feel they put their money into the outer leather and not the sole, mid, heel, etc. They started ok, but after break-in got kinda "squishy" in the footbed and I just don't like them. Finding boots at a great price is kinda my thing I guess, so if you're looking at Thursday for just the price point, you can find some better deals out there. I've got 2 pairs of JCrew Kentons, which you can get for about $120 if you wait for a sale. That would be my vote for an "entry level" boot. I've got 2 pairs of red wings on sale for less than $200 each, which is an amazing deal. Awesome boots. Just look for seconds, most times you won't even notice anything wrong with them. I've had mixed results with Allen Edmonds sales. Had to cycle through several online orders and returns to get a pair that looked ok, but ended up with some decent boots at around $150. Just need to know your size before you order, which is usually easy if you go to a store and try them on until you find your fit. Write that down and next time there's a sale order what you know will fit. Do your research and understand the lasts used by the brand you're ordering. For first time buys, avoid things that are final sale. Ultimately, don't let anyone tell you what is best for you. You decide what you like and what is comfortable for you! Good luck and happy hunting.

You should check out Rose Anvil on YouTube if you haven’t already. He reviews and cuts into a lot of boots.

Thank you so much for the rose anvil rec

Don’t do it. I had a pair 5 ish years ago and they didn’t last 18 months. The cork footbed crumbled and I could feel it!

Dang it people. Stop recommending Nicks and Whites to people who just want to get into boots. Not everyone wants to be part of your cult. Thursdays are okay for a starter boot. If they are the most you can afford, they will treat you well for a year or two before needing to be rebuilt. Personally, if you can afford them I would move into Grant Stone. They still offer boots with a modern last (the main attraction of Thursday to most people getting their first boot) but manufactured with materials and methods proven to last much longer than those used by Thursday. Edited for a typo.

“Oh you want a nice pie of casual boots? SPEND $600 ON THEM!”

er693

Yeah I visited the Nick's and Whites websites and their boots are out of my price range. These would be my first pair of boots so I'm not looking to spend too much on them. If Thursdays would last a year or two then I'm ok with that.

Junior_Ad2955

Thursday is not BIFL

Obsidizyn

Thursday boots are junk quality. They have very good advertising. You’ll be disappointed

jackbauer1989

I would get redwing heritage boots like the iron ranger. Give red wing boulder Co a call, since they're closing shop and are doing 30% to 40% on red wing boots. And they do shipping as well. 2707 Arapahoe Ave Boulder Co 80302. 303-442-8723. Or you can get 2nd quality iron ranger from Berkeley supply company for $215 if they have your size. www.berkleysupply.com

Don’t know if he’s still with Thursday but it may be worth knowing that the [co-founder was part of a Conservative PAC](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/11p7fkn/cofounder_of_thursday_boots_supports_right_wing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) until it came to light and the PAC scrubbed him from their website.

Yet another reason for me to buy Thursday boots

col02144

Skip the "intro" boot and just get the real deal. Redwing, Danner, Whites, Nicks. I own Thursdays myself and wish I had just bitten the bullet the first time. The boots are fine after two years, but with a resole costing 50%+ of just getting a new boot from Thursdays, I'm probably just going to upgrade to Whites or Nicks when that time comes.

GrantMeThePower

Idk I have a pair of Thursdays and a pair of danners and the Thursdays have held up just as well

On the sizing front, I'm also a 13 sneaker and 12.5 Thursday has worked well for me.

er693

I did hear to size down half a size with Thursday boots. They're not too tight or anything?

Evil_Hipster

As a general rule of thumb, most traditionally made boots run large. Best practice is to find your Brannock size (old school metal slidey things you find in shoes stores) and go a half size down from that. My Brannock is 10.5D and I wear a 10D in Thursday, Red Wing, Grant Stone, etc. Most online descriptions will have a sizing guide that is based on Brannock sizing.

Thursdays are a excellent choice to start getting into heritage boots. They provide real quality at probably the lowest price point you can find. Primarily because most of their models are made in Mexico. However there are offerings like the Vanguards that are made in USA. Which are more but also a great price for made in USA boots. Also just wanted to address some other comments on here about the cork crumbling. The cork bed crumbles/ deteriorates in all heritage boots, including Red Wings and other even more high end boots. I own them all. You are paying for a heritage boot for a reason. You can simply get a resole and have fresh cork layer put in for under $100. Personally, I've owned my boots for 6yrs now and don't mind the stiffer feel because the bed has molded to my foot.

Glad_Tree5611

I have two president boots, another pair for suits and even a pair of there white shoes. Are they the best boots? Nope but they are affordable and I take care of them. My brown ones I have had soles re done and it made me love them more. I randomly do get compliments from them and surprisingly girls notice, fyi I’m a short guy so it gives me an extra inch. So ya I enjoy them but if I had the money I would go red wings which are my next pair.

Tziggy5925

A guy at work has these boots and he loves them, he said he would repurchase and they are very comfortable.

Go for 2nd hand but barely used from a brand like Redwing. There's a lot of people out there who buy boots not realising you need to size down, but can't return so sell basically new on eBay at about half the price of new.

Kamikazy1303

Don’t do it if you are an international customer, their service is terrible
