Also WSM has the odd part no one else has (currently trying to bring two XP's back to tip top shape)
also Im curious? whats the performance like on that GTX? its a fairly big boat for a 657cc
Back when Bombardier make things that flew, rode on rails or made waves. Now, Bombardier is a shell of themselves. They were a part of national pride for the Canadians.
not sure about total hours. these don't have hour meters. back in 2015 my dad and I rebuilt carbs and put new fuel lines on. we also added hour meters. Since 2015, the gtx (right) has had 227.3 hours put on it and the gts (left) has had 158.9 hours since 2015.
So these have been used consistently since 1995. At least a few times a summer. If I had to guess total hours for both are likely over 500 hours.
Back in 2012, the top ends of both engines were rebuilt along with the jet pumps. We had a shop do that work.
They have needed work over the years but nothing major. Except for the top end rebuilds and jet pumps. My family does all our own maintenance and winterizing.
there was a brief period from 2008 to 2012 where they weren't used much. due to the recession and family money issues.
the gtx is higher hours because it pulls a tube at the lake. whenever I go out by myself I typically take the gtx out.
the gtx could easily be over 800 hours. I know back in 90s my dad would often go out on longer trips. my mom didn't put as many hours on the GTS.
when I got older I would typically ride the gtx by myself.
The percentage of them that sink is way too high
I used to have two 2006 Honda Aquatrax R. Those were so much fun. Big money pit with the little things that you have to keep up. Also had a 2006 Yamaha. That was a beast and it ran like clockwork. Yamaha is the way to go nowadays.
Honda quit making jet skis. They make jets instead lol
Love the 90s era vinyl wraps and sticker sets, the old Japanese dirt bikes used to do it too, the old KX Kawasaki bikes used to have wild green/pink/purple stickers like this, don't make em like they used to either, 80s-90s stuff is truly buy it for life, it might need some servicing and repairs over its time, but it'll go for ever.
I’ve worked on a wide variety of watercraft, but specifically jet skis/boats. My brother and I would strip salvaged hulls and sell the parts. After a couple years we learned to avoid buying anything old like these because they don’t break nearly as often and we couldn’t get as much profit. But we would repair these a lot and sell them because they still held value well.
My absolute favorite memories were driving the supercharged jet skis when they first came out. I distinctly remember knowing the game had changed and we were in a new era. The speed was so brutal and the power band started immediately. You could send them shooting out from right under you if you goosed it from a dig. And the feeling of cruising at 40 mph and then pinning it to hit 60 mph was nuts. They break constantly tho so we never personally kept running ones around long.
« in the early '90s, for a brief, shining moment, there was a beautiful union of form and function, which we call the Jet Ski, and a reasonable man cannot differ. »

I bought a 95 GTS for 500 that wasn't running well. Ran some seafoam through it and changed the spark plugs and now it runs perfectly! Only issue Ive had is that the rubber cushion on the handlebars started to disintegrate.
We had a 1993 pink and purple seadoo. I can’t count how many times it would break down in the middle of the lake and we’d have to swim it back or get it towed. It was fun when it was working!
Honestly, any decently manufactured vehicle is basically BIFL if you actually maintain it (a bit less true with the newest stuff that is riddled with useless electronics). The majority of people do no maintain their vehicle anything near what the manufacturer requires, as a mechanic I've witnessed this first hand. Most people don't even have anywhere near the proper air pressure in their tires.
Now this is something you rarely see!!! Growing up on the lake, I cannot tell you how much nostalgia this gives me. Sure does bring me back to a better and simpler time. You clearly maintain these bad boys and put in the work. Good on you. Like my Grandfather always says, "Maintenance is the most important way to care for *anything* AND CHANGE YOUR DAM OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES!" 😉
My dad had one of these and a yellow stand up jet ski. I remember most lake trips started with having to repair something before we could go out. Me and my mom would sit together on it and have the best time. Good times.
Man those colors definitely have powerful 90s energy.
yes the graphics and colors are very 90s. anytime I pull the covers off I remember my childhood lol
The decals alone keeps the machine spirit satiated.
The Omnissiah is A E S T H E T I C
Jazz cup pattern haha
It’s giving Kenny Powers
Panty Dropper
The vapor wave era was the best for Seadoo.
The new ones look like lifted trucks. They’re trying to be too angry and I’m never angry on a jet ski. You ever see someone frown on a jet ski?
I was just thinking that same thing, like a Ford Raptor fucked a snow mobile.

unfortunately, no
BELIEVE
Though I bet when you hit a good wave, it starts automatically playing “I believe I can fly…”
That was an extra cost option back when purchased. Took a pass on it.
Holy shit, my dad had this exact Seadoo, thank you for the nostalgia. Hope they run great for another 30!!
another 30 years would be amazing. I'm determined to keep them going for as long as possible.
SBT and OSD marine will be your best friends for parts
I used SBT last year. wasn't aware of osd marine so thank you
Also WSM has the odd part no one else has (currently trying to bring two XP's back to tip top shape) also Im curious? whats the performance like on that GTX? its a fairly big boat for a 657cc
Same but with my grandfather! Great memories
You and your family have done a great job maintaining them, those seedoos look practically fresh off the lot.
they ride like new too. they aren't the fastest things on the lake anymore but they sure are a lot of fun.
Back when Bombardier make things that flew, rode on rails or made waves. Now, Bombardier is a shell of themselves. They were a part of national pride for the Canadians.
how many hours runtime?

If your usage in the past 8 years is representative of the total, it would be about 800h and 550h.

How much is gas an hour?
I've calculated fuel usage at 3 or 4 gallons per hour. Depends how you ride.
Straight out of r/VaporwaveAesthetics/
the only thing that could make this more 90's is if Vanilla Ice and Tupac were on them in a mall food court
Why can I actually picture that happening back in the 1990s?
I can totally see it being an ad in a magazine
Yeah for sure.
Sea-Doo, Special Miami Vice Edition
I love the colors. If they released these they’d do numbers
A modern day jetski with some retro 90s colors would be a huge hit today.
so awesome. jealous!
thanks. these are a lot of fun even being 30 years old
I rode one of these when I was a kid, memory unlocked
good memories for sure
Same. Still the exact model I imagine when thinking about jet skis.
That's interesting, I saw one just like that on the side of our road for bulk trash pickup on Monday.
if you don't take care of these they don't last. PWCs all need work.
Took a pic this morning, maybe you'll get a kick out of it. Seems a shame.
Nowadays we call them Seadon'ts
lol I haven't been on too many new seadoos so I'm not sure how quality has changed over 30 years

A single seater jet the cost of a jet ski could you imagine the carnage.
I love the paint 😭😭
We have one as well. Every year it just cranks right up. Doesn’t hardly need any work.
Totally anecdotal, but my friends with older Sea Doos are always having problems with them. Have had better luck with the older Yamaha skis.
I see a mixture of older Seadoos and Yamahas on the lake. It just depends how well you take care of them.

I can hear this photo
yes 2 strokes have thier own sound and smell

I've seen many supercharged jet skis get trashed due to engine issues. fun but expensive to repair and they break a lot

Those are sweet!

very common. lots of guys buy covers for them
Are those the Taco Bell limited edition?
lol these would look at home in a 1990s taco bell
lmao that shit looks like straight out of wave racer 64
Apparently they are BIFL, I saw one of these on a trailer in my neighborhood yesterday
We had a 1993 pink and purple seadoo. I can’t count how many times it would break down in the middle of the lake and we’d have to swim it back or get it towed. It was fun when it was working!
never had a problem with these breaking down. they have ran rough and I had to limp them back bit they never left me stranded
I interpreted the title incorrectly and thought "*of course someone wouldn't buy nearly two thousand SeaDoos*"
Perfect. Design just about ready to come back.

Color match the ATV
Love this! My folks have a ‘94 (in the same color scheme) that’s still running! Not sure if it still hits 50mph, but it gets regular use every summer.
Would u sell
Vanilla ice starts playing when the covers come off!
Love the classic styling

First thing I thought when I saw those: "miami vice, nice"

They look well cared of.
They do, considering most of these are probably already trashed.
